Editor's Letter The EXTRAORDINARY TALENT issue

I

am stunned!!! Wow, wow, wow, have you seen what kind of talent we featured this month?! So much so that we have extended this issue to a 100 pages instead of our normal 96. There is no way I was going to leave all this talent behind. I have to say that I am amazed at the strength and courage of Nyeta Allen, a stylist from New York who never stops to create and to follow her dream despite her fighting with Cancer. I have always been an admirer of people who choose to LIVE their best life despite their shortcomings. We’ve featured Cancer survivors in the past and we are not planning to stop anytime soon. Her spread is comprised of 3 photographers who are stars within their rights, Each of these photographers are showing the fashion industry how pictures are supposed to be delivered and we couldn’t wait to showcased them to you. Moreover, Richard Petit comes back with a new Winter collection that he plans to showcase in the next fashion week in New York and the gowns that he has created will surely leave you in awe. We also feature a new designer by the name of Aissata Ibrahima from Ivory Coast, London. She really gives meaning to what passion is supposed to look like. I am in awe on how much undiscovered talent there is in this world and I have to tell you that I am proud that CREATIV is able to shed light on those who deserve it most. We never cease to thank our contributors and writers who make these issues possible. Our dear readers, Ladies and gentlemen, artists of all ages, I present to you our 26th issue. Enjoy !!!

The art of Photography is very meticulous. The artist captured the dept of the subject. Giving him the illusion that you can actually touch him. With the lighting just perfectly defining the right curves and angles of the face, with the 45 degree triangle under the left eye. The heighten shadows of the picture gives that mysterious ambiance where the subject is able to enhance that fierce look and project feelings of intrigue through the lens.

www.creativmag.com | May - Jun 2018 | CREATIV | 21

Hypnosis asanArt? Whoknew?! Discovering the exploits of the talented Asad Mecci hat we have witnessed is beyond our comprehension. Human beings never cease to amaze me. Have you ever asked yourself how on earth is one able to control another's mind? It's a mystery! We had the privilege of recently meeting Asad Mecci, a renown hypnotist from Canada, who recently showcased at the Faena Theater in Miami Beach.

W

Asad Mecci’s jaw dropping performances have captivated audiences worldwide!

You might have see Asad on Entertainment Tonight, MTV, Maxim Online, Talk Television, Much Music, or listened as he hypnotized people live on radio stations like CFRB 1010! Though he tours for pure entertainment, Mecci practices Hypnosis in the goal of helping his clients in the area of goal-attainment, smokingcessation and weight-loss. During his shows the participants go into a trance where their minds are controlled solely by his voice. They are prompted to do things that perhaps they would have never demonstrated had they've been normal, for example, arguing in Chinese, ordering fast food at a restaurant and even dancing on queue. We've had the privilege of getting to know Asad more intimately the following will amaze you on how he perfects his craft. 22 | CREATIV | May - Jun 2018 | www.creativmag.com

ASAD MECCI EXPERT HYPNOTIST PERFORMED AT THE FAENA IN MIAMI BEACH FLORIDA

www.creativmag.com | May - Jun 2018 | CREATIV | 23

Featured Stories| Asad Mecci

No one grows up to say “I want to be an Hypnotist” (to my knowledge that is) How did you fall into this field? I studied the martial arts for a long time. Meditation, visualization and hypnosis are all very much interrelated. As well, I studied Psychology and Neuro-linguistic Programming and that sparked my interest in Hypnosis. Looks like you have been doing this for quite some time can you remember the very first time you’ve ever hypnotized someone and what was the outcome? Yes, when I was in university I hypnotized my cleaning lady who wanted to stop smoking. While under hypnosis I told her to image herself in a wonderful place…she said she was trout fishing with her grand father in the former Yugoslavia. I gave her the post-hypnotic suggestion she would feel that way every time she refused a cigarette. She stopped after one session. She was ecstatic! Have you ever encountered anyone who have ever resisted? Yes, I was hired to help the host of the chatroom to loose weight. At first, he was resistant to the suggestions, then I explained to him he had to do the homework to be successful (i.e. selfhypnosis). After he started doing the selfhypnosis exercises and with my guidance he lost approx. 40 pounds in two months. It was all documented Live on the chatroom and it was broadcasted coast to coast across Canada. Have you been able to hypnotize just anyone? Pretty much, people with IQ’s less then 60 are tough because they have limited comprehension and attention.

Asad demonstrating the power of the mind by directing the audience to experience one of his tricks

How is it working with one of the “Who’s line is it Anyway” legends Colin Morchrie? Amazing! He is absolutely hilarious. Each night I have a front row seat to watch the most gifted improviser work his magic on stage. I’m actually excited to go to work, as every night is a different adventure with Collin Mochrie.

