home-grown produce, each menu choice incorporates something with a local flavour. The aim is to support local producers and cottage industries as much as possible.

They grow their own potatoes and, of course, berries.

The beef is home reared or locally sourced. All fruit and vegetables are fresh from the field to the table, and even the delicious foreign cheeses are purchased from a local supplier. The menu is transformed every six months to showcase the diverse seasonal produce this area provides.

linting away in the final rays of early winter sunshine, sitting proudly and magnificently on the corner of Micklegate and New Millgate, Delilah’s sparkles like a precious gem.

Co-owners Eddie and Julie Rodgers are responsible for the transformation of the building, from a former clothes shop - to a training centre - to its present incarnation as Selby’s ‘swishest’ eatery.

A pair of devoted travellers, the husband and wife team were

roused by many mouthwatering meals enjoyed on trips to farflung shores, and determined that us North Yorkshire folk should not miss out.

Undaunted by the economic climate or a swathe of other fine places to eat locally, the duo set out single-mindedly to bring a certain ‘unique-chic’ to Selby. And boy - haven’t they succeeded!

After much debate – and a few late night ‘sampling sessions’ – the Wine & Dine team have decided on their ‘official’ cocktail of choice – the Mojito!

The traditional Cuban highball still tickles our taste buds despite an array of ‘new kids on the block’, and the fast moving trends of the drinks industry.

The art of making a good cocktail is not a skill to be taken lightly! To achieve that perfect mix, where no one flavour predominates is a true test of an accomplished bartender. Then there is the age-old ‘great debate’… shaken, or stirred?
