Kenya immersion experience Best wishes to our staff and senior students who leave for Kenya this Friday. They will visit the Brother Beausang School in Embulbul over the next two weeks where they will assist students with their schooling as they join in the daily life of the school. Staff and students will present our fundraising donation towards building a netball court for their students. ICT Survey Thanks to parents who completed the recent survey on ICT devices. I also acknowledge the parents who emailed me with additional comments regarding ICT in the school. Several parents commented that the school needs to look closely at providing an eBook approach, so we will research that aspect. House Athletics Carnival The annual House Athletics Carnival is this Thursday. It is a compulsory day for students to attend. Further information regarding the carnival is included on Page 3 of this newsletter. Sports Days Weather Review Policy For all College Sports Days, weather conditions and venue safety will be reviewed on the previous afternoon and if the Carnival needs to be postponed, an SMS will be sent to all families advising of such. Normal College classes will operate on the day if the event is postponed. Weather checks will occur at 2.30pm on the day before and 7.30am on the day of if conditions worsen.

As per our College Policy, weather conditions and track safety will be reviewed on Wednesday afternoon and if the Carnival needs to be postponed, an SMS will be sent to all families advising of such. Trade Training Centre Tour - Parents and Friends Meeting A reminder that a tour of TTC will be held on Wednesday March 26 at 6.30pm. Year 7 – 11 classes finish on Wednesday, April 2 at 3.20pm. Parent - Student - Teacher Interviews – Wednesday, April 2 (4 - 7pm) / Thursday, April 3 (1 - 7.30pm). Indonesian Trip staff and students leave on Thursday, April 3. VCE Unit 3/4 and Senior VCAL classes operate Period 1 & 2 on Thursday, April 3 (before P-S-T) Friday, April 4 is a Staff Professional Learning day (no classes).

Please note that Term 2 begins on Tuesday, April 22, as the Monday is Easter Monday.


Term 1 Reports and Parent-Student-Teacher Interviews

Winter Uniform Term 2

Interim Reports are now available through our Parent Portal (they are not posted home). If you have any difficulty accessing your Portal, then please contact the College Office or email itsupport@crcmelton.com.au. As part of the report, a recommendation of attendance at our first Parent-Student-Teacher interviews is included. Out first Parent-Student-Teacher interviews take place on April 2 & 3. On the Wednesday, normal College classes operate but on the Thursday, only VCE Unit 3/4 Classes and Senior VCAL classes will operate Periods 1 & 2. An information sheet on how to book interviews is contained as part of the package mailed home. It is expected that students attend interviews with their parents/guardians.

The CRC uniform is a very smart and attractive uniform when it is worn correctly. The requirements are set out in the student diary and below.

Stations of the Cross The Stations of the Cross will be performed on Tuesday April 1st by the Year 9 drama class. Parents, grandparents, relatives and friends of the cast are most welcome to attend. There will be 4 performances during class time, each performance will be viewed by a different year level. The performance times are: 10.45am 11.20am 12.05pm 12.40pm The Year 9 drama class would appreciate an audience to acknowledge and appreciate the fruits of their dramatic labour. If you are interested in attending any of the performance times listed above, please phone Samantha Frazzetto in the College office on 9743 6522 to RSVP, no later than Monday 31st March. On the day of the performance, please make your way to the main office, where student ushers will greet you upon arrival. Failing to wear the uniform correctly can result in points being given. The PE uniform is only worn when the student has a timetabled PE or Drama class, or when otherwise specified by the College Leadership team. Students are only permitted to wear one plain silver or gold stud or small sleeper in the ear, no facial piercing is allowed. We look for your support in ensuring your son or daughter is wearing the College uniform correctly to and from school. Robert Blackley Deputy Principal - Students Parents & Friends Payment for Parents & Friends is now overdue. The fee is $15 per family if you have completed 5 hours voluntary work last year. New families and families who have not completed 5 hours voluntary work are required to pay $115.

Date: Thursday 27th March 2013 Arrival: CRC Melton at 8.30am Dismissal: From CRC Melton at 3.20 pm Venue: Wyndham Sporting Complex, Hoppers Lane, Werribee. Uniform: Full College PE uniform with house coloured top permitted. Running shorts permitted for racing only. Meals: BYO lunch – BBQ and drinks provided for fundraising purposes. Transport: Bacchus Marsh Coaches Attendance: Compulsory (TAFE/VET students excepted)

On Tuesday the 18th of March, 6 students made their way to Melbourne Park to compete in the SACCSS Senior Tennis Tournament. Whilst everyone played their best, 2 students were fortunate enough to make it to the grand final - Ryan Holzer and Jack Morrissey in the Boys Doubles (B). Playing a thrilling game the boys lost 5-3. Explanatory Notes: Uniform: Students not wearing appropriate attire for the day will be sent home. Although the forecast is clear, students should be prepared for cold weather and possible showers. Year 12 students have permission to wear dress up of an appropriate nature. Attendance: Attendance is compulsory and students who do not attend will be expected to provide a written explanation or doctors certificate on the following day. Meals: Sausages and cans of drink will be sold at reasonable prices raising funds for the Br. Beausang Catholic Education center. Sausages $2.00, Burgers in Bread with salad $4.00, Drinks from $2.00. Transport: Students must be in homeroom on time to prepare for the boarding of busses. Parents are asked to avoid bus loading zones during drop off and pick up of students. Late students will be sent to the library and will wait to board the final bus after having their respective rolls amended. Parent Attendance: Direct family members are welcome at the carnival however there will not be room aboard busses. We ask that all visitors to the carnival ensure they sign in on arrival and then also sign out before departing. We also strongly encourage visitors to avoid signing out students before the official carnival closing. Awards & Recognition: Medals will be awarded to 3 students from each house deemed to be the best representatives of the house based on participation, team spirit and support for the College Ethos. These awards will be given at Junior, Intermediate and Senior level as judged by house captains and staff on the day. Athletics Age Champions will be announced after the SACCSS Athletics competition.

Melbourne Theatre Company’s Year 11 Ambassador Program Congratulations to Anyuop Dau, who has been successful in her application to be a part of The Melbourne Theatre Company’s Year 11 Ambassador Program. Within her role as an ambassador, Anyuop will have the opportunity to meet with other ambassadors from across Melbourne on a monthly basis, to view theatrical performances and to further develop her understanding of the performing arts. The Graduates Program – Melbourne Theatre Company CRC Melton Performing Arts is very pleased to announce that Sophie Martin of Year 12 has been invited to participate within the Melbourne Theatre Company Young Graduates Program. In 2013, Sophie was the successful applicant nominated by CRC Melton, into the Young Ambassadors Program. The Graduates Program is usually offered to university aged students, however this year for the first time, they have offered it to senior secondary students. We wish both Anyuop and Sophie well in representing CRC within the MTC community.
