shot Aleksanian, Kiev Ukraine I had never studied art in any special organization (university etc). The decision to become an artist was spontaneous. All I needed was to express myself, show my way of seeing this world and painting was the best way to do it. Painting for me is a method to discover reality. There is a great temptation to romanticize art, it is in everyday simplicity that the whole meaning of creativity and art is enclosed. In my works I try to understand the nature of everyday reality, to erase the boundary between art and life.

STEVENSON VALENTIN Quebec, Canada
I am a Canadian artist of Haitian descent. Against all odds, I started painting a few years ago. Being a former soldier, it was a strange idea to go from soldier to artist. My beginnings as a painter were essentially directed towards the abstract. The art of figurative portraits was a quick field of interest to me also. The expression of the body and the face are delicate details that fascinate me. For some time now, I have been trying to bring out this expression. You can say I'm an expressionist. I strive to experiment with various aspect or technique to my art. I can't really tell if I have a real style because of my passion for discovery. My approach is changing and diversified without real philosophy. In 2016 I began studying fine arts at Concordia University. I had my first opening in 2017 at the Centre d'Art de Repentigny which was a great success. Now I am striving to introduce contemporary art into my community as I am evolving. Color however is of great importance to me as it captures the eye and removes any amorphous side in a work. Now I devote myself to this quest more seriously.

Art is everywhere, and it takes a special mind to recognize it in the simplest form. Ashleigh Hue has demonstrated just that. Her creative flair permits her to design the interiors of luxurious homes and turn them into works of art. “She creates seductive, wondrous spaces that surpass trend to redefine traditional design for a new generation.” Nicknamed "A Stylist for the Homes", her unique designs have captured the attention of some high-end residential and commercial clients. Getting to know her is definitely an honor:

Love the nickname “A stylist for the homes” which means you dabble in fashion as well, talent always come in 2’s and 3’s, can we make this assumption truthful? This assumption is VERY true! I love fashion but most importantly I keep up with fashion trends so I can incorporate them into my home designs. From trending fabrics, colors and textures, they all help make a space feel current and inviting. It is not customary to equate interior design to art; however we realize the end result creates a wow effect on spectators once they’ve seen a room, how do you compare to an artist when it comes to interior design? Interior design is an art form and sometimes the artists
What sparked you to become an interior designer? As a little girl, I would constantly change and move things around the house to make the room look pretty. I loved pretty rooms, homes and décor growing up. At the age of 13, my teacher gave a writing assignment on career choices. I had no idea at the time that there was actually a career for what I enjoyed doing. I went home and told my mother about the writing assignment. She looked at me and said, “You’re an interior designer”. From that moment, I knew what I wanted to be. achieve a room that is innovative and unique or simply stylish. A room can contain elements that elevate their design to a level of style that makes us appreciate the art that goes into them. Just like a painting or significant work of sculpture, my room designs speak to you. Looking at your art, some rooms are more somber than others, what is your thought process when you choose colors for a room? If I had it my way, everything would be somber! Lol. I love black, dark spaces. But when it comes to choosing a color palette, It all depends on what the client wants and how they want the room to feel. Grays are usually my go-to. Gray is also considered the new neutral in the design world
Star Wars inspired design
Talk to us a little bit more about your new collection “Huesang” coming up, what does it entail? I’ve taken my time designing this décor line, 5 years to be exact. It’s very special to me. Huesang is the best example of “Where High fashion meets the home”. It’s an ultimate luxury home décor line that will include throw pillows, throw blankets, dining textiles and candles. You have a unique background in terms of ethnicity, would you integrate your Caribbean or Oriental background into your work? Thank you! I would integrate my background into my work in a more MODERN way, if I had to.
We admire those who bless others for being blessed themselves, how did you get involved with “Raise The Bar Foundation “and how can others be involved if they wish to be? I started “Raise The Bar Foundation” with my significant other. He’s a retired athlete who loves helping underprivileged youths with development skills. So we started this organization 3 years ago and it’s been so rewarding to help make a difference in a child’s life. We are always looking for volunteers with a huge heart. Will Day Taking the Field with Peyton Manning, Will Day Finds Clarity in the Chaos
L
Looking at a painting by Will Day, beholding broad strokes and bold colors, one can observe his energy level leaping from the canvas. Even over the phone (a country away), you sense his enthusiasm for spreading not only his work, but also his story. And it’s a story worth a listen, a laugh and a lesson. Finding clarity in the chaos. Turning negative into positive. Transcending time. From shape and structure to rhyme and reason, the painter is precise with his brush and particular with his titles. “There is no perfect line or landscape, abstraction is about mood and movement,” shares Will. Although Will showed an early interest in art, it wasn’t until his trip to Tunisia and his selfdescribed “aha moment” that his passion for expanding personal discovery and exploring art materialized. At this point in our conversation, we thanked Oprah for turning the sound into a word. Similar to our back and forth, it rolls of the tongue. At 24 years old, Will joined the Peace Corps and spent two years living in the Sahara Desert. Ready to be a positive influence in the world, he chose to push his limits and gain a new perspective. While navigating an “uncomfortable” situation and allowing his hair to grow, Will learned to accept and appreciate a different religion, language and history. His main channel of communication: art. From writing letters to taking photos and making murals (with local resources), the artist organically tapped into his creativity and recognized the power of the human spirit.