You’ve performed worldwide in front of millions of people, is there a city that you haven’t performed in that you would like to visit? I would love to perform in Vegas. Vegas is the mecca of entertainment. Not to mention, it’s restaurants and nightlife are second to none! Coming to perform in Florida is that your first time? And also what would you like your audience to leave with? This is my second time performing at the world class Faena Hotel in Miami Beach. The show room is spectacular and the clientele are A-listers and Captains of industry. I would like my audience to understand that hypnosis is an extremely powerful tool that can help them to unlock and achieve their dreams.

Asad is a natural comedian with a healing touch. We definitely had to catch up with him before his show

What is the one thing that your fans don’t know about you that perhaps you would like to share with them? I’ve always been a bit of a dreamer. I love to just sit back and dream up different scenarios. I like to then fully immerse myself in those dreams. I’m a fan of the thought experiments Einstein would run. My guess is that Einstein would access a relaxed hypnotic state when trying to imagine himself chasing a beam of light (By the way, these experiments paved the way to the theory of special relativity). Do you plan on keeping your clinic amidst all this fame? Yes, I enjoy helping people! Working with people to achieve peak performance or loose weight is very gratifying.

We always like to leave our readers with some inspiration. If there is one advice that you would like to give to someone that looks up to you what would it be? My mentor once told me “Fortune favors the bold”. So if you want something, go after it and don't let anyone or anything stop you! Indeed it was a pleasure to cover this amazing event needless to say that experiencing new things is definitely a must on my bucket list. We wish Asad success and prosperity and may he continue to impact lives in a positive way! www.creativmag.com | May - Jun 2018 | CREATIV | 25

W So it’s May 2018 and I am back fighting another battle with cancer...

Women go through so much, black women even more, we go through life fighting off stigmas, stereotypes and Life and general, however some of us have to fight off deadly diseases while still going through life. But what do you do when you are an artist and battling cancer? Let’s go over some facts for a minute: - In 2018, an estimated 1,735,350 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States and 609,640 people will die from the disease. - The number of new cases of cancer (cancer incidence) is 439.2 per 100,000 men and women per year (based on 2011– 2015 cases). - The number of cancer deaths (cancer mortality) is 163.5 per 100,000 men and women per year (based on 2011–2015 deaths). There is a chance that each one of you reading this article know of someone that has, had or is currently diagnosed with Cancer. Not too long ago our 3rd and 7th issue were dedicated to a Cancer survivors

Arlene Hagley and Barbara Ratliff, respectively. Unfortunately Barbara did not survive for long and went to see the Lord a little too early. Today is no different we venerate Nyeta Allen, talented, extraordinary and dedicated artist. Though we have had the pleasure of featuring her in our 22nd issue, today we want to make sure that we lift her up for the world to see. Not only is she an amazing artist but she is battling cancer with all of her might. This issue is actually dedicated to her. We had taken the liberty of featuring 3 different photoshoots, by 3 EXTRAORDINARY photographers that she has worked with, showcasing her talent and theirs through the following pages. We would like for you to take your time and savor each and every work of art as they are unique and mesmerizing in their own right. THIS IS BLACK EXCELLENCE! THIS IS BLACK GIRL MAGIC!!!!

I go by the name Happy ,Unicorn, Super Woman and a few others that I answer to but my name is Nyeta . So it’s May 2018 and I am back fighting another battle with Cancer. Yup it’s back and it came with a vengeance. The only thing that it didn’t realize was that I’m a beast and I will not go down that easily. I laugh in its face on a regular basis. This time my breast cancer came back and it’s in every bone of my body and the pain is something I've never imagined feeling . Each and every day and night I’m on my knees praying for calm and peace and to be pain free. The doctors instructed me to sit, relax and spend the rest of my days with family and friends doing nothing. They said this to a Warrior, a Go Getter . I couldn’t believe what my ears were hearing and I haven’t listened to a word they’ve said so far. I’m doing holistic healing treatment, a healthy lifestyle and I still create! Yup I’m still creating. Pain in my body hands back hips everywhere and still being the best that I can be. I’m slower but that’s it. I don’t feel that my work here is done so I’m going to keep pushing and striving until the Most High says to come on home . Peace and light -Nyeta allen www.creativmag.com | May - Jun 2018 | CREATIV | 41

MATTHEW MUSE creator of I AM MUSE PHOTOGRAPHY, started in 2009 and didn’t take it seriously until October of 2011. He was asked to do work for the r&b artist Kindred The Family Soul. Within a month he shot a music video that ran on VH1 and began touring with the group. That vehicle gave him the opportunity to capture legends such as Maya Angelou, Common, Kenny Gamble just to name a few.

