This photo was part of my first shoot, the theme was fashion. These photos were taking around the modern day fashion we see, I wanted to photograph the kind of fashion we see in everyday life. In this photo I focused on the close up of the models hair and how she was positioned. I like how this photo turned out as it stood out compared to the other photos I had taken in this shoot I think its because the positioning of the models head stands out, its big statement. The photo is framed well and the colours compliment each-other in the photo..
Looking back at this was my first shoot I had ever completed and I have learnt so much from looking at my most recent work, I can see how I have developed my style of work. I went from using a digital camera with these photos and taking a number of photos, then choosing the ones I wanted, to then using an old film camera and taking photos that was worth taking, I give more thought into what I’m taking now.
TIME STRIP EXPERIMENTING
dark room
I experimented with some different techniques in the dark room, this is the technique of time strip, we did this by exposing the photos at different times creating a graduation of colour in the same photo.
EDITED
-weak
-strong This photo was created with using a strong exposure, this is a stronger exposure this created the photo to come out a lot darker than if i had done it on a weaker exposure. -meduim
-meduim
This was not strong or weak it was in the middle, this photo came out quite well, if i was going to expose a photo i would use a medium exposure so that the photos details wouldnt come out to dakr or too light

Switch the enlarger on and move the card to reveal a strip about one fifth -meduim of the area of the paper. Hold steady for three seconds and move Switch the enlarg-strong er on and move the card to reveal a strip about one fifth of the area of the paper. Hold steady for three seconds and move the card to reveal another fifth of the paper and hold for three seconds. The first strip has now received six seconds. Repeat. Once finished place into developing liquid and wait for the photo to develop.
process: 1 enlarger head on column, stop the lens down a couple of stops to the optimum aperture, usually around f/5.6. Focus the negative bellow. 2 Then switch off the room light and turn on the safelight 3 Pull out a sheet of printing paper and cut it into smaller pieces. A 10x8in can be cut into four pieces. Keep one piece out and place the others back in the light tight packing. 4 Place the sheet on the baseboard in a suitable place on the print. Try picking a spot where there’s a good range of tones to assess when you’ve made the test strip. 5 Now get a piece of black card that’s bigger than the test paper and hold it above the paper so that it prevents any light reaching the paper when the enlarger is switched on
This photo was from my shoot where I developed the idea from fashion to the idea of how our generation is represented in the media. How the media portrays the idea of perfection, and how we all live up to these expectations. In these photos I wanted to put across the idea that we are all meant to fit into this category that the media portraysSkinny, eats healthy, goes gym, perfect straight long hair, perfect skin, where make up, mainstream clothing. I wanted to put this across in my work, how they are different people but almost the same with what they do and how they are dressed. I had them eating vegetables and in the shop looking at the labels for calories to see what they should be taking in to be perfect.
My ideal plan is to take away with expectation and have a different way of photographing beauty.

Re-shoots- the theme of this shoot was re-shoots on the same idea of the shoot I completed earlier with the two models, focusing on the idea of ‘media idea of perfection’ and how they portray this through the media. I wanted to improve the photos I had taken, to do this I exaggerated the idea a lot more and made the models look identical, I then changed the lighting I used to make the photos come out clearer, and had a simple background rather than busy locations.
These photos were to experiment with the idea of colour, I had different coloured back drops to suit the different coloured objects and props in the photo, these were my favourite from the shoot.
These photos are my favourite out of the photos I took for photographers interpretation, I wanted to include the idea of using the objects to alter the image, and when doing so came across the idea of actually using Photoshop to digitally edit the image changing the original photo being taken, I liked how Flora Borsi did this in her work with the drawing over the glass and having the glass over the models face, this idea of hers inspired me to do this with my photos I took in the shoot. I wanted to use a colour, bright colour so that the drawing would stand out in-front of the black and white, and the dark colours in the photo, I think this worked well because it brought this to more of the focus compared to the dark colour behind. When taking this photo I set up everything that is displayed in the photo, I wanted her to be positioned like that around the objects and then wanted her hand in the bowl, the reason I used the bowl of water is because it has change the way her hand it originally which is in the style of what Flora Borsi does in her work, the hand in the bowl has made her hand a different size to what it would normally look like, I like how it has done this its unusual, and different to other photos I have seen. In this photo the dark lighting has created there to be a darker look to the photo, there is no shining light to create focus its all the same amount of light covering the photo taken, I like how it has done this because the main focus in focused on the model, as she is lighter compared to the dark background. The distance in the photo is organised medium shot, I wanted it to be close so the viewer can see what is happening but to be able to, I would of needed to take it as a medium shot to be able to see the objects around the model as well. In this photo I wanted to include the objects around the model as well as the model because the object of the bowl is the main focus to the photo, as its representing the main idea I am going for in my photos. In this photo the space is used up with the objects and model I didn’t want to include much of the background because I feel as that is too distracting and will make the viewers look more onto what’s in the background rather than the actual photo, that why I used a dark backing so that there was less focus on the other things happening in the background, I wanted space to be used up in the frame of this picture so that the model will be the main focus.
Shutter speed, this shoot was to experiment with the use of shutter speed in my work, I wanted to have the model still and for the camera to capture the speed of the train going by, to do this I made the shutter speed longer, as the train is moving fast the shutter speed needed to be longer, this allowed me to capture this photo that I was aiming for.

