7th October, 2014 Reflection Fruits of the Kingdom As members of the Kingdom of the Father, let us consider the fruits of the Kingdom. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. (Colossians 3:15-16) God our Father, may we always be thankful for the Word of Christ in our hearts. Help us respect and seek the best for each other as we endeavour to produce the fruits of Your Kingdom. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Welcome back to Term 4
College iPads 2015
Over the September holidays, Powercor and the school established a new electrical sub station which will help us cater for the increased demand due to the Trade Training Centre and Performing Arts Centre. After much planning and some long days the work was completed late on the Wednesday of the first week of the holidays, just in time for the Year 12 practice exams to commence. Now we look with interest as the final work is completed for the Performing Arts Centre- ie car park, carpet, seating and lights and sound. I hope to host an Open afternoon for parents and the community later this term for this new building. The official Opening will be in March next year.
As previously announced, in 2015 all students will have an iPad. The process of rolling out these iPads will commence next week with our current Year 10 students. A letter was mailed out to all Year 10 families at the end of Term 3, stating that iPads will be distributed next Wednesday (October 15) and Thursday (October 16). Students need to return their current ACER Tablets before iPads will be distributed, this can take place from next Monday (October 13). To ensure that the iPads are fully utilised as a learning tool in 2015, the College is running a staff Professional Learning day on Friday, October 31. Staff will be involved with specific ‘app’ sessions and training. This is a student free day.

2015 Italy Trip Unfortunately the proposed 2015 Italy trip has been cancelled. There were not enough students and families who expressed interest in the trip to make it viable. Mrs Conte will contact all families to organise refunds of any deposits. We hope that in 2017 we will have enough interest to run the trip. John Christie Deputy Principal (Staff) Parents & Friends Meeting There will be a Parents & Friends meeting Wednesday, 29th October at 7.30pm.
VCAL Soccer Match
Performing Arts Showcase
On Monday 8th September VCAL students held a soccer match against the teachers. The match was VCAL All-Stars vs. Teachers United. The match was full of action with 11 teachers taking on 8 students during the first half. As the second half commenced the referee (Luke Serra) took charge and faired up the game. VCAL worked hard but the teachers were becoming harder to beat which led to the final score being VCAL All Stars 1-4.
Auditions shall be held this Thursday 9th October 3.30pm – 5.00pm for the upcoming performance works ‘Performing Arts Showcase’ to be staged in February 2015. This is a new initiative within the performing arts department, which will allow for drama and dance students from Years 7 -10 to showcase their talents. Students are able to sign up for the audition process on the notice board outside the drama studio. The performing arts staff team looks forward to an amazing afternoon of hard work, creativity and talent. Performing Arts Department

SACCSS Athletics On Monday 15th September, the CRC Melton Athletics Team travelled to Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium to compete in the 2014 SACCSS Athletics competition. A team of over 90 of our best athletes came together across both track and field for the days competition. Joined by other Division One schools including Mackillop College Werribee, Salesian College Sunbury, Emmanuel College Point Cook, St. Monica’s College Epping and Marymede Catholic College of South Morang, it was all set to be a fierce day of competition at an exceptionally high standard. Throughout the day a number of state and national records were challenged across a range of events only further emphasizing the quality of competition available to our students. With teams placing in most age group aggregate results I was incredibly proud of our College and its students. Special mentions must go to Age champion winner Liam Martin and Age champion 2nd place Emily O’Rourke for their individual achievements on the day. I must also thank Mr. Brown, Miss Brown, Miss. Nowak and Ms. Matthews for their efforts in preparing and assisting the team both in the lead up to competition and on the day. Well done to all. Dance Excursion On the 23rd September, during the holidays, 40 students attended a Dance excursion to the world famous Nutcracker Ballet. The students had a lovely evening eating dinner at Southbank and watching an amazing piece of Ballet at the State Theatre Melbourne. The students were thrilled with the technical dancing, breathtaking costumes and set.
