16th February, 2016 Reflection Father of my soul Father of my soul, Mother of my heart, I know your love for me is limitless beyond imagining. You care for me as a loving parent. Through my smallest Lenten sacrifices, help me to become less selfish and more aware of your ways. Fan the flame of my desire to draw ever closer to you. Guide me to seek your love.

Dear Parents and students, CRC Swimming Sports Well done to Glasheen House on their win in the Swimming Sports last Thursday – after many years the domination from Reed House has been broken. From the Deputy Principal (Staff) What a great day our Swimming Carnival was! The weather was perfect and student attendance and participation high. Special congratulations must go to our Year 12 students who not only led their respective Houses well but whose efforts in dressing up for the day was noted by all. Unfortunately there still continues to be some hoax calls to schools. In terms of our preparation for any circumstances, a group of staff will undergo a 2 hour Warden Training session this week to be followed by a full staff Emergency Response session in the next weeks. We will then undertake an Evacuation Drill in early March. All training sessions will be delivered and the drill supervised by our Emergency Response training provider to ensure we meet all current requirements. Only in exceptional circumstances that are authorised by the relevant Year Level Co-ordinator will any further changes be processed. Camps Over the next weeks our Year 7 and Year 8 students will attend Year level camps. I am sure all the students will have a great experience as staff have put a lot of time and energy into the planning of these events. To ensure these events run smoothly and safely it is essential that all student information is up to date. Please ensure that you reply to CareMonkey requests for both permission to attend and contact / medical information updates. VCE Season of Excellence Drama 2015/16 Last year three of our VCE Drama students performed their Solo Performance for external assessors as part of their Unit 4 assessment under the guidance of Ms Clare O’Sullivan. Our students all performed extremely well. With the start of the new College year, two students, Jack Doyle and Dyson Miller received invitations to audition for Top Class 2016. Last week Top Class officials notified Dyson Miller that he had been successful in being chosen to represent Catholic Regional College Melton at this year’s VCE Season of Excellence 2016. Top Class is a program that showcases outstanding VCE Drama, Theatre Studies and Music performances by inspirational students who received outstanding grades for their 2015 VCE performance examinations from across the state. This is a fantastic achievement by Dyson and a great honor for the College. Many schools from around the state will have the privilege of seeing Dyson’s performance that will inspire current 2016 Drama students and the wider community. Dyson will perform at the Playhouse, Arts Centre Melbourne on Tuesday 22 March 2016 at 2:00pm and tickets can be purchased through the Arts Centre box office on 1300 182 183. The Art Department and CRC community congratulate Dyson on his achievement and wish him all the best for his performance. As they say in show biz, break a leg. Amy Rowley Head of Art Camps, Sports & Excursion Fund (CSEF) If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. CSEF will be provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities. Only Year 7s to receive vaccinations in 2016 Parents of older children may be aware that in previous years vaccinations were given to students in Years 7 to 10. However, the vaccine program for secondary students has been simplified this year so that all vaccines will only be offered to Year 7 students. This includes: Diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis combined vaccine (dTp) – one dose Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine – three doses Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine – one dose Parents of Year 7 students should look out for the vaccine consent card booklet coming home from school with your child. You need to read, complete and return Part A regardless of whether your child is being vaccinated at school. The Melton City Council Immunisation Service may contact you about the Secondary School Vaccine Program. Schools are authorised to provide parent/guardian contact details to local councils for this purpose. Contact the school by the 29th February 2016 if you do not want your contact details given to the Melton City Council. To learn more about the Secondary School Vaccine Program, the vaccines, the diseases they protect against, or how you can prepare your child for vaccination, go to immunehero.health.vic.gov.au Year 7 Homeroom teachers will distribute information to each student about the vaccination program on Wednesday. Please ensure your child hands the letter to you, and if you do not receive a letter please contact the College.
