15th November, 2016 Reflection Appreciating what we have in common with others Lord, we ask you to open our eyes that we may value and appreciate all people, recognising what we have in common rather than focusing on what our differences might be. Inspire us to distinguish between what is important and what is not, and open our minds and hearts that we may always be people of good will who bring life and joy to others. Amen.

Dear Parents and Students, Remembrance Day Last Friday Year 7-11 students gathered in front of our Lone Pine to pay tribute to those who have died in war. The College was also represented by four students at the City of Melton service.

Clairvaux (Year 7) Area Landscaping The initial landscaping works have been completed in the area outside our Clairvaux centre and looks great. It is pleasing to see so many students using the area. Mark Sheehan Principal

Year 9 Community Service

Analyse, Taylah and Veronika attended The Bacchus Marsh animal shelter on Wednesday 9th of November. The girls enjoyed playing with the kangaroos and feeding the possums and baby goats milk. They found that feeding the goats was a bit of a novelty to them and they thought it was funny that the goats head butted their hands to get more milk. They learnt that possums like to eat rose petals, that only the bush tail possums hiss to scare you away from their cage and that wombats are actually pretty fast movers. The students raked up and bagged the kangaroo droppings to clear up their living and eating space. They got to see and pat a baby possum which was as small as a mouse and was really soft. The girls thought the possum was very cute when it crawled up the carers arm to snuggle in to her neck. They were amazed at how tame the animals were with the carer. Overall the girls seemed to have a lot of fun and said they would be keen to go and help at the shelter again in the future.

Sporting Achievement Montana Djatschenko of 9 Bernard represented Catholic Regional College Melton on the 5th and 6th of November 2016 at the Victorian All Schools Championships for Athletics. Montana came 2nd in the Triple jump (missing out on 1st place by 3cm!) which now has automatically qualified her to represent Victoria in the Australian All Schools in Canberra on December 2-4 2016. She has also made the team for Victorian Juniors competing next March in Sydney. Well done Montana! Good luck for future competitions. On behalf of the Gadal Learning Team, Karina Dunne
