Grand Opening this Fall at Millbrook
The expansion of the Spring Creek Education Building is almost complete. Staff are putting the final touches on interior finishes while contractors finish punch list items A Grand Opening date will be announced soon, anticipating a fall October timeframe! The space will be open to fall programming and public rental opportunities will be announced soon! The Diane Kerly Welcome Pavilion/Restrooms are complete and open to the public. Whitehall Road Regional Park
Work is nearly complete for this NEW park and a Grand Opening is anticipated sometime this fall! We’re awaiting a final review of site conditions, installation of netting, and grass growth in a few of the reworked areas, which has taken longer than anticipated. Plans are being made to construct a pavilion and concession stand in the coming year(s), which was originally part of Phase I. The building will be conveniently located next to the playground and restroom facilities. We’re very excited to open the park soon!
PBS Kids Movie in the Park

Chalk the Walk
Get your art vibes flowing with sidewalk chalk along the bike path at Orchard Park. Each participant will get a portion of the path to create their masterpiece. After the event, CRPR staff will photograph each entry and upload it to our Facebook and Instagram accounts in each category. Voting will commence the next morning at 8 AM. Once voting closes at 8 PM that day, votes will be tallied and winners will be announced in each category. Artists are required to provide their own supplies and materials. Installations may not contain logos, commercial speech or advertising, explicit sexual imagery, nudity, or graphic depictions of violence.

Jonatas Campelo has developed his multi-faceted juggling techniques over the past 15 years as a circus artist. He started juggling in the streets of Brazil and studied with professionals throughout Latin America. He is excited to bring juggling to State College.

When we’re grieving a loss, our hearts can feel like they’ve been broken apart. Here is an opportunity for you to knit your heart back together as well as bring joy to newborns. “Med-Knit-tations” is four sessions – each session is 90 minutes – where we will knit hats and/or sweaters for newborns in the beauty of the outdoors. No knitting experience is necessary! Knitting can be very meditative, and by making hats and sweaters for newborn babies, we hope it will provide a healing opportunity. CRPR is once again partnering with Koch Funeral Home. Participants will be responsible for providing knitting needles and yarn and will receive a list of the necessary supplies after registration.

HIIT Fitness (Online)
HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, 100% effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short recovery periods. Pickleball combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It is played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court or with a slightly modified tennis net. Lavender Scouts
Lavender Scouts is an affinity scouting group designed for queer (LGBTQIA+) and questioning youth. In addition to providing a safe space for youth in the queer community to make connections and grow together, badges will be earned by participating in activities that merge natural history, cultural history, creativity, and community service. Themes of strength, resilience, and identity will be juxtaposed with the flora, fauna, and habitats of the marsh. Participants will enjoy time naturalizing in the marsh on nature walks, doing nature-themed arts and crafts, and learning about the cultural history of the queer community and the Gay Rights movement in the United States. The program is designed for ongoing enrollment (season-long), though can easily accommodate scouts who sign up after the season begins. Prorated fees and scholarships are available! Sunset Paddle
Enjoy a leisurely sunset paddle on Bald Eagle Creek. Kayaks, paddles, personal flotation devices and transportation are provided. Bird Walks with the STATE COLLEGE BIRD CLUB
Start your day off right by observing birds that are migrating to and through the Centre Region. Walks are led by members of the State College Bird Club and open to all ages. Great for beginners! Dress for the weather and bring binoculars. In the case of heavy rain, the walk that morning will be canceled. A suggested donation of $5 per participant supports Millbrook Marsh Nature Center. Scouts will complete activities and explorations that meet all or some of the requirements for a badge or try-it while exploring Millbrook Marsh Nature Center with a naturalist. Leaders can schedule a program just for their troop or gather several troops together. $8 per participant.

Why are wetlands important? What is a watershed? Explore the Marsh to learn the many tasks a wetland manages. Observe how your local watershed works while observing the flora and fauna of the area. Study the streams and interact with the aquatic macroinvertebrates! Wear water boots or shoes.
Insect Safari Preschool - 5th Grade
Explore the Marsh while searching for insects. Enjoy activities that teach about bug basics, special adaptations, insect eyes, and more about the bug world! Study the streams and interact with aquatic macroinvertebrates!
Habitat Hoppers Preschool - 1st Grade
Hop from habitat to habitat as we learn about the plants and animals that call Millbrook Marsh home. Explore fields, woodland, and wetlands with your very own naturalist. Learn how animals use their superpower animal senses and try them out for yourself.
Plants and Pollinators 2nd-5th grade
Join us as we jump into the world of plants and their animal helpers. Learn the important parts of a plant through hands-on activities. Discover what they need to grow and how they spread their seeds. Meet a variety of pollinators that help the plants make seeds.

You’ll move through several “blocks”, which are groups of exercises that focus on different muscle groups. Silversneakers BOOM Mind is an intermediate class that offers the best of yoga, Pilates, and barre combined in a mind-body mat workout. Tai Chi
Deeply rooted in Chinese medicine, meditation, and martial arts, Tai Chi combines mental concentration with slow, controlled movements to focus the mind and challenge the body. This is an ongoing, multi-level practice group that includes individual and small group instruction. Beginners learn a 24-posture form that combines breathing with motion and balance. Ongoing warm-ups, stretching, and beginner instruction comprise the first hour. Intermediate and advanced forms are practiced during the second hour. New students are invited to attend the first class at no charge. Registration is required with Centre Region Parks and Recreation on their website at www.crpr.recdesk.com for each enrollment period. There is a $2 per class fee that is paid to the Active Adult Center before each class you attend. Please wear loose-fitting clothing and sensible shoes.

Silver Spurs Line Dancing & Line Dancing Lessons
Line dancing is a fun and interactive exercise class set to music. By participating in this exciting class, you will achieve benefits such as reduction of stress and depression; increased energy and serotonin; improved flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance; strengthening of bones and improved cardiovascular health; increased mental capacity while exercising cognitive processes; and enhanced dynamic and rapid-fire decision making. About Centre Region Parks & Recreation Authority
The mission of the Centre Region Parks and Recreation Authority is to serve Centre Region residents of all ages throughout the year with a variety of recreation opportunities and access to facilities to enrich their lives through participation in programs, facility use, provision of leadership resources and technical assistance, and serving the participating municipalities' residents and groups. The Authority membership includes five municipalities--the Borough of State College and the Townships of College, Ferguson, Harris, and Patton, and the State College Area School District. Each municipality appoints one volunteer representative to serve a five-year term, plus one representative from the State College Area School District who is appointed by State College Borough Council. In October 2011, the five participating municipalities re-authorized the future of the Authority for January 2012 through December 2061. The Authority is a registered 501c3 non-profit and registered as a PA Bureau of Charitable Giving organization.
