The Jackson Hope Foundation Transforming lives, restoring hope

The Jackson Hope Foundation is a peerto-peer support group aimed at providing a safe space for men to share, connect, and find solace in their mental health journeys.

Together, they transform lives, break the stigma, and restore hope through daily mental health support. Join their movement. #HopeEveryDay #CommunityStrength #EndTheStigma.

It is a place where men, aged 18 and over, can go and have a cuppa and a chat, share their stories and feel supported by other men. There is no judgement of any kind and Foundation welcomes people from all walks of life.

Den Maxfield, Lead Facilitator, told Thorne Local: “I was very nervous about starting to attend a men’s group as I didn’t know what to expect and felt a little embarrassed, especially in my local area. I was worried there might be people I knew there but after being given a nudge by my wife I went and I actually really enjoyed it!

“It was good to be able to chat to other guys who were going through similar things to me. Seeing that I wasn’t the only one suffering with my mental health made me feel a lot less isolated.

“It has been a great source of support for me, having somewhere to go each week and be amongst peers who ‘get it’. I am now in a much

more positive place and have begun facilitating groups after being asked by our founder Mark Jackson.”

Den now runs the Stainforth group which started in September 2024. Each week there has been a number of men joining them including local MP Lee Pitcher who even gave them a mention in the Houses of Parliament.

Den said: “It is great that I am able to use my experiences to help and support others and I would love to see more men coming along to see what we’re about.”

There is no shame in reaching out for help or support, you don’t have to go through it alone.

You can find details of these groups here:

Every Tuesday - Number 3, Princess Street, Doncaster Centre, Doncaster, 7pm-9pm.

Every Wednesday - Westfield Community Centre, Askern, 7pm-9pm.

Every Thursday - Woodlands Community Library, Woodlands, 7pm-9pm.
