Tadcaster hat shop Simply Devine has done it again!
Liz Devine-Wright has taken two titles - Wedding Boutique and Specialist Wedding Supplier of the Year for Yorkshire, and Specialist Wedding Supplier of the Year for the North of England in the English Wedding Awards 2023
This is the fifth win for Liz at the English Wedding Awards. She has previously won several awards over the years, but this year’s final comes on the anniversary of the opening of her Simply Devine specialist hat shop 19 years ago, and also her own 60th birthday.
Liz designs her own headwear from her destination hat shop on York Road, Tadcaster. She also sells her creations to other small boutiques and shops up and down the country. And yes, that is her real name, she was Liz Devine until marrying her own Mr Wright.
She has also been nominated in the BizBubble Awards 2023, the People’s Choice Awards 2023 and the Small Awards 2023.
Commenting on the win, Liz said: “Fortunately, we have come through the last couple of years following Covid closures and wedding cancellations so are celebrating the wins and our milestone of completing 19 years in business.”
A spokesman for the English Wedding Awards 2023 said: “We are thrilled to have been able to celebrate the very best of the wedding industry in England. The winners truly deserve this
recognition for their exceptional work, and we hope that their success will inspire others in the industry to strive for excellence.
“Each winner demonstrated exceptional skill, talent, and dedication to their craft and should be proud of their achievements. We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to all the winners and finalists.”
Liz prides herself on exceptional customer service. “It is this level of customer service which I believe has helped us to win awards and stay in business during these very challenging, difficult times;” said Liz.
“We are very much open for business for the upcoming wedding season with our new 2023 collection of hats, hatinators and fascinators in the latest designs and colours. Look out for vivid magenta and lovely lilacs, as well as the ever-popular pinks, blues and creams for mothers of the bride or groom.”

Local butcher’s employee wins national award
Amelia Dayson, local employee for Firths Quality Foods in Boston Spa, has taken home an award with the Institute of Meat
female to pass her Level 2 butchery in the country. This isn’t the first time Millie has been nominated for an award, she was previously nominated and shortlisted for the Rising Star within the Women in Meat Industry Awards, however, unfortunately did not win. Millie is still the youngest ever female to pass her Level 2, she is now doing her Level 3.
Not this time though! Tadcaster Echo had a chat with shop manager, Michael Margiotta, to find out more about the award. What award was won?
Amelia won the Lord Graham Endeavour Award with the Institute of Meat.
How long has Amelia worked for the company?
Amelia has worked for us for three years now, starting back in 2020 as a Saturday girl just before Covid.
How does Amelia feel to win the award?
Amelia said that she felt very proud to have been recognised and awarded. She also said that she is very grateful for the experience and being able to meet so many other amazing people in the meat industry from the awards.
What is Amelia’s biggest achievement?
Amelia’s biggest achievement is overcoming her anxiety. At the start of her time with us she kept herself to herself, but after being thrown into the deep end with how busy we got in 2020 with Covid she’s
come out of her shell a lot and is now able to do things she never would have thought of doing in January 2020. A huge well done to Millie from everyone at Tadcaster Echo, we cannot wait to see you winning more awards in the future!
