14th June, 2016 Reflection Open our hearts Open our hearts to be influenced for good, and inspire us to touch the hearts of others. Enable us to change the things that contradict your love, and may all your people work and grow together as brothers and sisters, building up your kingdom on earth. Amen
Dear Parents and Students, Whilst our Principal, Mark Sheehan, is on leave for the last two weeks of term, I will be acting in his role. Narelle Layton will be Acting Deputy Principal - Staff during this time. The Catholic Education Commission of Victoria has recently released a commitment statement to Child Safety in all Catholic Schools. This is in line with all schools (Government, Catholic and Independent) as well as any organisation working with children. The new requirements build on what schools are already doing but with specific requirements. Rob Blackley and myself have been involved with preparing the College for implementation of these measures. It will include a review of our Student Welfare Policy, a Staff Code of Conduct Statement, more checks on College Contractors and additional steps in our interview processes. We feel we are well placed to meet the new requirements that come into operation on August 1. You will also notice specific statements in school job advertisements referring to this. Our parent community will be notified of any changes through our website and newsletter. Once again, we wish all our Year 9, 10 and Year 11 VCE students well with their exams that conclude this week. A reminder that Year 10 and Year 11 VCE students only have to attend school for exams as no classes will operate. However, there will be supervised study rooms available for students who are here. As stated in the last newsletter Year 11 students will start their Unit 2 studies in the last week of term and Semester Two electives for Years 9 & 10 will begin in Term 3. Year 7 & 8 Art / Technology rotations will also occur at the start of Term 3. All students at Years 7 – 10 will be given a new timetable at the start of Term 3 and can access it via SIMON during the 2nd week of the holiday break. Last Day of Term 2 and Buses Please note the following information regarding bus service pick-ups for next Friday June 24. Our College will finish classes at 2.30pm as it has done in previous years. Melton Town services will run at their regular times. Students who normally catch the two SITA Buses may wait until their normally scheduled pickup time of 3.30pm or make other arrangements, such as catching other town buses, to get home. Bacchus Marsh Coach Services have unfortunately been affected by Melton Secondary College (the Melton Bus Coordinating School) who finish at 3.10pm. They have instructed the buses to operate on their normal day times. We have been able to negotiate that the Bacchus Marsh bus routes that only serve CRC Melton students will pick up students at around 2.40pm except for Toolern Vale – which has to meet other services at the Melton Interchange and wait for Melton SC to finish. Staff Professional Learning Day The College will be running a Professional Learning day on Monday, June 20. This is a student free day. Staff will be undertaking Leadership Training, RE Accreditation and Curriculum planning on the day.
