The International Glamour Girls in support of the Donna Nickolay Foundation

Friday 22nd November 2024 Sewell Group, Craven Park, Hull, HU9 5HE

The Donna Nickolay Foundation was set up to maintain the memory of a truly remarkable young lady, who at 18 ventured to the US to fulfill her dream of being a footballer and goalkeeper.

She was always the ‘go to’ for her massive circle of friends around the world when life felt tough.

Unfortunately Donna suffered with her mental health and sadly died on 1st November 2019.

The International Glamour Girls is a fabulous International Drag Show as seen in Turkey and touring the UK.

Mark and Wendy Nickolay, parents, told Our Goole: “The show is to raise money for the new Donna Nickolay Foundation which has been set up in Donna’s name with the backing of Hull City Ladies FC.

“Donna played in goal for them for a number of years then went on to get a sponsorship in the US.

“The charity will help females who are struggling with their mental health by helping via sportputting them through coaching, refereeing or playing.

“We are hoping to attract 250 people for a fun night of entertainment with all proceeds raised going into the Foundation.”

Tickets are £15 each. If you would like to support the Donna Nickolay Foundation you can purchase tickets for The International Glamour Girls by contacting Wendy on 07951 546445 or emailing wendywillow24@yahoo.com

FROM A POLICE

Outstanding gradings following

Last month, Humberside Police received three “outstanding” gradings across eight areas of core policing, the highest out of any other force in the UK, in the latest HMICFRS inspection report which has been released

“Humberside Police is one of the top performing forces in the UK, and the journey we have been on since 2017, when the force was in what was then referred to as “special measures”, highlights exactly how far we have come to be awarded outstanding grades.”

The inspections took place from January to June this year, and looked at eight key areas of policing including police powers, prevention, responding to the public, protecting vulnerable people, investigations, managing offenders, workforce, and leadership.

following HMICFRS inspection

Following the release of the results, Chief Constable Judi Heaton said: “I am delighted with the report, which is a true testament and credit to all officers, staff and volunteers who have contributed and played their part in this achievement. It has been a team effort by colleagues across all roles in the force and I hope that they are all as proud as I am today.

“Humberside Police is one of the top performing forces in the UK, and the journey we have been on since 2017, when the force was in what was then referred to as “special measures”, highlights exactly how far we have come to be awarded outstanding grades.

“Even with our transformation and improvements, this will always remain a journey for us; we will never be complacent, and we will always strive to achieve.”

HMICRFS carry out inspections of all police forces and fire and rescue services across the UK, to ensure the best possible service is being delivered to the public and to flag any areas of concern.

This is the first inspection and report that has utilised a new methodology and evaluation process and is different to previous reports compiled as to the criteria and how gradings are awarded.

Humberside Police received three outstanding grades for prevention and deterrence, protecting vulnerable people and building and supporting the workforce, which is the highest number of outstanding grades of any force, four good grades in use of powers, responding to the public, managing offenders, and leadership and management and one requires improvement for investigations, which mainly highlighted some required the need for more regular supervision, and more through completion of standardised templates.

Chief Constable Heaton continued: “The report recognised our successes in keeping people safe, reducing crime and ensuring victims are given an effective service and this is undoubtedly down to the hard work of our teams across the force.

“The grades achieved by the force are testament to the steadfast commitment of our officers, staff and volunteers.

“Despite the many challenges faced in policing, not least the violent disorder we saw over the summer, they have been relentless in their pursuit of achieving excellence and indeed our performance has improved in several areas since the Inspection.”

This month, local property expert Phil Jones from Link Agency talks to us

Current local property market figures

The DN14 property market has slowed a little over the past month. Currently (at time of going to press) there are 670 properties listed for sale on Rightmove which are in our postal area.

Included in this figure, 259 are under offer and going through conveyance. So in reality only 411 are being offered for sale.

According to Rightmove 23 % of properties which go under offer will fall through, which is quite shocking. The best way to avoid this is to use an

agent which has a good track record when it comes to managing sales progression. Online selling agents are the worst in this regard, we know from salutary experience. Always use local experts. If you end up in a chain and one of the agents is an online seller, then that is not good news!

Always check that the agency holds the appropriate qualifications. But experience is just as important. At Link Agency our team is all qualified to minimum level 3 in their chosen discipline, be it sales or lettings.
