Capture your “mental ephemera” – thoughts, dreams, get-to-dos and ideas – and relax into your creative rhythm. Use this planner as a guide as you design a life with Breathing S.P.A.C.E.

S tillness. Find time to be still everyday. Traditional meditation, a walk in nature, whatever works for you. Whether it’s for 4 minutes or an hour. Schedule it.

P lay. Play is not just joyful and energizing — it’s deeply connected to our development and intelligence. And a strong correlation between success and playful activity has been shown. So make time to play! To laugh. Even a forced smile can improve your mood. Smile muscles activate endorphins and immune boosting T-cells.

A lignment. Merriam-Webster defines a calling as: “…a strong inner impulse toward a particular course of action especially when accompanied by conviction of divine influence.” Do at least one thing each day that’s in alignment with your calling.

C onnection. Get together, call, email, or write someone a note! Connect. E nergy. Stretch. Stand up. Move around. Dance. Do something to get your blood moving! © Creative Catalysts

Write it down. Write your schedule in your planner – this will solidify it in your mind. This makes it real. And schedule time for writing in your journal. Make it a habit. Write for 25 minutes first thing every morning. Inspired or not! Try “magnetic” journaling – that is, writing as if what you want already IS. You’ll begin to see it in your mind taking you one step closer to making it real. Pick a time each week (Sunday evenings work great) to go over the coming week’s schedule. If you use an electronic calendar, this is the time to make sure your appointments are transferred. And make sure you schedule time for journaling, creating, a brief intermission etc. Pay attention. Remind yourself everyday about what you have in your life. Oprah says “The single greatest thing you can do to change your life today would be to start being grateful for what you have right now. And the more grateful you are, the more you get.” Each day write down one thing you’re grateful for. At the end of each week transfer your gratitude list to the Gratitude Inventory at the back of the book. Page 6 |

Albert Einstein

See it. Visualize the life you desire. The more you see it in your mind’s eye, the easier it will be to believe it’s possible. Your brain doesn’t know the difference. Try this: close your eyes, imagine biting down on a slice of lemon... did your mouth water? See, there’s no lemon, but the visualization of it caused a physical reaction. The more you show your brain it’s possible, the more possible it is! Take your magnetic journaling one step further by adding images and ephemera. Randomly glue images that inspire you throughout your book, then when you get to one of them, let your writing be inspired by it. Own It. Look back at your day, take a breath and give yourself a gold star for what you’ve accomplished (big and small). Allow yourself to feel good about it! Instead of crossing things off as you finish them, try highlighting them in color to celebrate what you’ve accomplished.

Begin by creating your manifesto — a declaration of your intentions, motives, or views. Your present life stance. The10 things you “know for sure.” Write them down and then create a visual representation. It can be a collage of images or simply a color that reminds you of your direction. This manifesto may be for this 6-month period, or it may be something that sticks with you. Get a sense of the “big picture.” There are annual calendars for the next 2 years each with places for notes. Plus 12 months-worth of undated monthly calendars, with room for notes. Plug in what you know for sure about what’s coming up. At this point in your planning process, think about setting a regular time each week for uninterrupted time (for writing, getting caught up on reading, creating). Try choosing one day a week to not take any appointments, or even more radical, go off line! Now go forward into the week-by-week section and mark those days so you won’t “accidentally” schedule other things over your “creation day.” Try using a yellow highlighter to color in the day! It’s fun, and you can’t miss it! If it’s not scheduled, it’s not real! Find a regular time each week to look ahead. Write it down even if you use an electronic calendar. Planning Your Week: First, fill in your commitments. Then pick the that will set your creative rhythm. Music is good for the soul and for helping us keep focus. Each song is another in your Life Soundtrack (Lists Section). It’ll make a great play-list for your mp3 player! Next identify your — your 3 focus areas. Think of them like stepping stones in a river. During the week revisit your touchstones to make sure you haven’t slipped off into the rapids!

would be fun?” No judgment. Just flow. But SCHEDULE IT! It’s as important as any other appointment!!! Stay connected by using the planning section. Let these contacts be without an agenda. Simply making a connection. Letting them know you’re thinking of them. People remember when they are noticed! Finally, think about what you have to be and write it down. These items will be compiled to create your Gratitude Inventory in the Lists section.

Once a week take a from your routine to explore something that interests or inspires you. A “play date” with yourself. Ask yourself “what Page 8 |

Use these pages to capture the details of your projects. Keep your lists as simple as possible. Try grouping your action items according to “context” – the tool or location that is required to be able to complete an action. Contexts are typically indicated with the “@” sign: @work, @phone, @home, @errands, etc. The action items stay on the master context list and are only transferred to your schedule when you’re ready to do them. This eliminates long to-do lists that are impossible to complete. These groupings are useful when, for instance, you find yourself waiting to pick someone up, you can go to your @phone list and take care of a couple of these action items while you wait. Or you have time to kill before a meeting, go to your @errands list and knock off a couple of these items. Use these pages to sketch out ideas for events, projects, any idea you might have... use your imagination! Anything goes on these pages. There are blank and lined pages to accommodate your left and right brain strengths. . Finally, keep track of important get-to-dos, wanna-dos and other important stuff. Master lists — arranged by context — for those to-dos and errands that don’t fit within a particular project. Transfer to your schedule when you’re ready to actually do them.

Each week write down what you’re grateful for in the space provided. Then at the end of each week, copy your gratitude items to your Inventory ... Looking back on this list is sure to give you a boost!

Pick a song to be your theme song each week. Begin building the soundtrack of your life. Transfer these songs to the Soundtrack Playlist — and then create a real playlist to listen to!

Anxiety can be caused by not being able to find what you need. So, as you use your planner, note the page number of your meeting notes and idea topics in the Index. That way you’ll always be able find the information you need.
