19th March, 2013 Reflection We give thanks to you, Lord, We give thanks to you, Lord, for you have done marvellous things! When we were walking in darkness you were there, you were there, when we were kneeling in weakness you were there, you were there, when we drew near feeling worthless you were there, you were there, when we were needing forgiveness you were there, you were there, when we were searching for your grace you were there, you were there. We give thanks to you, Lord, for you have done marvellous things!

Election of Pope Francis

SACCSS Swimming Carnival

Last Thursday morning the news from Rome was that the Cardinals had elected a new Pope. The news came through as students and staff were heading into the Cathedral for the annual St Patrick’s Day Mass. Archbishop Denis Hart was delighted to speak at the Mass about the qualities that our new Pope will bring to the Church - simplicity, social justice and a focus on spirituality were among those qualities mentioned. At the end of Mass all staff and students present said the prayer of commitment, which I have included below.

The CRC Melton swimming squad had a terrific day at MSAC last Wednesday and we landed four Age Group Champions. Ben Wills won the 13 Year Old Male Champion. Jesse and Emily O'Rourke, respectively, were the 14 and 15 Year Old Female Champions. Mitchell Wills was the 15 Year Old Male Champion. Congratulations to all swimmers and their coaches, Paul Iannazzo and Leanne Ely.

“We commit ourselves to spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ by working together in respect, love and peace, making God’s Kingdom a reality in the world. Today we re-commit ourselves to Catholic Education and to caring for all those in our school community” Medieval Day The school was a sea of costume and colour on Monday as the Humanities Faculty, led by Karina Dunne, launched Medieval Day. Year 8 students no doubt enjoyed the day, and in the process learnt something about how people lived in medieval times. Well done to all involved.

John Christie Deputy Principal (Staff) Uniform Shop Winter uniform orders will be available for pickup on Wednesday March 27th between 12.00—2.00pm and 6.00—7.30pm. St Patrick's Mass Last week our students Robyn Hockaday, Sarah O'Rourke, Julien Johnson, Corey Theuma, Dyson Miller, Matthew Previti, Zac Miesen and Enya-Louise Somers along with Mr Goldby celebrated Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral as our school's representatives. It was a huge event, particularly coming hours after the announcement of the new Pope Francis. We thank our official party for representing us so well on this big day in Catholic Education Week. Shaun Coates RE & Faith Development Coordinator Head Lice Whilst there have been no cases reported at the College, there have been some cases of head lice reported at other schools.
