“My passion for art has grown with me for years. I started at a young age exploring different mediums and forms of art. Painting was just a natural progression for me.” A graduate of Behzad Art Institute in Tehran, Shirin at the age of 18 moved to Britain and studied Graphic design at Bath Academy and further in London. Having had a multicultural life, Shirin likes to explore and expand the feeling of time and place; a journey through her environment whether domestic or political. Perhaps these abstract planes are thoughts that are reflected in her paintings. “In my work I seek to intrigue and to challenge the eye, to invite it to explore and discover. Depth and texture are important elements in my work.” With sources ranging from mystical Persian poetry, fauna of the natural world, and Western influences in her current home city of London, Shirin creates compositions with both historical and contemporary references. Shirin is an artist who wears her influences visibly on her canvas melding the spirit of the Abstract Expressionists. Shirin’s work is held in private collections in the UK, France and USA.
