19th November, 2013 Reflection A Journey Prayer God of the past, there is a time for everything. There is a time for dying and a time for rising. We need courage to let go of what has been. Give us wisdom to know what needs to be left behind and what needs to be carried into the future. We thank you for the gifts of the past. God of the present, give us the courage to be our true selves. Help us to celebrate the gift of the present time – to delight in it and embrace it in all its mystery. We thank you for sustaining us and for bringing us to this moment upon our journey. God of the future, we are walking into mystery. We face the future not knowing what it will bring or how we will respond. Fill us with hope that you dwell in our midst and journey with us. God of the future, we praise you. AMEN Awards Night

White Ribbon Day November 25

The annual Academic and Achievement Awards Night will be held on Wednesday 4 December at 7.00pm. This is a very formal occasion where we recognise student academic excellence and achievement for 2013 for our Year 7-11 students. Letters are being mailed to all award winners this week with the relevant information re attendance, time and uniform requirements. It is an expectation of the College that award winners attend this important evening. An invitation is also extended to the wider school community to attend the evening.

In Australia, one in three women has experienced physical or sexual assault in her lifetime. These women are our mothers, girlfriends, wives, daughters, colleagues and friends. The mission of White Ribbon is to change the attitudes and behaviours that support or excuse this violence against women in Australia. The United Nations has declared this day for the Elimination of Violence against women. The White Ribbon Campaign objectives are to: 

create widespread awareness of the positive role that men can play in stopping violence against women;

enable leadership, particularly by men and boys, to bring about social change, and;

build collective knowledge and understanding of the effective prevention of violence against women.

End of Year Arrangements Year 7-9 Wednesday December 4 will be the final day at CRC for the Year 9 students before they go on the Melbourne Experience in the final two days of the school year. They will be dismissed from the city on Friday 6 December. The Year 9 Co-coordinator Mr McCann will provide parents with more details of the program in the coming week. The final day for Year 7 & 8 students is Friday December 6. Students will be celebrating the last day of the school year here at CRC. It is a normal school day therefore students are required to attend. The students will celebrate with a Year Level Mass, Year Level Assembly to recognise student achievements, Homeroom assemblies and finish with a BBQ. Lunch will be provided for the students. The students will be permitted to wear their PE uniform and will be dismissed at 1.30pm. For those students not able to be picked up or make their way home because of bus travelling arrangements the school will be providing supervision until the end of the school day. Buses will be operating on the normal school times. Mark Sheehan Principal
