creative and educational workshops which promise to be a blend of fun, learning and personal growth for your children throughout the summer holidays in Doncaster

Keeping your kids entertained during the school holidays can sometimes be daunting – luckily for you Print Imperials CIC has it covered.

Established in 2021, Print Imperials CIC offers a range of creative and educational workshops aimed at all age groups. Their programmes focus on employable skills through creative arts, including screen printing, digital art, sublimation, and more.

They engage with the local community by providing a creative outlet and learning opportunities that are often inaccessible. Through

partnerships with local schools and community groups, they also support underrepresented and disadvantaged groups, offering free sessions to those who might not otherwise afford such experiences.

In August, they are wrapping up their summer activities with a series of art and design workshops under the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme. In September, coinciding with their rebranding to Creative Push, they will launch a new series of workshops including writing, music, and performance workshops.

Each child will also enjoy healthy meals provided during the sessions, ensuring they have the energy to learn and play.

For more information or to book, scan the QR code and give your child a summer filled with excitement and learning.

Be free to be you with Sisters of Strength

Sisters of Strength is a ladies’ peer-to-peer support group and its main mission is to eradicate loneliness and boost mental health and wellbeing

Kelly-Marie Burns launched support group Sisters of Strength back in May, and eagerly greeted 10 ladies to their first session.

Thorne Local chatted to Sam Grundy, the secretary, to find out more about the group and what made her join such an inspirational group.

Sam is an Army veteran, divorced mum of two teenagers and previously an activity instructor and a dental nurse, and in 2001 she decided to combine both careers by joining the Army.

Unfortunately, Sam was medically discharged in 2005 with PTSD and fibrymyalgia.

“I struggled with my mental health, self-sabotage and extremely low confidence. After going through a marriage breakdown my confidence took a huge drop, I didn’t see a future, I had to start again in every aspect of my life.

“Six years ago I found Younique, an American multilevel marketing company that markets beauty products, or should I say it found me, I followed some presenters and decided to give it a go and my self-esteem and self-worth started to grow.

“Last March I had the thinking of “it’s now or never” and I threw myself into the challenge where I found out

just how strong and determined I was and my confidence was growing!

“Throughout 2023 I realised that with my experience of mindfulness and other tools I was given to help me I could actually help others. With that in mind the Wellness Workshop was born.

“I can honestly say that today I am confident, I am beautiful and my sense of humour has returned. My self-worth, selflove and self-belief is shining.

“I am taking part in brave the shave on Thursday 15th August at the Rugby Club in Thorne, it will include raffles and stalls

to increase my already growing pot of fundraising. I decided to do the shave because I know too many people that have lost their hair due to treatment and I am splitting the funds between Macmillan and Sisters of Strength.”

Sisters of Strength ladies peer-to-peer support group offers a warm welcoming environment for all women over the age of 18. They strive to create a comfortable place for people to “Be Free to Be You” allowing them to chat to new people, have fun and hopefully make new friends. Most importantly there’s always a selection of delicious home-baked goods, biscuits and a nice warm cuppa to enjoy.

Stuck at a crossroad and not sure where to turn? Let Sam help you with direction. She believes in you. Email sistersofstrength.24. uk@gmail.com or find them on Facebook: Sisters of Strength.

Local charity shop supporting local people

When Claire Mthethwa visited a number of charity shops two years ago, she was quite shocked at just how expensive they were, with some charging up to £12 for one item.

Claire is a member of Thorne Pentecostal Church, which was once an old primary school, where she decided to use two of the old classrooms and set up what is now a charity shop.

Claire has three volunteers who also belong to the church who help her run the shop, Katie, Annette and Margaret.

The charity shop was set up to support people within the local area with the profits made from the sale of all the donated items and clothes going back into the community. They stock all the essential items people

need to live on at a low price, all adult clothes are £1, children’s 50p and babies 20p.

They have donated to Doncaster Impact Team who help with homeless and vulnerable adults. They have also donated to local sports clubs supporting youngsters and inspiring them outside of school and home, and to Little Bunny’s Play Group which is run by the Methodist Church.

In the upcoming months they will be supporting their own church play group on a Monday and Thursday by providing them with a new soft play area helping parents and children come together to support one another.

If you would like to support the charity shop and the amazing work they are doing please visit Thorne Pentecostal Church on Peel Castle Road in Thorne.
