9th June, 2015 Reflection The Body and Blood of Christ ‘The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.’ 1 Cor 10:16–17 Through the gift of the Eucharist, may we become more fully the mystery we celebrate: bodies broken in love, lives poured out in service, through Christ, our Lord, whose body was broken and whose blood was poured out. Amen.

CURE for MND

Reconciliation Week

It was good to be present yesterday at the MCG to see the support for Neale Daniher and the Motor Neurone Disease Foundation. The Cure for MND foundation aims to raise the profile of Motor Neurone Disease within Australia and abroad in the hopes that increased awareness may lead to not only better care for those affected by the disease, but also increased funding for vital research into finding a cure.

Reconciliation Week is celebrated across Australia each year between 27 May and 3 June. These dates honour two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey—the anniversaries of the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court's Mabo decision. The national theme for this year's Reconciliation Week, "It's time to change it up!", encourages the community to take renewed action and spark change in achieving reconciliation. In recognition of Reconciliation week, students and staff had the opportunity to attach ribbons to a piece of wood. There is about 250 metres of ribbon on the wood and it is displayed in the library.

The MND foundation are passionate about funding the best and brightest MND research within Australia with the aim of expediting discoveries of potential treatments for MND sufferers, and ultimately to finding a cure. The foundation will continue to push MND into the spotlight in the hope that by increasing the public profile of Motor Neurone Disease within the Australian and wider communities, governments and pharmaceutical companies will take up the fight and join us in a quest for viable treatments, and an ultimate cure.