Featured Stories | Will Day Following his return, before becoming a professional abstract painter, Will earned a Masters Degree in Architecture at PRATT Institute and worked as a sales professional on Wall Street. Believing that studying and/or training architecture serves as the best foundation for any type of creative person, Will conveys the fundamentals of the field through his creative process and artistic style. Beyond letting go, practicing being present and drawing on his emotional state, Will says that there is no real formula to his artistry. Whatever the size of the canvas (the bigger, the better), he takes a mental snapshot from the top and tackles its pure and plain surface. Guided by a sense of physicality and a symbol of diversity, Will reacts to the canvas through touch: he sits on it, steps on it, walks on it and works on eight or ten at a time. Reflecting on his environment, he creates a story in the moment and achieves continuity through emotional release. Every day, Will shows up, channels his creativity and ignites curiosity in the world. Although art collectors and corporations commission the painter on a regular basis, his partnership with the Denver Broncos of the National Football League serves as a highlight of his career. Looking for a way to pay tribute to a future hall-of-famer, the Broncos approached Will to create an iconic piece to celebrate Peyton Manning’s time with the team. From standing on the field to splashing paint in the locker room, the two reflected on his professional life and connected over the parallels of painting and playing. Back to back, the individuals faced high expectations and changing boundaries. With onlookers cheering, Peyton completed the initial mark on the canvas and Will transformed into a figurative painter. Looking ahead, the artist aimed to represent the motion, movement and energy of their conversation.
36 | CREATIV | Nov - Dec 2018 | www.creativmag.com
SF Moment Leaders in their own respect, Peyton and Will share an appreciation for the process. Responsible for executing a play, the first stepped to the line in control of the action and ready to show physical strength. Responsible for playing with shapes, colors and textures and executing a strong composition, the second steps to the canvas counting on a different type of athleticism to grow and express. Offering football fans the chance to step into Peyton’s world and join him on the line, the pair settled on capturing the moment: Omaha; the play call synonymous with the Broncos. Blending the sights and sounds of the stadium, the opposition and the clock, the blank canvas served as the start of a new season. However, between a challenging color combination (with four jerseys on the go), an on-hand camera crew and an immense amount of self-pressure to be perfect, the struggle was real.
Visual artist Will Day and NFL Legend Peyton Manning share an appreciation for the process
Three months (and a couple of highs and lows) later, Will projected a visual of the superstar in action on the canvas and experienced a breakthrough. Discovering the shape of the helmet and the placement of the number 18, everything fell into place. Referencing the final product, Will explains that similar to life, only a handful of plays make up a game and that we all have the ability to make a choice that will determine our next opportunity. “I am most gratified when I can inspire someone to look at art in a new way – as a form of self-expression, which sparks a wonderful sense of joy and peace in the
viewer,” he shares. Regardless of the score, once the clock winds down and we allow the beauty to come through, we all win. Up next for the artist: the exhibition “Conversations in Abstraction” at Black Lab Sports Art Gallery in Boulder, Colorado. Adding another layer to the story, Will is teaming up with a national poet to present his Wonder series. Expanding the viewer experience, the duo will use multiple senses: sight, sound and touch to engage with its audience.

