Founders’ Note Since I can remember I've always had an active imagination. I would look at things and create other things out of them. Similar to how people look at clouds and say what they see, but I'd look at more than just clouds. I'd look at things like a crack in the cement or a shadow from a tree. This sparked my desire to draw what I was imagining. I never took lessons to learn how to draw, I just started drawing my interpretation of things I saw or thought I saw. Sometimes the outcome would be similar to the original and sometimes I changed it up a little to make it what I thought it should be. Drawing has become a hobby for me that allows my creativity to just be what it's going to be. Having this creative outlet is therapy to me. It allows me an escape that if allowed I would do it for hours.

Founders’ Note I remember when I was younger I always had this one gift I looked forward to getting for Christmas. I’m sure most kids were looking forward to whatever the new toy was or getting the expensive thing they thought for sure they would get for Christmas. But for me it was a simple coloring book and crayons. Now this wasn’t any ordinary coloring book. It was a jumbo coloring book. So jumbo it would be standing in front of the Christmas tree so that it was the first thing I would see. So Jumbo that I could have three friends coloring with me at the same time and we all would have enough room to make sure we stayed in the line. I guess you could say my outlet for creativity was brewing then and I didn’t even know it. I still own a coloring book today. It’s not a jumbo one, but it allows me to explore colors and relax as I once did when I was younger. But I now realize that having a creative outlet is more than just creating. It is also exploring and sharing.

Creative Spotlight Mind Exploding with Thoughts I worry a lot. And because of that, I lose track of thoughts often. I worry about my grades, my looks, what people think about me...I feel like my head is exploding with thoughts all the time because I can’t think clearly. The worrying clouds my judgement and thoughts. The birds in the painting represent my exploding thoughts. Each bird has its own flow. Sometimes, I think I will never be good enough, but my friends and family—like the flock of birds—sticks together and keeps me going. My dream is for these worries and thoughts to be set free from my mind, as represented in the red/pink monochromatic painting.

Artist Bio Noah Windham is currently a 9th grade student at Williams Prep in Dallas, TX. He is originally from the DMV area and was born in Washington D.C. Noah is an aspiring artist that has won many awards, scholarships and features in local magazines for his artwork. His favorite drawings are black and white. He believes you can see the structure of the artwork better without adding all of the color. Although he has explored with color he does not let the opportunity to grow hold him back. When Noah is not drawing, he is winning tournaments for Fortnite. Noah wants to grow up and become an architect.

Creative Spotlight You Are God Art is a special thing that comes in all sorts of ways. For me, it’s My music. My music is my communication to the masses. It’s a crazy feeling, but when you listen to music it takes you somewhere you’ve never been before in your mind. Music makes you feel something. Whether it’s: happy, sad, or confident. My goal is to take you to the positive side of things. My gift of music will take you to a place where you can’t help but smile when you feel God’s presence through every note you hear in this song. It’s like looking outside and the sun is just shining on you. It makes you feel warm and puts a smile on you’re face. Music is My art of expressing My feelings to the world.”

Artist Bio Taija Alexus is a 19-year old Dallas native who loves the thought of inspiring others with her gift of singing. She is a youth worship leader at Covenant Church of McKinney. Creative Spotlight Collingwood Summer Landscape For me, art is a very personal way to express emotions and feelings in a way that we may not have words for. One of the most powerful components of my art is its ability to spark conversation, creating a multi-sensory experience that reaches to a world beyond visual stimulation. Capturing my art on porcelain plates is one example of how my work extends beyond the visual realm to become something functional; a tactile experience of art that establishes a continuity between eyes, mind, and appetite. I create using a wide variety of mediums, and I am moved by countless streams of inspiration. Whatever I dream up becomes a reality; a gift from me to you.

Artist Bio Jacqueline Poirier is a Toronto based artist whose reinvention of plate-art, playfully described by her as 'plart', has garnered the attention of thousands internationally. While she claims to have been born with paint on her hands, officially Jacqueline graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 2004 with a BFA in drawing and Painting. Since 2012 she has been bringing her art to life by painting on porcelain and ceramics. Currently she is the Resident Artist at The Ritz Carlton in Toronto where her hand painted charger plates are showcased throughout TOCA, the hotel's signature restaurant. Creative Spotlight Loud Mouth Orange I am an Artist/Designer with a strong background in painting and a glorious fashion-riff as the back beat! I’m inspired by music, movies, urban trends, international styles, rock 'n roll glamour, and the surf/skate scene. Art is 2 things coming together to form one. Art is life, it is creation. Without it, the world is soulless sludge. It’s magical and has a life enchanting effect!

Artist Bio Geena Tyler has experience in a spectrum of aesthetic principles, and continually explores unique combinations of shape, size, color and silhouette. I aim to infuse my designs with a whimsical edge and fresh, fun movement. A few of my latest projects include creating lookbook illustrations, portraits and packaging, logos, posters, social media graphics and more. I invite you to check out my online portfolio!
