Charleston Southern University 2006 Women’s Soccer Head Coach - Eric Terrill Eric Terrill enters his 12th season as the head coach of the women’s soccer program at Charleston Southern University. Terrill holds an overall record of 78-114-15 and a conference record of 32-39-9. In his 12 seasons at the helm, Terrill’s teams have finished in the top half of the conference nine times. He has coached 38 all-conference players, two rookies of the year, one player of the year, 84 scholar-athletes, two academic all-Americans and four Big South academic athletes of the year. Terrill always has been a strong recruiter with several all-americans, region team players and state players of the year under his belt. In 2006, Terrill had the number one recruiting class in the Big South and the class was ranked 23rd in the East Region by Soccer Buzz Magazine. That class includes Mia Cederholm from Sweden, who was ranked as one of the top 20 international players. Terrill has been coaching for 20 years, the first six as an assistant before earning his first head coaching job at Chowan College, where he directed both the men’s and women’s teams in 1993 and 1994. At Chowan he had to start the men’s and women’s programs from scratch and he led both programs to successful seasons before coming to CSU. Before coaching at Chowan, Terrill served as assistant men’s and women’s coach at nationally ranked Lee’s McRae College from 1990-93 and as an assistant with the men’s program at Appalachian State from 1987-89. Besides his college coaching experience, Terrill has also been active in the soccer community as a club director and an instructor at several camps and clinics throughout the country. He currently serves as a South Carolina Olympic Development Staff Coach, and has also been involved with Region III, Virginia ODP and Tennessee ODP. Terrill is a 1987 graduate of Michigan State University with a B.A. in physical education and earned his master of arts in education with a concentration in sports management from
Assistant Coach-Heather Orman
Goalkeeper Coach-Ehren Kilian
Heather Orman joins the CSU staff for the 2006 season after spending five years as an assistant at Campbell University. There she helped lead the team to the Atlantic Sun tournament three times. The Camels also won the conference championship for the first time under her direction. Orman is a graduate of Lock Haven (Pa.) University and served as an assistant at Elmira (N.Y.) College before going to Campbell. She holds the National Diploma certification from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. During her career at Lock Haven, Orman set school records for career goals scored, assists, points and also for singleseason assists. She finished her four years with 47 assists, which currently ranks 12th among the all-time NCAA Division II leaders. Orman was named All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference three times and served as captain of her team for four years. A Dean’s List student at Lock Haven, Orman earned her degrees in Health and Physical Education and Sports Management in 1999. A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., she received her M.S. in Education from Elmira College in 2001.
Ehren Kilian re-joins the CSU staff for the 2006 season, after having coached the goal keepers in 1998-99. From CSU, Kilian went to Colorado where he was the coach of the University of Colorado Club team, helping lead them to the NIRSA National Championship in 2002. He was also the goal keepers coach for the University of Colorado in 2003. Kilian has experience soccer on every level, having played at Montreat College before transferring to CSU in 1997. At Montreat, Kilian was named to the All-Freshman team as well as All-Conference, and was awarded the Willie Mangum Safe Hands Award for the top goalie. At CSU, Kilian was named to the Big South All-Tournament team, helping lead the Bucs to the Conference Championship in 1997. He holds the CSU school records for wins in a season and for shutouts in a season. After playing at CSU, Kilian spent time in the MLS, training with the Tampa Bay Mutiny. He also played professionally in the USISL and USL before injuries forced him to retire in 2002.
Student Assistant - Katie Crona Crona joins the CSU staff after a successful playing career. While playing for CSU, Crona had an outstanding junior year, scoring 15 goals, which is second all-time at CSU, and scoring 34 points, which is also second all-time. She started every game that season, tying her for the record of starts in a season with 21. For her work on and off the field, Crona was named a two-time scholar-athlete of the year in the conference and was named to the all-conference teams two years. Crona is originally from Littleton, Colo., and is finishing up a degree in business.

Charleston Southern University 2006 Women’s Soccer 2006 Season Outlook Going into the season, Charleston Southern head coach Eric Terrill has high hopes coming off his second straight conference semi-finals appearance. With just one senior and two juniors, it’s not Terrills most veteran squad, but two solid recruiting classes in a row have the Lady Bucs with high aspirations for the season. Senior Karen Knight has been solid throughout her CSU career and will be looked at to anchor a young defense again this year. Briana Murphy, an AllConference performer as a sophomore, will return for her junior year and again will add tremendous speed up front. Fellow junior Megan McGonegal will look to play an expanded role this year as one of the veterans on the team. After a huge recruiting class for the 2005 season, CSU will return eight sophomores who thrived in their first year in Terill’s system. An All-Conference performer in 2005 and a pre-season All-Conference selection in 2006, Emma Mattsson will fight for player of the year honors in her sophomore season. Mattsson spent the offseason playing on the Swedish National Team as they won the Nordic Cup. Jessica Kim, and Brittany Bolick were all solid defenders in their freshman year and will provide a solid base for the 2006 season. Lindsey Trexler made an immediate impact in the midfield, leading the team with five assists, also scoring three goals. With Trexler paired with Caitlin Gunyan in the midfield, the Lady Bucs look to have a solid corps coming back. Forward Randall McCoy adds great speed up front and will look to improve on her two goals that she scored in her freshman year. Christine Bethke, and Melanie Blaschke each provided great depth last season, and will play an increased role in 2006. Alissa Schoblaski and Rose Marie Senise each redshirted the 2005 season, but will look to make an impact right away. Adding to all of the talent returning is one of Terrill’s best recruiting classes in his 11 years at CSU. Soccerbuzz magazine has named the 2006 class as the number one group in the Big South Conference and 23rd in the Southeast Region. This class is special because of Swedish keeper Maria Cederholm. Her experience with Sweden’s youth national teams got richer this spring as she has been a roster player for the national squad competing in the European U-19 Championships. Coach Terrill picked up another solid goalie with InterUnited Hayasa’s Jena Uvalle who has been part of the Florida ODP state team pool. Local midfielder and two-time all-stater Sarah Catenacci plays with the South Carolina ODP state team while winning a prep state title and the state cup with her CESA club program. Alyssa Clay and Toni Interrant are two great defensive additions. Clay comes from club power Colorado Rush, which won three state championships with Clay in tow. Interrant also captured a state crown with her Smithtown HS squad. Caitlin Wesnesky could get a look at the forward spot after earning all-state honors in New Jersey.