veryone likes to hear the story of an artist who became the creator we see right in front of our eyes. All artists have been on an ongoing journey to discover who they are , a discovery that leads to create relatable pieces for the world to enjoy.
"If I can inspire someone to reach for the stars that’s fine with me plus that means I've done my job as a creator.
No matter how big or small most creatives always start with humble beginnings. We want to offer a platform to share these stories and help influence our communities to create even more. I was delighted to connect with Lj Ugarte, Founder and CEO of Fire Creek Entertainment, about his new venture into creating music while still producing short films:
"I've always been a musician entertaining has always been my passion wither it be musical, directing, producing films or acting.
C: Tell us a little bit about what makes you , you? Lj Ugarte: I was born in 1981 in Brooklyn, New York. I was raised by both my parents who are from Puerto Rico. I was captivated by the arts from the early age of 10 after seeing a production of The Wizard of Oz live from Radio City Music Hall. I never looked back since. C: I noticed that one of your professions is film production. What made you make the transition to music? Lj: I've always been a musician entertaining has always been my passion wither it be musical, directing, producing films or acting. C: What’s the inspiration behind creating the song? Lj: I express myself freely through my songs I have no filter or no worries during the songwriting process, so it comes from within. When writing the single Feeling the Music, the flow came so naturally at the time all I was thinking about was fun, excitement freedom of expression a carefree happy tune that would make everyone around forget their trouble for a min or two www.creativmag.com | Nov - Dec 2018 | CREATIV | 43

C: How do you feel music relates to you as a creative? Lj: I'm easily inspired by music, to me it is more liberating then acting because writing music comes from the heart. I gain inspiration from anything like stepping outside my door or even breathing fresh air. Acting can be very limiting especially when you’re working on someone else’s vision so creating music is more natural. Creating, building and watching it grow all comes from the music which I transition into film producing. C: Here at Creativ we are all about community. How do you feel you’re able to influence your community with your creations? Lj: I know I'm not the world’s greatest singer or the world’s greatest entertainer but if my inspiring words of courage, peace, love and humanity captivate my community. If I can inspire someone to reach for the stars that’s fine with me plus that means I've done my job as a creator. The reason why I chose this business was to contribute through my art the very best way that I knew how and hopefully my 44 | CREATIV | Nov - Dec 2018 | www.creativmag.com
community will accept my craft as well as myself. C: What words of inspiration do you have for those who would like to follow into your footsteps? Lj: Don't waste your time looking for people who do not take the time to look for you. At the end of the day you are your own biggest fan so follow your heart, remain humble and the rest will fall into place. C: Inform us on what we can expect next from Lj Ugarte. Lj: I'm currently working on multiple film productions up until the end of 2019. The release of the comedy short film which was selected into the Los Angeles Film Festival as well as the Horror feature film Jeff Carroll's The Death Pledge. I'm also finishing up my autobiography between book writing, recording new up-tempo music and plans to expand my production company Firecreek Entertainment LLC is in full effect.

OR READ ON.... V. McCoy: Thank you for joining Creative Spotlight. We're here with artist DYFL. Thank you so much for joining us at Creativ today. DYFL: Thanks for having me. I appreciate it. VM: Yes. I'm glad to have you here. So, you are a up and coming rapper in the South Florida area. So, tell us who's DYFL?
DYFL: But at the end of the day I still abbreviated it and so I tell people that it stands for Do You For Life, which basically means be yourself. Do what you love, you know what I'm saying? By any means necessary, and I live by that every day. So, I want people to live by that also. VM: That’s dope. So, we all know that music is an outlet also seen as a platform. DYFL: Right.
DYFL: DYFL is still a kid coming up from Overtown, the rough streets in Overtown. Focused on attending to school, I mean just always been into his books. Big in to sports as well becoming a creator. That’s DYFL. I'm still a child at heart and that’s who I’ll be forever. That childlike spirit is what drives my passion, my intellect and my love for music. VM: Nice. So, could you let us know what DYFL stands for? What does it mean? DYFL: Originally, I was working with Cool and Dre when I was a kid. I was about 14, 15 started working with Cool and Dre and I had the name Young Future. My real name is Dimitris Lumpkin, so I abbreviate it Dimitris Young Future Lumpkin after future came out, you know what I'm saying? So, I was forced to change my name. VM:
VM: So, why did you choose music as an outlet to have your voice heard? DYFL: I don't think I chose music. I think music chose me. When I was eight, I used to write in journals. My teacher challenged us to make a rhyme one day. So, we did it. She glorified mine as like the best one out of all the kids and stuff like that. My teacher doing that sparked something in me. Like, I loved that. I loved that feeling of being good at something. So, every journal, every topic that she gave, she threw at us, I was forced to like, well, my mind challenged me to make the topic rhyme. I wanted to see I would be able to have everything rhyme within the topic. I wanted to see how creative I could get with it. As time went on I seen young artists like Lil Bow-Wow and other kids rapping, and it just made me want to do it. So that's pretty much how it chose me.
Right. Got it.

