CRANS-MONTANA : a small town in the mountains, perched on a plateau studded with small lakes, at the foot of a ski area with over 140 km of pistes, Crans-Montana is located on the sunniest hillside in the valley where the Rhône rises. It is this region with its Mediterranean character – stretching from the valley where the river flows, right up to the eternal snow of the glacier at 3000 metres - we are inviting you to discover.

A PLACE THAT NATURE HAS SHAPED FOR HOLIDAYS From this promontory which opens out onto the widest valley in the Alps, the view stretches from the Simplon to the Mont-Blanc. The sun is ever present, in summer and winter alike. The tourist resort took up quarters at an altitude of 1500 metres over one hundred years ago, and today offers inhabitants and visitors all the services of a small town, while still allowing them to escape into nearby natural surroundings at every street corner, the mountains and fields of snow, natural terraces where vines producing exceptional wine grow, or along the waterways which have irrigated for centuries this sometimes arid land.

CRANS-MONTANA AIMS FOR EXCELLENCE Today, Crans-Montana is devoted to conserving and showcasing everything that makes this region so beautiful. The resort is gradually being reorganized so that inhabitants and visitors feel even more comfortable here, in this warm and friendly environment, enjoying a calmer pace of life. Through various different initiatives, whose aim is constant improvement, the region is committed to preserving the very features which have made it so well-known, and the gifts that nature has bestowed on it, so that our leisure activities do not adversely affect this huge open-air «playground».

Golf par excellence Crans-Montana truly is a choice destination for golf. As well as the famous

Severiano Ballesteros course where one of the most important European golf contests - the European Masters – takes place, the region has three other 18-hole courses in a 20 kilometre radius. In Crans-Montana, the greens designed by Severiano Ballesteros and Jack Nicklaus are at the entrance to the resort, easily accessible on foot. A little further out, two 9-hole courses allow beginners to play without a handicap. The Sierre and Sion courses (18 holes) in the nearby Rhône Valley give you the chance to discover a different scenery.

Please remain on the paths and respect the fences around the pastures.

From Crans-Montana to the neighbouring thermal resort of Leukerbad takes a good 5 hours walk in the

high mountains. For the tour of the Wildstrubel, several days are necessary, with nights in huts! But to walk the Centipede Path with the little ones in the resort, you need only as long as you decide to walk. Heading for a picnic in the mountains with the family, the marked paths take you past cows grazing the Alpine grass in the summer.

mountain terrain and bumps, know Crans-Montana for its mountain bike downhills, thanks in particular to the international competitions which take place here. The Kona Bike Park is here for you to test and improve your agility on two wheels. Cross country fans can take marked trails with different levels of difficulty. Every winter, the golf course is covered with a white blanket of snow, and it becomes a kingdom for children and walkers. Bibi the marmot lives here, and offers numerous activities: snowtubing, sledging, maxi trampoline, flying fox, slide, swings, treasure hunt… In summer, meet in the forest to soar from tree to tree. Fancy going even higher? The mountains nearby offer different activities for all ages, such as numerous walks, some of which are suitable for a baby in a pushchair. Treasures of the past and pleasures for today All you have to do is take the funicular from Sierre to follow in the footsteps of the local people who, in the past, like nomads, would follow the retreating or advancing snow, from the level of the vines above the river, to the pastures and the high pastures where the tradition of cheese-making has continued throughout the centuries.
