1st March, 2016 Reflection God of infinite love God of infinite love, I thank you for this reminder of your love and your call that we be more patient, gentle and compassionate with others. Here in the middle of Lent, I turn to you to beg for your help. Please soften my heart. Help me to let go of judging others. I ask you this, in Jesus' name. Amen

Dear Parents and students, Last Thursday, Wedge Park PS received a hoax phone call and enacted their emergency procedures. When these situations occur Catholic Education Melbourne send out an email to all Catholic schools, this was the case last Thursday. At no time did CRC receive a hoax call or threat of any kind. Both St Catherine’s and CRC, due to their close proximity, decided to enact precautionary procedures. The decision was made to close the external gates and continue to monitor the situation and remain vigilant. Student safety and wellbeing is always our first consideration when these situations occur. Professional Learning Day Yesterday, our Middle Leaders were involved in a Professional Learning Day with Brendan Spillane, a highly acclaimed speaker, as our guest presenter. Brendan presented on ‘Leading for High Performance' and his starting point was Pope Francis’ motto- "Miserando atque eligendo", meaning lowly but chosen; literally in Latin 'by having mercy, by choosing him'. Other seminars on the day included Pathways planning Reading skills, Elearning, Numeracy Strategy, and Understanding Student Data. Year 12 Class of 2015 return Last Wednesday saw the return of over 100 of the class of 2015. The former students enjoyed a BBQ, a tour of the new Gadal building and caught up with their former teachers. Mark Sheehan Principal

VCE classes have now finished their first set of SACs and VCAL, VCE Outdoor Education and sports events continue. Feedback from our Year 8 Camps has been highly positive with students and staff thoroughly enjoying their time. The weather was also kind and supported our Water Sport activities. We look forward to our Year 7 Camps next week in the knowledge that an enormous amount of planning has taken place by Ms Wright and her team to ensure a great experience will be had by all. Camps As stated above, our Year 7 students will participate on their Year Level camps next week. Please note that if students do not have parent/guardian permission or updated Medical information they will not be able to attend camp. Year 7 Camps – March 7 - 11  

Netball Victoria State Team Congratulations to Madelyn Gray of Year 12 for being selected to play in the Under 17 State Netball team. This is the 3rd year Madelyn has been selected to play in the State Netball Team and it was made even more special this year when she was announced as the Under 17's Vice captain. The captains and vice-captains selected for the Netball Victoria State Underage Program all show genuine leadership qualities both on and off the court, and will be of great support to their teammates and respective coaching staff. SACCSS Golf The annual SACCSS Golf Tournaments for both junior and senior players occurred on the 22nd of February. The senior team, consisting of Ben Serpell, Jack Doyle, Jack Watkins and Boden Mugridge had an early 8am start at the picturesque Werribee Park golf course. After a tight struggle Ben Serpell shot a 77 around the course to repeat his second placing from last year, as well as taking out the longest drive competition. The boys performed well to finish second in the overall standing on the day, behind Mackillop College. The junior team, consisting of Cody Munro, Zac Storer, Jarryd Martin, Joshua Peters, Joshua Oldfield and Luke Syme travelled to the Airport Golf Course. Our junior golfers performed extremely well with Jarryd Martin shooting a 40 for 9 holes to take out the individual medal for the day, and Jarryd and Joshua Peters coming second in the pair’s event. Overall CRC finished 2nd behind Salesian College, so there is a very bright future in the world of golf at CRC. SACCSS Senior Cricket Round 1 of the SACCSS senior cricket tournament started last week with CRC playing Caroline Chisolm Catholic College at Arnolds Creek Reserve. Tight bowling saw us bowl out Caroline Chisolm for 80 runs off 18.5 overs. Francesco Cicalese was the star with the ball with the figures 3/3 off 2 overs, and Jack Doyle, Liam Thurn and Joel Salvatore taking 2 wickets each. Batting second we scored the required runs in 11.3 overs, with Aaron Clarke making 35 not out. Next Friday, the team travels to Epping to play St Monica’s for top spot on the ladder and a home semi-final berth. Grease Production - Parent Volunteers Rehearsals have started well for this year's musical "Grease". As with all shows, the performance is going to need costumes and props. If you have any interest in helping out with prop collection or have any sewing skills, we would love to hear from you. Please contact our musical team if you are interested in helping in any way by emailing musical@crcmelton.com.au Looking forward to a fabulous show, Michelle Moeser Performing Arts Coordinator Second hand Uniform The sustainable school shop has a full range of second hand uniform available.
