Garden Prep
With the seasons changing the way they do business we must get ahead of the game. The game has changed with the spring season coming in earlier than normal it causes gardens to need new prep procedures. Although we have had a cold hard winter the warm days still had an influence on spring garden needs.
Plants seem to need more attention because of the chance of frost or freezes coming after they have been planted.

Unfortunately, if you plant early there is always a chance and if you wait to late they can get caught up in the extreme summer heat. However, early planting is a better risk because if they can get past the late blackberry winter you will have healthy plants ahead of summer sizzle.
Many gardens are lost after all the hard work due to heat that is out of our control. The later the garden is planted the greater risk of facing droughts which will force you to need more watering. In the past most gardens were planted after Good Friday, however, that was when seasons were normal. If you look close you will find summer grass already growing in your yard as well as the gardens. If the grass gets the jump on your garden it will be an uphill climb all summer. Grass seems to outgrow plants because it is natural and plants are not native to the area.
Early planning will lead to better results come harvest time if you put down that remote control and pick up a garden tool.
