Message from the Headmaster

It seems just a short time ago that our pupils began their Senior School journey, entering the car park in their navy blazers in Year 7. On Monday, we held our GCSE options evening for Year 9 pupils and their parents. The auditorium was full of families, and it was an exciting opportunity for staff to share information about the pathways to selecting subjects as well as their knowledge and expertise of the GCSE syllabuses and examinations.

Congratulations to all those who took part in sport this week. I would especially like to mention the three pupils who were selected to represent Surrey in squash who won their matches. We wish them the very best of luck in March at the finals in Nottingham.

I am looking forward to seeing parents at the Carol Service next week. It is always a fitting celebration as term draws to an end and the festive holiday begins.

Recently, three Senior Cranmore pupils represented the Surrey U13 squash team in the preliminary stages of the County Championship. George P (Year 7), Omar S (Year 8) and Sam B (Year 8) were selected from the Surrey Squash Squad to play in matches against both Kent and Sussex. Surrey won the matches convincingly and have now qualified for the March Finals which will take place in Nottingham.

Rugby matches have taken place against Dunottar and Sevenoaks, plus a thrilling U14s match against St Johns.

Thought for the week:

How do you celebrate the mother figures in your life?

Immaculate Mother

Immaculate Mary, thy praises we sing, Thou reignst now in Heaven with Jesus our King. Ave, Ave, Ave Maria! Ave, Ave, Ave Maria! In Heaven the Blessed thy glory proclaim, On earth we thy children invoke thy fair name. Ave, Ave, Ave Maria! Ave, Ave, Ave Maria! We pray for our mother, the Church upon earth And bless, dearest Lady, the land of our birth. Ave, Ave, Ave Maria! Ave, Ave, Ave Maria!

REFLECTION

This week we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception teaches us that Mary, the mother of Christ, was conceived without sin and her conception was thus immaculate. Mary's sinless conception is the reason why we speak of Mary as being ‘full of grace’.

Let us Pray: Our Father Hail Mary 1 minute silence

“The uncontaminated beauty of our Mother is incomparable. Let us entrust ourselves to her and say 'no' to sin and 'yes' to Grace once and for all.”

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
