18th August, 2015 Reflection I am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, for the life of the world. (John 6:51) Give bread, Lord, to those who are hungry, give hunger for yourself to those who have bread, for you alone, Lord, can satisfy our desire: Jesus Christ, bread of life, we pray to you. Give strength to those who are weak, give humility to the powerful, for your alone, Lord, are our strength: Jesus Christ, bread of life, we pray to you. Give faith to those who are in doubt, give doubt to those who believe they possess you, for you alone, Lord, are the truth: Jesus Christ, bread of life, we pray to you. Give confidence to those who live in fear, inspire wonder in those who feel apathy, for you alone, Lord, support our hope: Jesus Christ, bread of life, we pray to you. Give light to those who are searching for you, preserve in your love all who pray with faith in you, for you alone, Lord, can fulfil our love: Jesus Christ, bread of life, we pray to you.

Year 9 Humanities excursion WW1 Centenary Exhibition and Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance On the 12th of August the Year 9 cohort went on excursion to the Shrine of Remembrance and the WW1 Centenary Exhibition at the Melbourne Museum. At the exhibition we saw lots of weapons, machinery, uniforms and real life artefacts that were used in the War. There were some diary entries written by Australian soldiers in the First World War. They gave us a really good insight into how devastating the war really was and how so many of the men and their families suffered for so long. The Shrine of Remembrance was so mesmerising and really pays tribute to our soldiers. We learnt lots of interesting and new things. At the end of our tour each student got to leave a poppy in the Shrine as a sign of respect. Overall the excursion was really interesting and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. After leaving we could really appreciate and be proud of the soldiers who fought for our country. By Maddy Rizzo