Cover Story | DYFL VM: When you were explaining to us who you are as an artist, and you were saying that you're a kid at heart. You're still someone, you're just a person who’s a broad imagination. So, what message do you want people to receive from your music?
Give it your 110% and go crazy when you get in. there.
DYFL: I keep my music as real as possible. I don't fabricate it. I don't only talk about the money, the cars, and clothes. Like I will throw it in there every now and then, but I don't make that the overall message of my music. My overall message of my music is just be true to yourself and know who you are and just live your life to the fullest, 'cause you only get a shot at this one time. So, I always try to do things the way I always pictured doing it. Things I imagined. Things I've dreamed of since I was little. I always wanted to bring that to the light. So, when I see somebody going through something, I put that in my music. When I'm going through something, I put that in my music. I want my music to be as realistic as possible. VM: Yes, that allows you to connect. Makes it more relatable. DYFL: Right, exactly, I want to relate to people. I want to touch people. VM: We all know as artist, there was a time in a creatives life when we realize that we were ready to make our dream into a reality. So, when did you realize you wanted to make your dreams a reality? DYFL: At about, I think it was the first time I got into the studio. When I started recording and I heard myself on a record for the first time with a hook and some verses and stuff and basically fell in love. Like, I couldn't stop listening to it. I had to show everybody. I had to let everybody hear it. I had to do this. I had to do that. So, once I had that experience, I knew I could do it, if that makes any sense? VM: Yes, of course. Makes complete sense. So, you stated that you are from Overtown, the historic neighborhood of Overtown here in Miami. DYFL: Yes, Overtown. I Went to school there. Grew up there. I had a house. My mother's house was in Little Haiti, but I spent like all my time in Overtown. I was going between both neighborhoods, but I spent majority of my time in Overtown. Overtown made me who I am today. I had my first fight Overtown. I lost my virginity Overtown. Like, everything I experienced for the first time happened in Overtown.

VM: It’s always nice to have a place you can call home. Since we are talking community, as a black creative, how do you feel you're able to influence our community? DYFL: Because I've seen it. I've been through it. Kids look up to us. We are like superheroes to the kids. We don't have capes and we don't have super powers, but we've made it out. You know what I'm saying? Like, we are the ones that made it out. So, the kids look up to us and the fact that I came from what they came from and I know exactly what they've been through even though I'm still on my journey, I'm still not out yet, but I'm creating my own path to get out of there. In the end, It's going to inspire a lot of them because they're going to be like, "Yo, he did it. He was in the same position I was in, and he did it." You know what I'm saying? So, I plan on inspiring them by just showing them that you guys have the ability to do the same thing I could do. You know what I'm saying? You could do music. You could play sports. You could do ... it don't even have to be that. Whatever you love, if you put 110% into what you love, you can make it happen. Don't worry about what nobody say, like people going to close the door on your face hundred times. Still don't worry about what anybody has to say or how they feel. Don't let them put their failures on you. Just cause they couldn't do it, don't mean you can't do it. VM: Exactly. Speaking truth. DYFL: Give it your 110% and go crazy when you get in there. VM: Exactly. I think this is like the best influence and inspiration for young kids coming up today. Recently the BET Hip Hop Awards was in Miami for the second year I want to say? DYFL:
Second year, yeah.
VM: Which was a really good look for not only Miami artists, but other artists in South Florida as well. So, tell us about your experience there. How was it? DYFL: My experience was dope, man. I was touched, because it's been a long time since we saw artists from here. Like, a bunch of artists from here at the awards. Like, you had City Girl, you had Caresha from City Girls, she was giving away an award. Then you had Ball Greezy performing with Lil Duval. Then you had Zoe Dollars who was nominated.

