• The Saints have won their last seven games played at Malosky Stadium with the last loss coming against Northwestern during the inaugural 2008 season. This will be the third CSS home opener played at Malosky. The Saints are 2-3 in home openers overall. • This will be the first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) contest of the year as the Saints were voted to win the conference in the UMAC Coaches’ poll for the first time in program history. • CSS is coming off of a 36-7 defeat to Whitworth in the 2013 season opener in Spokane, WA. • The first points of the year came off a touchdown catch from Cory Gebhard in the fourth quarter. Gebhard led the receiving corps with five catches for 55 yards. • Linebacker Tyler Zurn had seven tackles and two sacks on day. • The Saints averaged 7.4 penalties per game last season, but had just four penalties in the opener.

• Head Coach Tom Parkevich will return to Duluth after being one of the founding coaches of the CSS program six years ago. Parkevich was the defensive coordinator for the Saints from 2008-11. He took the IWC head coaching job in 2012. • IWC made the switch from NAIA affiliation to NCAA Division III football this year and instated as an associate member of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. • The Tigers fell in their first Division III game to Simpson College (Iowa), 55-21. • IWC had 322 yards passing against Simpson, but was held to just 16 yards rushing. • Wide receiver Ridge Hobbs had a career day catching seven passes for 159 yards and a score. • Quarterback Zandro Diaz was 18-for-27 with 310 yards and two scores. • Harley Malmgren led the Tiger defense with 12 tackles followed by two players with nine apiece.