What gave him life as a young photographer was searching for inspiration and coming across celebrity photographer Matthew Jordan Smith. Seeing beauty in his idol's work, he was able to to easily identify with his skills. This discovery permitted him to maneuver in his own way. He plans to increase his vision as a transformative photographer that specializes in healing through the lens.

e have been living in the “Era of Social Media” for a few years now. Boy, look how much of the world has changed since it has become a part of our everyday lives. Social media has become a great asset to entrepreneurs and creatives trying to get their business or craft out to the mainstream. We can’t deny that money can definitely be made by simply going viral. It became the new wave when trying to reach the masses.

W IS Social Media Setting New Social Norms?

Let’s think about how much we have actually allowed social media in our lives. Gathering research for this article, I came across some statistics on pewinternet. org. The article Social Media Use stated that in 2018, 71% of young Americans use Instagram and 45% use Twitter. Even with this being a high percentage, other companies like Facebook and Youtube dominate the landscape, by FB having 73% and YT having 68%. That's a lot of bandwith! Not including all the other users of social networking platforms like WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. It's safe to say social media has not only added to our lives but is making the permanent stay. In the beginning, Social media was a great concept to meet new people and stay connected with both long distant family members or friends. I remember joining Facebook in 2009 as a college freshman to keep up with high school classmates and new college friends. Since then the narrative for social media has changed indefinitely. Most tend to promote businesses, create platforms and post personal experiences via social media in today's time. Today it's become a nuisance and enjoyment all in one.

Writer's Corner | Hot Topic Social norms are changing due to the high active engagement with social networking platforms. Honestly, it really has gotten out of control if you ask me. It used to be a golden rule to keep personal matters private but it seems that has changed. Everyone enjoys expressing their private matters or issues on the net! You now see ample amounts of pictures with couples in bed, naked pictures posted freely these days, and the drama that gets transmitted to the community in three seconds. The word privacy no longer exists but yet it's become the social norm to post private interactions for the world to critique. Sharing is great but can we filter what we share?, should all of our business be everyone's business? Let me speak quickly about having the phone out during social interactions. Simply this, PUT IT AWAY! In my opinion, we should not be concerned about what John Man is doing while you're at dinner with family and friends. This has become an ultimate pet peeve of mine. So many times I have noticed dinner parties with each and every person face down on their phone, the entire dinner Y'all?! Come on! Having a phone out during a dinner or meeting not only takes away from the personal interaction but is just straight out rude. Yet, it seems again that it has become the social norm to do so.

mostly presented with 60 seconds videos and pictures. We should probably trade in the time we spend scrolling to flipping pages. Also, notice how it has changed the media? Specifically with publications and news outlets. I mean let's face it, most people don't even watch broadcasted news these days. You can just twiddle your thumbs right on over to Twitter or Snapchat to see what's going on in the world. I mean how is it okay for social media to be your only source of news? Yet, it's the norm these days. Social media has truly taken over our lives and we have yet to recognize the takeover. Everything around us comes with pros and cons. It’s imperative that we take our time to weigh the consequences and see how it's currently affecting and shaping our lives. If you feel that you're constant engagement in social media affects your mental or physical health let's pull the plug. If you notice you're spending more time watching people have fun then actually having fun let's pull the plug. If you post personal private matters only to gain attention let's pull the plug.

Fam, we need to recognize and understand that social media can be damaging just as it is rewarding. Let's be genuine to each other, allow moments to be created with loved ones but remembering to share with I have a friend who yells every time he sees caution. Let's learn to unplug and individuals face down on the phone while decompress. Say it again, driving. He tries to grasp the concept of unplug and decompress. what is exactly on the phone that's so important for them to risk their life on the highways of hell. I can't help but laugh every time he complains because this is the truth of our society. Yet once again, it's the new social norm. Can I mention that since social media has arrived, some people don't even read as much anymore? It has been observed that the attention span of the younger generation has lowered since we are

"Fly Like a Butterfly"

METAMORPHOSIS : A change in the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one Transition is arguably one of the most intriguing phases in life. A phenomenal expression of this in nature is the metamorphosis of a butterfly. What was once a chubby little caterpillar with clumsy movements transforms into a breathtakingly beautiful specimen that is the pinnacle of grace. What the butterfly does instinctively, however, is a pain point for most people. We are creatures of habit after all, and many either run from change or avoid it with outright resistance. But as the famed Greek philosopher Heraclitus indicated “change is the only constant in life.” So what makes transition so difficult? Often it is the perspective of the person that stands on the cusp of change, versus the actual change itself. Think back to the butterfly. What if it reasoned the work of constructing a chrysalis, then placing its life on hold for an extended amount of time, was just too much to ask? It would never achieve maturity, and the world would be remiss of its delightful flight. What’s even more intriguing is the work that is happening inside its cocoon. Outside it looks as if the pupa is resting. In actuality, its entire body is rearranging; new organs, muscle groups and body parts are developing.

