29th August, 2017 Reflection Giving praise because they do what they were created to do God our Father, you made the great lights in our sky: the sun to rule in the day, and the moon and the stars in the night - all because your great love lasts for ever. Our sun and moon and the stars that you call by name all give you praise, because they do what they were created to do. Lead me, Father, to reflect the light of Christ your Son and so live fully as, in your love, you created me to do. Amen.

Dear Parents and Students, Focus on Refugees This week, the Catholic Church urges all Australians to acknowledge the plight of refugees, especially the children, both in Australia and around the world. The 2017 theme: “Child Migrants, the Vulnerable and the Voiceless”, alerts us to the needs of the most defenceless and encourages us to reflect on how we can help the world’s 10 million refugees. Pope Francis reminds us that there have always been refugees, those who are on the move in search of a better life. This is part of history even in biblical times. He says: The Church encourages us to affirm that no one is a stranger in the Christian community which embraces “every nation, tribe and tongue” (Rev 7:9). Each person is precious. The worth of any institution is measured by the way it treats people - preserving the dignity of human beings - particularly when they are vulnerable. So, Pope Francis urges us to work towards protection, integration and long-term solutions for refugees in our community. Parents & Friends Meeting There is a Parents & Friends meeting tomorrow night, Wednesday 30th August at 7.30pm.
