30th October, 2012 Reflection All Saints Day, the day on which Catholics celebrate all the saints is Thursday November 1 st. It is a surprisingly old feast. It arose out of the Christian tradition of celebrating the martyrdom of saints on the anniversary of their martyrdom. When martyrdoms increased during the persecutions of the late Roman Empire, local dioceses instituted a common feast day in order to ensure that all martyrs, known and unknown, were properly honoured. "Halloween" is a contraction of "All Hallows Eve," and it designates the vigil of All Hallows Day, more commonly known today as All Saints Day. ("Hallow," is an old English word for saint.) All Saints Day, both the feast and the vigil, have been celebrated since the early eighth century, when they were instituted by Pope Gregory III in Rome. Father, All-Powerful and ever-living God, today we rejoice in the holy men and women of every time and place. May their prayers bring us your forgiveness and love We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Year 12 Graduation week

Parents and Friends meeting

We had a terrific week last week as we farewelled our first cohort of Year 12 students. The Year 12 breakfast was a sea of colour as our Year 12s dressed up in ‘Hollywood’ theme. The Graduation Mass celebrated by Fr Michael Moody and Fr John O’Reilly was a special occasion with many families in attendance, including grandparents and siblings of the Graduates. On Thursday night, we finished the week with the Graduation Dinner at Ultima Receptions with the Year 12 students, their parents and staff. A special acknowledgement to Chantelle Gauci and her team of Homeroom teachers. Well done!

There will be a Parents and Friends meeting this Wednesday October 31, starting at 7.30pm. Staff attending will be John Christie, Nathan Guthridge and Peter Drew. All welcome.

Theft from maintenance shed Unfortunately someone broke into our Maintenance shed last Sunday and stole tools and a trailer. If any parent, who was passing the school on Sunday, saw some suspicious activity, could they please let the school know?
