DO YOU HAVE A MINDSET FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT?
At Miami, it is important that each and every employee feels empowered to look for better ways of doing our work throughout the day. This is a continuous improvement mindset!
It requires all of us to actively look for ways to improve our processes—both big and small. Miamians at all levels of the university use this mindset to find ways to improve the student experience, minimize waste, and make Miami a better place for the many students and customers we serve.
The NEW Introduction to Continuous Improvement at Miami e-learning course is available to all Miami faculty and staff. The course will take approximately one hour to complete. In this self-paced digital course, you will learn:
• Basics of continuous improvement
• Process improvement model - PDCA
• Introductory process improvement tools
• Continuous improvement projects
• How to submit ideas for improving how we work
Access Introduction to Continuous Improvement at Miami in Workday Learning and develop a continuous improvement mindset - a way of approaching our work with curiosity, collaboration, and relentless pursuit of excellence.

REDHAWK ALERT: MIAMI UNIVERSITY'S EMERGENCY TEXT ALERT SYSTEM
Miami University provides emergency notification services to the university community via cell phone text messages and email. The system, "RedHawk Alert," is available to Miami University students, faculty, and staff, as well as visitors on all three Butler County campuses.
Students, faculty, and staff are automatically registered for Omnilert.
Messages may be used for situations that pose an immediate danger or the closing of an entire campus. Messages about Safety Bulletins generally will not be sent unless it is decided there is an imminent threat of danger. This notification service will not eliminate or replace existing emergency reporting procedures; it will add to them.
Learn more about the emergency notification and response system.
BCRTA UPDATES: ENHANCING SERVICE FOR MIAMI STUDENTS AND OXFORD RESIDENTS
The Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) is working to improve service frequency and coverage for Miami University students and Oxford residents. As part of these efforts, BCRTA recently extended the R3 fixed route to provide students with easy access to new stops, including Jungle Jim’s International Market, while maintaining a connection to Cincinnati Metro for trips to Downtown Cincinnati.
In February, BCRTA will conduct a survey inviting students to provide input on proposed service changes to launch in the fall of 2025. To learn more about BCRTA, and stay up to date on services, follow us on Instagram and Facebook .
PRESCRIPTION DRUG DROP BOX NOW AVAILABLE
The Miami University Police Department is pleased to offer a prescription drug drop box at their Police Services Center at the Ditmer Field Lot, designed for year-round disposal of outdated or unneeded pharmaceuticals. The box was obtained through a grant from the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI). Individuals wanting further information can also go to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy Drug Disposal Resources to locate take-back boxes across the country.
Unintentional drug overdoses are Ohio's leading cause of accidental death. Now, you can safely dispose of your unused medications through the Ohio Prescription Drug Drop Box Program (in partnership with Mike DeWine, Ohio Department of Health, and Drug Free Action Alliance).
Syringes and liquids are not accepted.
STAY SAFE WITH MUPD: CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS FOR THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY

It’s a new year, and a great time to set some personal goals. One of the most common New Year’s resolutions is “getting back in the gym.” This year, Miami Recreation wants to help you stick to your goal. Miami faculty and staff receive 50% off memberships throughout the year. However, during our New Year Kickoff Membership Sale, you can purchase an annual membership for an additional 20% off. That’s only $173 for a faculty/staff individual membership for the entire year! Remember, the sale ends January 20!
We know that the Rec Center can be a busy place at certain times of the day, but there are always available times to workout. In fact, we are currently working on a crowd indexing feature on the home page of our website. With this feature, you can check to see how busy the fitness center is before you stop by. Check out our Faculty and Staff page to find out more about workout opportunities. If you’re already a member, this is the absolute best time for renewal. Memberships are now available online.
