Swim Instruction – Youth, Teen & Adult Our warm water, multi-depth pool is great for learning. Children will progress with confidence and learn to love the water. Our enthusiastic and well-trained instructors create a positive and fun experience. Classes are offered mornings, afternoons, evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. Schedules are available at the Pavilion office with specific class times the week prior to each session. Our lesson progression is skill based and emphasizes proper technique and safety. If you are unsure of where your child might fit best, please see one of our aquatic coordinators for a skill assessment, 425-776-9173 ext 1120. Marlins Summer Swim Team 2018 The Marlins are a recreational swim team for swimmers ages 6-18. We emphasize improvement of strokes, endurance and fun. We will compete in dual meets each week as part of the Craze Swim League with these swim teams: Yost Penguins, Lynnwood Sharks, Shoreline Gators, Kirkland Orcas, McCollum Frogs, Snohomish Piranhas and Everett Barracudas. Practices are held Monday-Thursday and will begin Monday, June 25. The all-league swim meet will be held August 11 at Snohomish Aquatic Center. Register for one of the specific practice times listed below, this will be your child’s practice time for the summer. Open registration begins March 5th.

Placement in the Elite Practice Groups requires a minimum time standard listed below: • 9-12 Year olds: 50 Freestyle: 38.50 or faster AND 100 IM 1:40.00 or faster • 13-18 Year olds: 50 Freestyle: 35.50 or faster AND 100 IM 1:30.00 or faster

Age Group Practice Times (Fees: R$204 N$225)

Pre-requisite for participation: Children who have not completed at least one session in our Advanced level program will need to have a placement evaluation by a coach. Children who have not passed the Preschool Level of Porpoise or the School Age Level 5 in our program may also need an evaluation by a coach. These should be completed before the open registration date.

A low impact class with a choice of intensity that is based on each individual’s abilities. No swim skills are required. The warm water helps relieve pain and stiffness as well as increase joint flexibility.

Low Intensity Fitness Training (LIFT)

Low to mid impact with variable intensity. Low Intensity Fitness Training is a program for people who are just starting a fitness program, persons 60 years and over, anyone with joint and mobility issues, or anyone looking for a bit of a slower pace from our other classes.

Mid to high impact and intensity. Aqua Zumba® blends the Zumba® formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that’s cardio conditioning, body toning and exhilarating!. No swim skills required.

River Fitness

Deep Water Fitness

Mid to high impact with high intensity a fast-paced, fitness class designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, tone muscles, and increase flexibility. No swim skills required.

No impact with moderate to high intensity this is a dynamic, total-body workout. Students use equipment for floating, support and resistance. No swim skills are required however participants must be comfortable in the deep water.

Medium impact with moderate to high intensity. Use of river current, water resistance and hand weights for a complete body workout. No swim skills required.

Shallow Water Fitness

Low to mid impact with moderate intensity. Includes various walking techniques in shallow water. No swim skills required.

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. This program offers a choice of Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED courses to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience. Pre-requisites: 15 years of age, must pass pre test consisting of a swimming 300 yards continuously showing breath control and rhythmic breathing using crawl stroke and breast stroke; Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; Complete the following timed event in 1 minute and 40 seconds: swim 20 yards perform a surface dive to retrieve a 10 lb. object from deep water and swim with it 20 yards to start and exit the water without using a ladder. Certifications awarded providing all sessions were attended and successful completion of all skill sessions and written exams. Junior Lifeguarding

This American Red Cross Course is for youth ages 1114 (it is not a certification class). This course builds a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards. All rentals include tubes, mats, basketball hoop, water walk, noodles, water toys and lifejackets. Pool parties are fun for all ages and swimming abilities. Half the pool or the full pool may be rented. Add our Lazy River to our half pool rentals, it will wind you around by a light current for additional fun! Adults are required to accompany children in the water at all rentals. All rentals will receive a rules orientation and a swim check for deep water swimming at the beginning of the rental.

Rent the swimming pool & rooms for your group. We can accommodate groups after the building closes or overnight depending on your needs. Overnights are scheduled on Fridays or Saturdays, these must be arranged a minimum of three weeks in advance. The pool, room, racquetball court use and TV/DVD player are included for these rentals. During the months of July and August we are unable to schedule Full Overnights. For rentals after hours these are available any night after closing, arrangements must be made a minimum 7 days in advance of the date desired.

Registration: General Information ◆ Advance

Fees include state and local sales tax, where applicable. ◆ If paying by check, write check to City of Edmonds or City of Mountlake Terrace. ◆ Please register early, classes may be canceled if registration is insufficient. ◆ Returned check fee: $30 – Edmonds, $25 – Mountlake Terrace ◆P articipation is voluntary and participants agree to assume responsibility for any injury or damage to person or property. ◆ Video tapes and photographs may be taken and used for publication.

Refunds ◆ Please

note – policies vary slightly between cities (see below for details). ◆ Full refunds will be given if classes are canceled by the Parks and Recreation Department. Edmonds ◆ R efunds and transfers must be requested 3 business days prior to the first class and assessed a $10 administrative fee per registration. ◆W ithdrawals from Meadowdale Preschool require one month’s notice and payment. Refunds after April 1 require May payment. ◆F acility Rentals: Refer to your contract for refund information. ◆R Mountlake Terrace egistration for all activities is binding. All participant-based refunds/credits are assessed a $10 service fee with the exception of Semester/Yearly Dance and Fitness classes, which will be assessed a $40 fee. ◆R efunds may take up to four weeks for processing. No refund for amounts less than $5. ◆P lease see website for additional policies.
