2nd June, 2015 Reflection The Most Holy Trinity God the Father, we praise and bless you because you are the ‘Abba’ of Jesus, and our Father, also lavishing us with your compassion and forgiveness. God the Son, we praise and bless you because you are God’s Word in human flesh, revealing on earth God’s forgiveness and compassion. God the Holy Spirit, we praise and bless you because you are the breath of God’s love and you breathe in us. God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we praise and bless you. You are God, through eternity. To you we direct our love, forever and ever, Amen.

Preparation for Exams

Important Dates

Students across the school will be sitting formal exams over the next week or so. The old adage is “failure to prepare is preparing to fail” so I hope that all students spend the extra time in their preparation for exams. Families too can support their sons and daughters by nurturing a “study climate” in the household — structured TV time, few social interruptions, a healthy diet, exercise and sleep cycles. Best wishes to all students in their exams.

Friday, June 5 is a Professional Learning day for staff. This is a student free day. Monday, June 8 is the Queens’ Birthday Public Holiday. Monday, June 22 is the College mid-year Report Finalisation and Professional Learning day. This is a student free day. Students Achievements

Mark Sheehan Princiapl School Photos Full school photos were held last week, it was very impressive to see, all but a few students, in the full winter uniform. Some students and families were unable to have their photo taken last week. The school photographers are returning this Thursday morning June 4th for a catch up of those students. There is still the opportunity to place orders online up until 10 days from the day of the photos if you haven’t already done so. Follow the link shop.arphotos.com.au/schoolorder and use the ordering code CCM687. Robert Blackley Deputy Principal-Students

Also a big congratulations to the following teams who have progressed to the semi-finals.

Celebration Day Last Tuesday, CRC enjoyed its annual Celebration Day. Students began the day with Mass at their parishes, then travelled to school for a day of activities and events. There was a carnival atmosphere through the presence of jumping castles and rides, and delicious snacks as well as our yearly talent show and a line up of other contests. A relatively new and important part of our celebration day tradition is the presence of community based charities and organisations to help inform students about not only how they can be assisted when in need, but how they can give back to their community and help others. Money raised throughout the day will be donated to Br Beausang in Kenya, McAuley Community Services and Orygen Youth Health in an effort to assist those who are in need. The day was considered a success as we have raised $9,300 for our chosen organisations and we all enjoyed a well earned day of relaxation and fun for all. Corey Vella Deputy Media Leader

Girls volleyball Girls basketball Girls netball Boys AFL We have yet to confirm who we will be playing in the semi-finals, however it looks like several teams will be playing Salesian College in Sunbury. Semi-finals will take place on Wednesday 10th of June with the Grand Finals taking place the following week on Wednesday 17th of June. Senior Sport Last week saw both the senior football and netball teams in action again with our Netballers recovering from the previous week to defeat Emmanuel College 48-24 at home. For the first time in the schools short senior history, the senior AFL team took on CRC Sydenham in the first ever Bruce Runnalls cup. Bruce was Melton’s Deputy Principal before becoming Principal at CRC Sydenham and had a great passion for sport. In a close fought match, CRC Melton came from behind to take out the cup 12-6-78 to 12-4-76. The final round of senior netball and football occurs on Tuesday 16th of June with our netballers taking on Kolbe for a spot in the grand final and the AFL team travelling to Penola and hopefully securing its second win for the season, and remaining in division 1 of the competition for next season.