These are all people I've been around. So, that was just inspiring to see Miami like on the map, 'cause we haven't been on the map in a long time and that's the main thing I took from that. We only have like three or four artists from the city and the kid that Khaled just signed. The guy who sings "leave me alone", that song is so hard. VM: Oh, yeah. It's nice to know that an award show will come into a city and give recognition to those artists that are here working and grinding. DYFL: Right, but even if the BET Hip Hop Awards wasn't here, those artists are still on.
why I said that line in there, 'cause that was originally for that, but then I heard the beat. One of these producers Progression. Oh man, shout out to Progression. He's so dope. We're working on so much stuff together. He sent me that beat and I heard it and I just fell in love and then those words from that song fit that perfectly. So, I'm like, I'm not gonna waste it on freestyle for Instagram. I'm gonna make this actually a record. And so, when I went for the second verse, I went even crazier on the second verse. So, that's how that came about. VM: Nice. I love hearing how singles come to be. It’s always a great story. So, to wrap this up, what words of inspiration do you have for those who would like to follow in your footsteps?
VM: Always. DYFL: So, that was super dope, 'cause we haven't had a bunch of artists from the city being present for a long time. Especially more than one at the same time. It's always been one. It's always been Ross or Trick Daddy and Trina or just Luke. You know what I'm saying? VM: Yeah, you're right. That's true. Since we are the topic of artistry, let's talk more about your music. Your newest single if I'm correct, is titled “Amen, Amen”. DYFL: Yes. That's my baby. VM: What was the inspiration behind the single? DYFL: That song is pretty much about a balance. It's about wanting the material things and then wanting the spirituality at the same time, 'cause it's weird 'cause it feels like you can't have both at the same time. Like, it feels like you can't have money and be happy. You know that money don't buy you happiness. VM: Right. DYFL: But I feel like if you have the right balance of education. You can have the right balance of materialism and you have the right balance of spirituality, then you'll be fine. Too much of one thing is not good enough for you, but if you have a balance of everything, you'll be good. And I think that's what the main thing for that was. And it's about me battling what I want, you know what I'm saying and not trying to get something 'cause everybody else got it. You know what I'm saying? It's like what I truly want. What I genuinely want and when I get it, I don't care what nobody say. I got it, I'm gonna be happy with it, and I'm gonna do whatever I want. VM: Was there like a particular moment in your life that you were going through something that pushed you to write that? DYFL: No, it just naturally came. It's funny. That song wasn't even meant ... the first version wasn't even meant for that. Last year, I was doing like freestyles every week. Like, I was really dropping freestyles. They were going viral on the gram like every week. And then there's a line where I say, "In New York I milly rock, loading up the glock, f the cops." That was for that Playboi Carti record that ... VM: I know what you're talking about, but I can’t remember the name right now. DYFL:
"In New York I milly rock, hide it in my sock." That's
DYFL: My advice would be to not follow my footsteps. It would be to do what you love. Do what you feel. Stop thinking with your mind and think with your heart. Think with your soul. That would be my advice to everybody. VM: That’s amazing advice. Let us know what's coming up for DYFL? What can we see next? DYFL: I have a dubby freestyle coming out. Well, I already released it, but I have the video coming out and it's so crazy. I just got it today. When this interview come out, it will probably come out already. I don't know when exactly. Man, the video's crazy and I'm pretty much speaking how I feel like where I see myself in this game right now and I'm the man they might respect. 'Cause I feel like I've been the underdog for too long, and I'm way too talented to be overshadowed like that. So, I feel like it's time for them to get me what I deserve. VM: Well, alright now. DYFL: So, I got that coming. I'm working on a couple more projects. And I'm gonna just keep content coming. Like, I really like what I do. I always get new ideas every single day, so I'm just keeping the content coming and I'm keeping it as real as possible. I'm keeping it as dope and as true as possible. VM: So, the streaming platforms I seen that you're available on are Spotify, Apple Media, Tidal, etc. DYFL: Everywhere. Anywhere you can get music. Yeah. Any way you can stream it. Any way you can buy it. Any way you can download it. It's there. VM: Also, your performances and music videos are located on YouTube. DYFL: On YouTube, yeah. My YouTube page, king DYFL. You gotta make sure you all check me out. Make sure to subscribe. Subscribe. Subscribe. I can't stress that enough. VM: DYFL, thank you so much for joining us here at Creative. We really appreciate it. It was a such a pleasure to have you. So, thank you so much. DYFL: Oh, no problem. Thank you for having me. I'm honored

