Message from the Headmaster
There was a palpable buzz throughout the school this week as pupils returned rested and full of energy. This half term offers pupils plenty of opportunities to develop personally, spiritually and socially, through channelling some of their energy into trips and events.
On Monday evening, pupils who will be sailing tall ships in the early part of the summer holiday and their parents were able to learn more about this popular and rewarding adventure. The Sports calendar is fully under way with fixtures in cricket, tennis and rowing in this first week back. As the week ended, we welcomed an inspirational Maths speaker; Year 10 GCSE Geography students embarked on their fieldwork; and CCF cadets in Years 8 and 9 visited Headley Court for D-Day commemorations. It was a poignant reminder of the immense sacrifice made and resilience exhibited by a generation as well as an opportunity to be grateful for all they did for future generations.
Pupils have been receiving feedback from the assessments that they completed before half-term. This is an opportunity for them to take on board the feedback and learn from it in order to be able to move forward with confidence.
I look forward to seeing parents at the Cranfest tomorrow evening, the first of a number of excellent CPA events this term. Thank you to all those parents who have volunteered their time and energy to bring our community together.

Maths and Smoke Rings
On Friday, all of our Senior pupils attended an exciting presentation led by Zoe Griffiths, an influential Maths speaker. The theme of the presentation was ‘Shapes and Smoke Rings’. A series of interactive demonstrations showed Zoe’s favourite shapes. Her favourite was a Torus shape, a doughnut shape which was revealed to the audience in a spectacular fashion through the use of smoke rings rising into the air. Her presentation was very well received and the pupils left with a renewed enthusiasm for Maths!
Cricket matches took place against Parkside, St John's and Kingswood House this week. Many congratulations to two Year 7 pupils, Dylan V and Zachary R, for both scoring 50 runs and contributing to excellent Cranmore performances. Also, congratulations to our U14s & U15s who beat Downsend in a thrilling tennis match on Wednesday.
Best of luck to our three pupils who are representing the Guildford District Athletics team at the Surrey Schools Athletics competition tomorrow. The event is taking place at the Weir Archer Athletics & Fitness Centre (formally Kingsmeadow) and our pupils are competing in the following events: Theo L (Year 9) 800m, Kobey M (Year 9) triple jump, and Daniel B (Year 8) javelin.
The Walton and Weybridge Regatta takes place this weekend with Cranmore having a great representation of rowers. 18 pupils across two divisions will be competing in 9 boats. The pupils in Years 8, 9 and 10 have been

Corpus Christi
A Reading from the Gospel of Mark
"Jesus has made Himself the Bread of Life to give us life. Night and day, He is there. If you really want to grow in love, come back to the Eucharist, come back to that Adoration."
Mother Teresa
While they were eating, He took bread, said the blessing, broke it, gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many.”
The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God
Reflection
This week we focus on the great Feast of Corpus Christi. This is a major feast within the church. Corpus Christi are the Latin Words, 'The Body of Christ.' Jesus promised that He would be with us always. As Catholics we believe in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Every time we go to Mass, Jesus is truly present in body, blood, soul and divinity. He is there. This should give us encouragement and strength.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to be generous: to serve you as you deserve; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek to rest; to labour and to ask for no reward save that of knowing I do your will.
Amen