This photo was taken for my people and possessions project, this was one of the close up I had taken for the shoot with my model and her phone. These photos were based around the idea of the mobile phone being the main possession in her life, She doesn’t put it down, the whole shoot is showing the iteration with the phone, there is no interaction with the photographer or camera no eye contact just the
After this I will be developing this idea of the phone being the possession of a person, and how people are so dependent on it, for my next shoot I could actually attach the object of a mobile phone on the person to exaggerate the idea of the phone being attached to the person.
phone in her hand. These photos were the two favourites from the shoot, I like the edit I did behind the photo I did this by selecting areas on the photo and filling them with a pattern or colour, I like this style of work and did use this technique a lot in this shoot, I would like to use this kind of idea more even with my final piece.
This shoot was to exagerate the attatchment of the phone in someones life, the phone actually being part of the body.
RELATIONSHIPS
This shoots aim was to look at how a possession doesn’t just have to be an object but it can also be a person, marriage could mean that you are now owned by each-other, I’m a possession of my parents, but then my best-friend is also a possession of me. This widened my knowledge and helped with me further my ideas and from my second mind map I looked more deeply into the topic and came across this idea of not just having an object as a possession but a person, I think its quite an interesting an different way of looking at the topic. These photos have came out really well and some of the photos are some of my favourite photos I have taken so far. This photo was my favourite because there is so much emotion too it, the model on the left is looking at her, and the model to the right is looking away it makes you wonder why? Her positioning of her turning away makes you wonder how she is feeling. I then went on to editing this photo black and white because I think it adds more depth to the photo, also I went onto edit this over with shapes because I wanted to experiment with different technique ideas over the photos.

This was a time strip I developed in the dark room to fund out the perfect timing and contrast I needed to develop the photos I had, after doing the time strip I developed them using 50 seconds, 1el and 4 contrast I found this produced the best pictures. For my next shoot I will experiment with more models using the same camera to take photos for my final piece.

what 5 photos i wanted to properly develop and use in my fianl piece.
These were my favourite 5, i liked the positioning, the angle and the clarity of all these 5 photos, once choosing these photos i will then experiment with different ideas which i

These photos were the first photos i had taken with the film camera, i had the model simply positioning her self in different areas of this estate i had taken the photos in, as i could see the outcome of the photos i didnt realise how dark they were coming out.
50SEC 1EL 5C
So when developing i noticed that the photos i was taking was verydark. This is all learning through so next shoot i will make sure that i will take the photos at a day of time where the ligt is brighter. The outcome of this shoot though i was very pleased with as it was my first time using the camera.
50SEC 1EL 5C
The lighting was natural, and i had no ocntrol over as it was an lder camera there was no setting which could help this factor. The texture of the photo is soft which i liked about the photos. Devloping them on different photo paper also changed the texture of the photos.

Final Piece
When starting with the topic of People and Possessions i decided to start with literal possessions, this is where i noticed that most of the objects people had in their hand was a mobile phone. This then led me onto to looking up the photogrpher ‘Antonie Geiger’ he produced a piece where he focused on the topic ‘sucked by the digital gulf’ He murged the face into the phone representing the idea of the attention eing sucked into the phone. I then produced my own shoot based around this idea of the phone taking the attention of the mode. After this i then when to develop the idea further with taking photos representing the idea of the phone actually being a part of the model, i had the phone rapped around the model’s hand representing how its always in the hand ‘ cant put it down’. I then went onto to doing a shoot in a busy town where i sat on the side of the bench taking photos of people walking by and almost everyone had a phone in their hand. This idea stuck to me, so after discoering this i wanted to use the phone idea more in my work.
