19th May, 2015 Reflection The Ascension of the Lord Jesus showed himself to the Eleven, and said to them, ‘Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation … And so the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven: there at the right hand of God he took his place, while they, going out, preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the signs that accompanied it. (Mk 16:19–20) We pray to be your faithful witnesses, to the ends of the earth. Lord, have mercy. That the Spirit of God renews our lives. Lord, have mercy. That those who are paralysed by fear or doubt might be healed. Lord, have mercy. God of our Lord, Jesus Christ, as we celebrate the ascension of your Son, teach us to trust that he lives to intercede on our behalf, now and forever, Amen.
Celebration Day - May 26 Our senior student leaders launched Celebration Day to the students at our recent full school assembly. The leaders have been meeting, planning, organising and booking activities for the day. The challenge of raising $10,000 ($10 per student) was put to the students. Money raised will be shared with our sister school Brother Beausang College Nairobi, Kenya, Orygen Youth Health and McAuley Community Services for Women.
McAuley Community Services for Women with the appointment of domestic violence campaigner Rosie Batty as 2015 Australian of the Year, the constant media reports of domestic violence and our involvement in the past with White Ribbon Day has lead us to make connection with McAuley Community Services for Women. It provides services for women and their children who are escaping family violence, and for women who are homeless. Students arriving late
Br Beausang Catholic Education Centre, located in Embulbul, has a school population of over 800 from nursery to the end of secondary school. There is also a unit for children with special needs. Most of the students are from poor and often displaced families and many are orphans. The school provides a meal each school day and for many, it is their only meal for the day. Students from all tribes, cultures and religions in neighbouring communities are welcome, especially those who might not otherwise be able to access education due to personal circumstances. Money raised in the past by the CRC community has allowed the school to install playground equipment and develop sporting facilities. This year money will be used to purchase music instrumental equipment. Orygen Youth Health Clinical Program (OYHCP) is a world-leading youth mental health program based in Melbourne. The School requires regular and punctual attendance at school and to all classes. Students must be at school throughout the hours of a normal school day, this includes Homeroom at the start of the school day. Attendance enables proper continuity of programs, development of understanding, completion of work in class and dissemination of information. Students with a pattern of lateness will receive discipline points and a possible after school detention. We are asking for your support to ensure your son/ daughter is arriving to school on time and ready for Homeroom at 8.48am. School Photos - May 28 School photos will be taken on Thursday 28 May.
