Re Enrolment for 2014
Year 12 Parent VTAC Information Evening
Term 3 is a time when a Secondary College such as ours undertakes a reenrolment process to confirm our numbers for next year. The question people may ask is “ why would a school need to know student numbers in September for the following year”. The answer is threefold:
There will be a VTAC Information Evening tonight at the College at 7.00pm.
The school has started planning a Budget for 2014 and student enrolment numbers are a vital part of that equation
We have a number of families whose children are a on waiting list for 2014
The Catholic Education Office asks for enrolment numbers in Term 4 each year (for the following year) and factors those numbers into our funding worksheet, so this information is vital to CRC

Senior Snow Camp 2013 Last Friday night we set off just after school for the first senior CRC Melton snow trip. The bus trip seemed to drag on forever as we were all so excited to grab our gear and get on the mountain. Arriving in Mansfield we pulled into Buller Sports grabbed our skis and snow boards and headed straight to the hotel where we had dinner waiting for us. Never had we been so glad to see food, after the three hour bus trip we were starving. The next morning we woke up bright and early, it was still dark! We had a nutritious breakfast to prepare us for the huge day ahead. We arrived at the top of the mountain bright and early to prepare for our lessons. The lessons lasted for two hours and taught us the basic skills we needed to make it down the mountain without seriously injuring ourselves, and how to fall safely… and we did a lot of falling! After the lessons we were set free to cut off and fall in front of all the tourists on the mountain which was great fun at the time. At midday we grabbed lunch from Abominable restaurant where the line was huge but the food was great. After that we were let loose once again but free to explore greater and more challenging runs allowing us to have many more people laugh at us. After the first day everyone was exhausted but hungry for more. After we arrived back from the mountain everyone refreshed themselves and we all set out to the local Mansfield golf club for a cute family dinner. The food was great especially the Parmas. After dinner we retreated back to the hotel for some much needed rest for the next day, most of us can’t remember the last time we had been in bed so early! Once again we arose nice and early before the sun, cleaned out rooms and keen as ever attacked the mountain with hopes to build on the previous days success. There were still many falls but as Mr Iannazzo and Mr Guthridge used their skills to help us improve, as they accompanied the confident students to more thrilling runs, really giving them a taste of Mount Buller in its prime. At three o’clock we gathered at the bottom of the mountain all tuckered out ready for a sleep on the bus ride home. When we got back to Mansfield we off loaded our ski gear to Buller Sports in record time and packed the bus then we were on the road home. We stopped for dinner at Wallan and had a feast of Maccas, then drove the rest of the way home. Because we were so efficient we arrived home two hours early which gave us a great chance to recover for the busy week of school ahead. Overall the trip gave us a great chance to socialize and refresh ahead of the busy exam preparations ahead of us. I strongly encourage any students reading to start saving and take up the chance next year! We would like to thank Mr Iannazzo, Mr Guthridge, Mr Quinn, Mrs Russo and Ms Coverdale as well as all of the Year 11s who made the camp possible. Joseph Stapleton 12 Anthony

Literacy Week From July 31st – August 2nd we celebrated Literacy Week. A number of different activities were held throughout the week including ‘Literacy Games,’ ‘Trivial Pursuit’ and ‘Problem Solving.’ Participation in the week’s activities resulted in a ticket to ‘The Mad Hatters Tea Party’ which was the highlight of the week; as the library was transformed into a lunch-based afternoon tea. Overall, the week was a great success with about 30 people participating every day and more at the Friday party.

YAC is a program for young people from 12 – 25 who live, work or study in Melton City Council who are passionate about being leaders in the community. Throughout the year the YAC members are involved in leadership experiences such as planning, organising and running the YAC Awards, YAC grants and the Youth Forum. It is an excellent opportunity for young people to learn leadership skills, be involved in decision making processes and become leaders.