THE DIFFERENT PHASES OF ME
O
By Ruth Louissaint
On November 1st, 2018, Fashion designer, Ruth Louissaint showcased her newest collection entitled “The Different Phases of Me Fashion Show”. This event was an introduction of her brand and talent to the world. Gradually she introduced garments considered pret-a-porter ascending to elegant gowns inspired by Asian and European culture. Ruth’s fashion career began at the young age of 12 years old. Ruth has been creating custom pieces for various politicians, artists, models and local Miami residents throughout south Florida for many years. RL Design Studio is where Ruth designs and creates original looks for all her clients; such as wedding gowns, prom gowns, fashion accessories, men and
children clothing. In addition, she creates samples and patterns for other designers. The studio locates in the city of Miramar. Being a philanthropist, her show benefited The God is Bigger Than Cancer Foundation, Inc. a non-profit organization founded by Carolyne Lewis a cancer survivor. Certainly the audience was left in awe as her talent shone through each piece that paraded down the stairs. And when asked how she felt after the show her answer was simple and concise. She felt that only one word could describe that feeling: “fulfilled”. We expect to see more of Ruth on future runways so that she can show the rest of the world what she is capable of .

Filipina Milliner and Fashion Designer Tracy Dizon brings Philippine Pop Culture as closing finale of Fashion Week Brooklyn S/S 2019
A
After the success of her Miss Hanoi Collection in Fashion Week Brooklyn last year, Filipina street wear and milliner Tracy Dizon returns for the second time, loudly and proudly putting her Pinoy heritage and Philippine pop culture—front and center—as the closing finale of Fashion Week Brooklyn Spring/Summer 2019, which culminated recently at Brooklyn Borough Hall in New York City. Pinoy Pop Life (The Nostalgia of Growing Up as a Filipino) does not simply play an ode to nostalgia of a childhood in the Philippines, but rather a culmination of Dizon’s long desire to showcase her heritage and her love for it to the world. It is an autobiographical exert of Dizon’s life growing up in the capital of the Philippines. The collection includes twelve looks, each taking inspiration from a variety of Philippine cultural references. From ‘dirty’ ice cream to the signboard of the quintessential Philippine mass transport vehicle— the jeepney, and the papier-mâché Taka Horse, the designs integrate modern designs and vibrant colors to create a look that each tell a different story. The pieces are made from various Philippine traditional fabrics such as Ifugao textiles, Cordillera fabrics, Yakan, and Abel Iloco, each designed in contemporary fashion, to create an aesthetic fit for a modern “Maria Clara”. “I am making this collection with a big heart of sharing my beautiful culture in the form of fashion. I want to share the undeniably show-stopping beauty of the Philippines. This time around, I want to present both the nostalgic essence of growing up in the Philippines and at the same time moving forward towards promoting the unique hodgepodge of Filipino Pop Culture that has yet to be discovered,” Dizon said. One of her key pieces is a doll dress made out of traditional Ifugao printed textiles. The collared doll dress has butterfly sleeves that can be worn either for formal or casual occasions. Another of her head-turners is a hat inspired by the Philippine rice cake, called sapin-sapin, where Dizon experiments with shape and colors that are very Filipino and festive. “More often than not, Filipiniana Clothing would often feel too traditional and old that the younger generation may feel disjointed with the culture. I would like to exhibit a fresh and creative twist to the Filipiniana Clothing that hopefully, someday, wearing Filipiniana would not be just limited to formal occasions and national holidays, but even on a regular day.”
“I take pride of this collection very much. That this design is something my fellow kababayan would be so proud of—it’s all about 100% PINOY PRIDE and it is relatable to many Filipinos all over the world,” Dizon added. Walking for her runway are mix of New York Runway Models: Miss New York US Nation 2018 Jackie Paras opens the show, as joined by other world-class beauties, Mutya ng Pilipinas 2015 1st Runner-up Julee Bourgoin and Miss World Elite 2018 Jeannette Josue, who closed the show. In attendance were noted guests such as Deputy Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General New York Hon. Kerwin Orville C. Tate; seasoned designer and founder of Heatherette, Club Kid Richie Rich; and the power couple behind TurboGoth, Pinoy artists Sarah Gaugler and Paolo Peralta. The mother and son duo have always been inseparable, especially after Travis Atreyu was discovered to have a rare brain tumor, Extraventricular Neurocytoma. The two are real-life survivors and a true inspirational story of that touched the hearts of the tough New Yorker audience and slayed the runway with Tracy Dizon’s bubbly life and colorful collection. “I cannot believe that I was given another chance to do this with FWBK. It is a wildest dream come true to not only have my son who has been there all throughout this journey to watch my show but to actually take a bow with my son with my favorite Pink Lillies and surrounded by my New York fashion dolls,” the designer exclaims. “That insurmountable feeling of pride making my country proud lingers on this whole time. All I keep thinking about is I want to make you all proud and celebrate our heritage… I want to give everyone the most striking FWBK Closing Finale Runway Show,” she adds. “But this is not only about Filipino Pride but the actual definition of teamwork, that even different races and different kinds of people from all over the world would feel proud and happy to celebrate with you, your message, your story. New York had embraced me even beyond my wildest imagination and it keeps getting better even by the New York Minute!”