Visualize Your Desired Outcome: Visualization is key. The only way to ensure any objective is achieved is to first clearly see it as already having been accomplished. Instead of saying "I wish" convert your thought process into celebrating success with "I already have" or "I am." Count-“UP” to Your Success: Think of how different your life will be one week from now, one month from now, and so on. Don't allow the quicksand of despair to drag you down. Most of the things we are anxious about never even materialize. Being convinced that your undertaking will turn out smoothly is a surefire way to turn your dreams into reality. View each Obstacle as an Opportunity to Learn: Instead of needlessly worrying, channel your energy into positivity. Strive to avoid seeing the glass as half-empty. Realize that although there will be bumps along the road, you will be stronger for the wear. Then pay it forward by using your lessons learned to educate the next generation. While it may seem counterintuitive, when it comes to change consistency is key. Just when your life's routine appears to get nice and cozy, something will inevitably change. No need for alarm! After all, it is its unpredictability that makes life an adventure. Just remember to look straight ahead, determined and unafraid.

What about you? What life changes loom before you, and how best can you go about tackling them? Whether it’s a career change, a new relationship or the birth of a child, we are all in a constant state of flux. And those that are most successful in life possess a common trait: embracing change. Let’s explore ways in which change can be more easily managed. Yvonne Nobles is the founder of Climb42. Is There Ever a to Go Back to the Right Time Ex You Once Dumped?

L

Let’s be honest. Some of us get into very intense relationships and for some reason or another, the relationship dissolves… (and we’re the dissolver!) You never want to look back at the relationship you left behind, and you’ve rested in your decision-making-- it’s final! Then there comes a weird point when some of us contemplate whether we should go back to the man or woman we left hanging high and dry. We ponder, we pray and for some, we let fate take control, so we don’t have to make the definitive answer ourselves. Regardless of the route some of us take, we fall back in the arms of the one we once pried off our shoulders, OR we seriously ponder if we should. So, what should one do when it appears that going back to an ex is a possibility? Should you go back to what you ran away from, in hopes of something different? Or should you completely stay away in fear of going down a path of destruction? The burning answer to this question is, it all depends on the situation. (I know that’s exactly the answer no one wants to hear when making this life-altering decision, but it’s the truth.) I’ll break it down in a nutshell: If your past relationship was abuse-free, then revisiting your past could be considered. Meaning, if there were no forms of emotional/mental abuse (cheating), physical abuse (hitting) or verbal abuse (name-calling) between you and your ex, then getting back together could be brought to the table once more.

Now don’t be confused. If you fell out of love or grew apart from your ex, and abuse wasn’t a factor, then don’t fool yourself into believing that life will somehow rekindle what is completely lost. Going back to an ex only works if there is complete love left in the picture or for some reason or another, you broke up against your own free will (i.e. unexpected move, families don’t get along). Getting back into a situation with an ex can be very tricky if it’s not meant to be or more importantly, if you were the one who forfeit the relationship and decided to part ways. The feelings you had that made you walk away, are more than likely going to reappear. Sure, people change and so do situations. But it is important to evaluate all aspects of the relationship you gave up before jumping back in head first. Again, depending on how the relationship crumbled, dictates if you should make a U-turn on your dumped ex. Never look back if you left the one you once loved for reasons that’ll negatively affect or interrupt your future plans. It’s never worth it to reawaken the dead once you’ve finalized your position in their life. Take a close look at all the factors and go from there if you’re stuck in a rut. My personal take: Once dumped for good because of repeated offenses, always dumped for good.

Hommage to Haiti

Labadee (French: Labadie) is a port located on the northern coast of Haiti within the arrondissement of Cap-HaĂŻtien in the Nord department. It is a private resort leased to Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., for the exclusive use of passengers of its three cruise lines: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Azamara Club Cruises, until 2050.[1] Royal Caribbean has contributed the largest proportion of tourist revenue to Haiti since 1986, employing 300 locals, allowing another 200 to sell their wares on the premises for a fee[2] and paying the Haitian government $12 USD per tourist.[3] The resort is completely tourist-oriented, and is guarded by a private security force. The site is fenced off from the surrounding area, and passengers are not allowed to leave the property. Food available to tourists is brought from the cruise ships. A controlled group of Haitian merchants are given sole rights to sell their merchandise and establish their businesses in the resort. Although sometimes described as an island in advertisements, it is actually a peninsula contiguous with the island of Hispaniola. The cruise ship moors to the pier at Labadee capable of servicing the Oasis class ships, which was completed in late 2009. SOURCE: Wikipedia
