Awards Night

Student Work

We have had a great response from families who plan to attend Awards Night tomorrow night. It looks to be a full house, so if families can be here ready for a 7.00pm start. I look forward to seeing you there.

Two additional seats for students have been added to the College grounds thanks to the work of three Year 11 students. Bailey Rhodes, Taylah Burfurd and Corey Hanley, as part of their design brief for Design and Technology, planned and constructed two strong and sturdy seats that rim the College oval. As you can see from the photos below the students have done great job and no doubt the seats will be greatly appreciated by all those who sit on them. The area will be completed with paving in the near future. We look forward to further work being developed and constructed by the students and thank Bailey, Taylah and Corey for their contribution.

Mark Sheehan Principal End of Year Arrangements Year 7-9 The final day for Year 7 & 8 students will be on Friday December 5. It is a normal school day therefore students are required to attend. The students will celebrate with a Year Level Mass, Year Level Assembly to recognise student achievements, Homeroom assemblies and finish with a BBQ lunch provided by the College. Students will be permitted to wear their PE uniform and will be dismissed at 1.30pm. For those students needing to stay until bus pick up, the College will provide supervision until 3.20pm. Buses will be operating on the normal school times. White Ribbon Day-Stamp out violence against women Last week the College supported White Ribbon Day November 25 with a sausage sizzle and sale of white ribbons. A group of Year 8 students ran the BBQ and sold white ribbons, they raised $460. The money will be donated to a local women’s refuge. Thank you to Boden Mugridge, Dominic Bament, Bianca Ottone, Jai Whitehand, Ethan Valentine, Imogen Goullett, Kylie Schembri, Amel Tong, Livinia Mifsud and Kyle Tuckerman and all those students and staff who purchased a white ribbon or sausage from the BBQ.

Early Notice Summer Uniform 2015 As of next year, students will only be permitted to wear plain white sport socks whilst in PE uniform. Black sports socks are not permitted. This is stated in the 2015 student diary. Robert Blackley Deputy Principal-Students

This will ensure they get off to great start in their 2015 VCE studies. Year 9 students will have their City Experience Activities from tomorrow (Wednesday) to Friday. Mr McCann and Ms Nowak have put together a fantastic program for the students that enables them to have personal choice in their activities and finish off with the Amazing Race. This City orientation will really benefit the students in their future Melbourne visits, especially for those who undertake Work Experience in Melbourne next year. Year 7 & 8 students finish formal classes on Thursday and then have end of year activities run at the College on Friday. As previously notified, students finish activities at 1.30pm. 2014 Reports All Semester 2 reports will be available through our Parent Access Module (PAM). Year 7-9 Digital textbooks 2015

Care Monkey Password re-set

As this is the first time the College is working with digital texts following the introduction of the iPads, it is worth reminding people how it works. The Digital textbooks are not included on your booklist. To make the transition easier, the College has purchased the Jacaranda bundle of Digital textbooks for all students in Years7-9 and the cost of this will be included on the Fee Statement sent in February 2015. This process has allowed us to ensure that each student has access to the Digital resources. Over the last week, the Year 7 and 8 students of 2014 have been going through an introduction to their 2015 Digital textbooks and most of them have successfully created their Jacplus account to access their Digital texts. Therefore, the booklist is much shorter than in previous years. It also means that there can be no “reselling” of texts as the bundle is an annual license which will be examined as to value and worth before booklists are prepared for the next school year. If you have any questions please email Michael Hill – mhill@crcmelton.com.au

Parents experiencing problems accessing the link to re-set their Care Monkey password can contact Care Monkey on 1300 661 746. There are still a number of students whose details have not been uploaded into Care Monkey. The school requests this to be completed by the 8th December. Parents experiencing problems or if you have any questions please contact the office. We appreciate your assistance.

Changes to the Secondary Schools Tax File Number Program in 2015 The Secondary Schools Tax File Number (TFN) Program will not continue beyond 31 December 2014. This means that School TFN forms will no longer be processed beyond this date. How students can apply for a TFN from 1 January 2015 The Australian Taxation Office in partnership with Australia Post is making it easier for individuals to apply for a TFN. Applying online is the fastest and most convenient way for students to get a TFN. More information on applying online can be found at ato.gov.au by searching for 'QC27248' Students who are unable to visit a participating Australia Post office will need to complete the application form Tax file number - application or enquiry for individuals form (NAT 1432). More information about lodging this form can be found at ato.gov.au by searching for 'QC22604'

Heat Stroke and Heat Exhaustion This week the school has had 2 students develop symptoms of Heat Exhaustion. This occurs when your body cannot keep itself cooled. Please take the time to read the attached flyer from St John’s Ambulance on heat induced conditions. On hot days, please remind your child to drink plenty of water before starting an outdoor activity and to drink extra water throughout the day even if they don’t feel thirsty.