Do you ever find yourself staring at an impossibly-long to-do list, fretting over how to get through each task before the next sunrise? And maybe you’ve lost track of the number of times you’ve lamented with that all-too-common phrase: “there just isn’t enough time in the day.” There is a huge disparity in resources around the world; some individuals have much more money and possessions than others, while some are privileged to have more influence, connections or special clearances. The one commodity we all have an equal amount of is TIME. This precious item is often undervalued, but using it wisely can make even an impoverished person truly rich.

Does Destiny Say You’re Meant to be Devoted or Are You Just a Dupe in the Dating World?

You find yourself gazing at your watch periodically, and it’s not to see if you can tell time. You’re intensely looking at your wrist because you’ve been single for far too long and you’re wondering if your dreams of being with a special someone, are even meant to be. So, the question you’ve been dreading arises: Am I meant to be single forever? and you begin to reevaluate your entire existence in the dating pool. I get it, this question is very difficult to utter and even harder to answer truthfully. For religious folks, praying about this dilemma provides them the answer; and for those not too hung up on a higher being in the decision making, fate is the truth-teller when it’s all said and done. My take on this sensitive subject is quite simple for those in search of a commitment with no hope—give every eligible man/woman you encounter a fair chance. This is the part where you’re thinking, Yeah right?! I’m not giving that pervert at my job a chance! (and I wouldn’t either!) The operative word in all of what I’m saying is, eligible. Often times, we tend to overlook the people life throws at us, even when they fit the bill we’ve mentally created. Let’s face it. You’ve been in search for someone intelligent, kind, respectful and open to a being in a relationship. However, you’ve been guilty of overlooking men/women with great qualities because of superficial reasons, or worse, on the whim reasons that you make up as you go along. Here’s the truth. I believe everyone is meant to be devoted to someone. For

some, that could be marriage and for others, that could be having a committed partner who makes for an excellent companion, without a ring involved. Having someone in your corner that cherishes your being, other than a friend, is a great person to have. With all of the people that exist on this Earth, there’s no way destiny would have you waving the white flag on the way to your grave. In order to know for sure if you’ll ever meet that special someone, be open. That means being open-minded, open-hearted and the open sesame to finding your true match. Again, stop for a minute to listen to the people who seek a genuine interest in you. Never, ever settle but rather, investigate what things make you happy in a partner and slowly determine if you could be overlooking Mr./Mrs. Right. With this mindset, destiny would have no choice but to open her (or his) arms and allow you to embrace the love and security that you’ve been longing for. Trust me, your special someone is waiting for your acknowledgment, you just have to do your part.
