27th November, 2012 Reflection Christ The King Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death— even death on a cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father . (Phil 2: 5–11).

Bishop Santo’s Visit

Shared Stories

Last Thursday, CRC Melton hosted special visitors from South Sudan including Bishop Santo Lako, Monsignor Roko Taban , Fr. Samuel Akock and Deacon George Piech Meat. The purpose of their visit was to make a connection between the church in Australia and the church in Southern Sudan. The Bishop met with staff, and addressed a Year 7 Assembly before engaging in conversation with several of our Sudanese students. He spoke with staff and students about the current situation in Southern Sudan and especially encouraged the students who have come to Australia from Sudan to work hard as they have so many opportunities in Australia. He invited us to visit his country in the upcoming years, so watch this space!

Last Tuesday a group of students led by Paul Butler travelled to Star Of The Sea College in Brighton, for the launch of this year’s Shared Stories anthology. Shared Stories is an anthology of writing and artwork done by students across twelve Melbourne schools, including CRC Melton. This year’s special guest speaker was Najaf Mazari a former Afghan refugee and now a successful businessman and co-author of the best selling book, The Rugmaker of Mazar-e-Sharif. Congratulations to all students and staff involved in Shared Stories.
