Welcome to Centre Region Parks & Recreation
W
ell, the winter months are here, but there’s no reason to be sad! We have some great outdoor fun planned for the winter, plus there are 56 parks that offer trails to keep you moving despite the shorter days and colder temperatures! CRPR staff will be very busy this winter and spring as we continue to plan for the newest regional facility--Whitehall Road Regional Park! The park’s Phase I development will include four rectangular playing fields, an all-season pavilion with restrooms and a concession stand, a two-mile walking trail that will also serve as a connector to the Musser’s Gap Trailhead, and the All-Ability and Universally-Accessible Playground that will be a first of its kind for the Centre Region. There will be some passive areas within the park, and of course the infrastructure items like parking lots, sidewalks, entrance road, stormwater management, etc. We are very excited to be working on this project. Additionally, the Council of Governments (COG) through the Comprehensive Study Steering Committee has kicked-off a year-long project to gather, review, and evaluate all things recreation in the Centre Region. Our consultants will be working very hard to provide public input through the Comprehensive Study to include public meetings, key person interviews, online surveys, and more. Watch for more information via our website, social media pages, e-newsletters, and more! Stay warm!
