30th August, 2016 Reflection Christ our Morning Star O Christ, our Morning Star, Splendour of Light Eternal, shining with the glory of the rainbow, come and waken us from the greyness of our apathy, and renew in us your gift of hope. Amen.

Dear Parents and Students, I recently attended a PD session at CRC Caroline Springs with Dr George Otero on Family School Partnerships (FSP). The focus was on the development of partnerships between schools, families and communities by personalising learning, connecting parents and the community and extending learning opportunities. Attending the session with me were Rob Blackley, Narelle Layton, Kerrie Ann Matthews and Shaun Coates as members of the Leadership team, plus Elise Nowak who is doing her Masters study in this area. Elise has been surveying students and parents in Years 10 and 11 to find out more about the various connections between school and family, with a particular focus on student learning. If you would like to know more have a look at George’s website http://relationalearning.com/ or email Elise at school – enovak@crcmelton.com.au Congratulations to Mitchell Wills, 12 Dominic, who has been appointed as Male Captain for the Victorian School Sports Swimming Team. The National competition begins on the 15th September. Good luck Mitch! School Improvement Surveys 2016 - Have your say We are seeking your participation in school improvement surveys to help shape the ongoing improvement of our school for the students in our care. A very big thank you to the 12 parents who have completed the survey. We still require another 20 parents to complete the survey. If you are willing to complete the survey please email: kmatthews@crcmelton.com.au Our School Improvement Report is an invaluable resource in our ongoing pursuit of improvement. This helps us to identify what is going well and not so well and the ways in which we can improve and further develop our school. We would therefore greatly appreciate your continued support by completing the survey this year. Re-enrolment Reminder A reminder to parents that a response for re-enrolment is due by this Friday, 2nd September. Re-enrolment was sent via CareMonkey. Mark Sheehan Principal

John Christie Deputy Principal (Staff) From the Deputy Principal (Students) Whitten Project Two Year 10 students, Boden Mugridge and Madeleine Rizzo have been involved, with the City of Melton and the Western Bulldogs, in the organisation and promotion of the Walk the West day on 3 September 10am-1pm . The walk begins at Melton Youth Services. It requires a gold coin donation to participate with the funds being used to support young people suffering with mental illness. You don't have to be a bulldogs supporter to be involved. Rob Blackley Deputy Principal (Students) Parent help needed This year we introduced Certificate II in Allied Health Assistance and the course is going very well. However, each student is expected to do a one week work placement per year in the health industry. We are seeking help from parents who may have contacts in the health services and may be able to take one of our students for a one week placement. The course’s focus is very broad and can include such employment as physio, pharmacy, aged care, podiatry, x-ray or medical. To help them fit into the workplace, all students will already have completed TAFE modules focusing on infection control and communication. If you are able to help or have some ideas that I can follow up please contact me by email: mmcgonegal@crcmelton.com.au
