Welcome to Centre Region Parks & Recreation
I
t‘s almost summertime! Almost! We’re looking forward to those warmer temperatures, outside activities, yard and garden work, and more, and we’re sure you are too! There are so many things to see and do this summer, but we hope you’ll consider joining us for some of the great programs and events happening with Centre Region Parks and Recreation! We can help you learn to do bike maintenance and keep your two wheels in tip-top shape. We’ve got some great summer fitness programs whether you like to exercise indoors or outdoors! We even have some new special events and our traditional summer events too! For example, check out the new Cardboard Regatta at Welch Pool on July 4th! Also, this guide’s map contains the area’s bike paths as well as locations of the region’s neighborhood, community, and regional parks if you plan to get outside and explore this summer. Don’t forget, our 2018 Pool Passes remain on sale with a resident discount through April 30! And if you haven’t noticed yet, there is a brand-new logo and awesome website for the Agency! Our new logo better represents all of our service areas and facilities and the color is bright and exciting! The new website utilizes our logo’s colors and is full of local photos and easy-to-navigate menus and pages with an interactive parks map and programs and events calendar with links to our registration page! We’ve got something for everyone, so we hope to see you at a park, program, or event this summer! Pamela J. Salokangas, CPRP, CPSI Director, Centre Region Parks & Recreation

Aquatics continued Discover SCUBA Drop-In Class
Have you ever wanted to try SCUBA? Here’s your chance! There is nothing like breathing underwater for the very first time. It takes a little getting used to; after all, human beings weren’t designed to do that, but after a few minutes of awestruck wonder, most participants realize how easy scuba diving really is! The class will include instruction on safety, equipment selection and use, and time to experiment and play with underwater games and exploration. The biggest challenge instructors have with the Discover Scuba Diving program is coaxing students out when the class is over. The fun part? It’s all fun - try it for yourself and see!
