Bandekar College of Fine Art, Applied Arts, Mumbai, he strived to create a new generation of illustrators and visualisers with a sense, sensibility and better understanding of the society. behance.net/SIDDHIRANADE
Tools of Tale-telling
Illustrator, Siddhi Ranade, takes us through his thought process and the key aspects that go into his illustrations. He, thereby, goes on to illuminate the various facets, such as geometry, colour and the nature of the subject; how they contribute to his work, and also why design needs to be timerelevant in constantly modifying times. Every tool has a crucial role. Geometry, patterns and symmetry are assets that enhance a certain piece of work. They add to the simplicity and alignment of the illustration. It enables one with various combinations during the execution, Siddhi feels. ‘Line’, though, is the dominating factor for him to get to that exact line that expresses the true meaning of the illustration. The ‘Colours’ are next which help him add a mood to it in a more dramatic way that further dominates the existence of the artwork produced. Colour speaks more than words. When Siddhi does portraits, he usually chooses to derive the colours from the life and experiences of his subjects. Through a brief exchange with the individual, he gets a tone of the colours from the way they talk and behave. “It’s all an entire palette performing in front of me,” he says, “All I have to do is just adjust it a little, and give justice to what I produce with respect to the subject. The colour gives individuality to the expression and the forms, narrating the best message of it”

The Wild Stone Code Range. Wild Stone makes a shift from a brand portraying primal aggression to claim refinement associated with more perfume-like
03 deodorants. Wild Code packaging aims to resolve this contradiction while retaining Wild Stone’s core equity of a quiet but intense masculine magnetism.
The Real Tea Range. A packaging redesign for Rungta Real Tea Range, now entering the big league in metros from tier-2 markets. A calm, straightforward presentation appropriate for a brand with little advertising support, to support a more extravagant personality.

GETTING 'ON HIRE'
CEO and Founding Director of Lopez Design, Anthony Lopez, provides a good look into what employers look for while looking for the new generation of designers, creators, innovators.
How do you land up with a job, and more importantly, how do you find the right job? The two are distinctly different. The right job must ideally balance what you are capable of doing and your future ambitions. It all comes down to how you approach job-seeking. Getting a job is an anxious business, let alone getting the right one. The first and foremost step is to do a self-strengths and capabilities analysis, giving yourself marks for both tangible skills and non-tangible abilities. Aside of looking at your skills, strengths and conceptual abilities, an interview panel will evaluate your portfolio based on how you showcase your work. Never try to mislead the interviewer. Title your entries, and present only your best, avoiding elementary work. Your portfolio should clearly demonstrate your strengths.
Finally, here are a few tips that summarise the key points to finding the right job. Believe in yourself. Be confident about who you are and what you are capable of. Present who you are honestly, and be yourself. Show positivity, and ensure it is demonstrated in every attempt throughout the process. Every firm has its own personality and character; See if there is a match, and write them individual mails. It is not very different from locating your desired home and the right landlord! I often tell my future clients that we need to check each other out to see if we are the right match. This is a good step to maintain.
Based on your self-assessment and portfolio, start to evaluate the type of job you would be interested in, and which you’d be fit for. Start short-listing firms, and study them carefully. In the case of Graphic Design or Visual Communication, there are many types of firms you can join: advertising, design studios or corporates. Every one of these will open up different roles requiring different strengths.
Your portfolio showcases not only your capabilities, but your personality – craft it well, and ensure you clearly communicate exactly what it is you are showcasing.
Decide your path, based on what will be the right for both you and the firm. Start writing individual mails to each firm. The best way is to draft a master letter, which you can modify to suit your pitch to each firm.
Never try to fit into a job you are not made for. It is best to be in a position of adding value, and being an asset to your firm and team. Any false attempt will take you down the snake instead of up the ladder
Connect the project to your role, contribution and impact it had. Most importantly, let your hiring panel know the context and the purpose.
