Message from the Headmaster

NET Ministries visited Cranmore this week and spent time with pupils in Years 8 and 9. Aware that in today’s world there can be countless distractions, their focus was on embracing faith, sharing hope and inspiring our young people.

We were delighted with the overall results in the Intermediate Maths Challenge which were shared over half-term and are very proud of the news that one of our students, having achieved a gold certificate, has qualified for the Olympiad round later this year. Well done to all the pupils who took part in the competition.

Earlier today, the Daniel Spargo Mabbs Foundation led drugs education workshops at school with pupils in Years 9 and 10. They were encouraged to be positive role models to others and to develop important skills for life. There is a follow-up session online on Monday for parents with advice to help them with discussions and guidance for supporting their children.

Also today, a group of pupils from Years 7 and 8 visited Sandhurst Royal Military Academy to learn about the role of the army, find out about potential career prospects and tour the Old College.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

NET Ministries Visit to Years 8 and 9

This week NET Ministries came into school to lead a retreat for pupils in Years 8 and 9. The pupils were led in prayer and worship by ten young missionaries who came mostly from the USA. They learnt about the need to ask for help, what prayer looks like and how we need Jesus every day.

We received some very positive feedback from our pupils about the day:

“A great day.”

“I wish we could do this every week.”

“I really drew closer to God and was inspired in my faith.”

Aristotelian Award

Congratulations to William Fokes in Year 9, whose essay entitled ‘Is sportswashing a significant issue for international sport?’ has been submitted to The Perse School’s Year 9 research essay competition.

William’s essay was a very thoughtful body of well-researched work, which drew from historical perspectives, such as Mussolini’s Italy in the 1930s, right up to more recent events including the World Cups hosted by Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022). William adopted a balanced approach, recognising the documented human rights violations and loss to life in Qatar, whilst also acknowledging the benefit that sporting events can bring to less wealthy nations, which can serve as a catalyst for positive change and accountability.

Very well done, William!

Congratulations to Bowen House who gained the highest number of merits this week!

Intermediate Maths Challenge Success

On 31st January all of our Year 9 and 10 pupils took part in the Intermediate Maths Challenge, a national competition assessing pupils' problem been invited to sit the Hamilton Olympiad round in March, amongst some of the top young mathematicians in the country. We wish Aryan every success.

ISA U15 Hockey Champions!

On Friday 9th February, our U15A team played in the ISA hockey tournament. The event took place at the iconic Lee Valley Hockey Centre which hosted the Olympic Games in 2012. The side went undefeated in their pool which meant progressing to the knockout stages. Cranmore won the semi-final 1-0 and also the final 1-0. Not only were Cranmore crowned champions, but the team went the entire tournament without conceding a goal. Congratulations to the team.

Our two U14 and two U15 football teams played against Ewell Castle this week. Cranmore played some excellent football which resulted in winning all four matches.

Also today, there was a swimming gala for U9s to U15s away at Downsend.

Prayer

Almighty and ever living God, you invite us deeper into your world, your people, your Lent. May this time be one of outward focus; seeking you in those we often ignore. Help us live a Lent focused on freedom, generosity, and encounter.

Give us hearts hungry to serve you and those who need what we have to give.

St Andrew …Pray for us.

St Maximilian Kolbe ….Pray for us.

Amen

Adoration

Every Wednesday 8am to 8.25am

This is an invitation to come to the chapel to be in Jesus’ presence on Wednesday morning

This is a time of silent prayer and to be in Jesus’ presence

Parents are asked to meet us in Reception at 7.55am

When we face the sun we get a tan… but when we stand before Jesus in the Eucharist we become saints.
