PFM International - Proud of our People By Dave MacKenzie
Many companies have key phrases that they believe tells all readers what they are about. Sometimes they are true and sometimes they are not. At PFM, we truly are Proud of our People! From drivers, to dispatch, to office staff and management, all put 110% into the job and do it well. PFM was founded in 1998 by Sheldon and Mark Koslovsky. They grew rapidly from 1 truck and 2 trailers to over 30 trucks and 35 trailers because of their philosophy of making their company a family orientated business. The trucking industry is likely one of the most legislated industries out there. As a carrier, there is no way around all the red tape, rules are rules and they must be followed. However, as an employer, we can make this experience an easier one on the driver, with a mandate to ensure that the driver has a good pay cheque each and every payday.
We at PFM have succeeded in making a business plan that is both successful for the staff, management and most of all for the Driver and Owner Operators. Over the years, we have grown our business with technology and continue to improve our working experience and improved results to our customers. Recently we have implemented a training program for newer drivers. PFM is a premium refrigerated carrier, our lanes are specific. We have chosen to service Western Canada to the TX corridor and the Carolinas. Our customers and our drivers appreciate working with a well-established solution provider managed by very experienced people. Just like any new advertiser we at CTM like to check them out by me (Dave) taking a ride in thier truck and doing a full tour on the road. PFM passed in spades,, as one of the Best Trucking Companies I have had the pleasure to turn a wheel with. Come check them out!

– Women In Trucking Association (WIT) has announced Jessica Luttrell as its December 2019 Member of the Month. Luttrell is a professional driver for Umpqua Dairy in Roseburg, Oregon. When Luttrell was 30 years old, she moved to Oregon in search of a new career. She noticed a lot of trucks in her area and researched what it would take to become a driver. Luttrell did no grow up around trucks, but had always been fascinated with them. So, she felt becoming a professional truck driver was a good career choice.

By; Ellen Voie CAE, President/CEO Women in Trucking After obtaining her CDL, she started driving over-the-road solo. Most memorable during this time was transporting rescue animals who were close to being euthanized to new cities and states to foster homes. Later, Luttrell’s husband followed in her footsteps, also obtaining his CDL. They drove team over-theroad for two years. At that point, Luttrell made a choice to drive locally so that she could be closer to her children at home. Driving locally gave Luttrell the opportunity to drive a dump truck for a construction company and even a tanker for a farm company. She is currently running a refer unit in the Pacific Northwest and is able to be home every night. “The company I currently work for has been around since 1931, and I am the first female truck driver hired here,” said Luttrell. “I feel like my job performance is setting the bar for future female drivers within this company.” Luttrell’s goal is to move into a trucking management position and become the first female truck driver in a management position. Women In Trucking Association, Inc. is a nonprofit association established to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the trucking industry. Membership is not limited to women, as 17 percent of its members are men who support the mission. Follow WIT on Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn. Rescue dogs and lost pets who need a ride home have a new group of allies in Canada: truck drivers. A group based in Thunder Bay, Ont., will help coordinate rides for animals who are heading from one part of the country to another. Furry Hobos and Hiway Heroes is the creation of Margaret Foster. A former truck driver, she took it upon herself to help coordinate rides for those with four legs. "It actually gives them something they feel good about. I mean, you go up and down the road here, you see the accidents and everything else that happens," said Foster. She said nearly 300 dogs have been transported through the group to their new homes, anywhere in Canada. She said some trucks in the United States are also now part of her 'network', allowing

for international movement of the animals in need. Foster said drivers are not compensated, but she asks for a donation of home baking, or a gift card for coffee. Help from the community Foster said many of the drivers have their own animals in their trucks, that they refer to as 'An Ambassador.' The one ambassador cat of the group, named Turtle, recently got out of a truck in Granby, QC. Foster said she's overwhelmed, as it seems the whole community wants to find the cat. She said the Ambassador animals are a key part of the program. "The dogs are so relaxed, they introduce them before they come into the truck." " They show them the bunk, like 'this is where we can lay and

sleep' and it just keeps them really really calm and collected. And, they enjoy it." As for continuing to help ferry rescue animals, or those who are lost and found to their proper homes, Foster said most drivers can't get enough of it. "[One driver], he gets a hold of me all the time and says, 'Margaret, I'm getting tired of laughing at my own jokes, you'd better give me a dog.'" Visit on FaceBook; Furry Hobos N Hiway Hero"s. MyDenny’s App Adds Value for Frequent Diners
It's all about you. Your preferences, your tastes, your cravings. It's your Denny's, so why not have it all? Make Denny's yours with MyDenny's, the only app that earns you perks with every bite you take. Denny’s Restaurants has been a staple of Canadian dining for the last 45 years, providing classic diner fare, an inviting atmosphere, and great value for all their guests. With 59 locations across the country, many located along major transit routes, Denny’s is a dining staple for drivers, providing a bit of comfort and familiarity when away from home. Denny’s has always placed a high importance on being a good value, but with their recently relaunched Loyalty Program they have found a way to make dining an even better deal, especially for their loyal customers. With a simple download from Google Play or the App store, the free MyDenny’s mobile app allows guests to earn points for every purchase at participating stores. Every purchase also earns a stamp on their digital loyalty card. Once the card has been filled in, members earn a special $5 reward coupon and a new card is started automatically. One of the big questions about the app, has been how hard is it to get enough points to get the rewards? Well the answer is it’s easy, and there are lots of added incentives to sign up! New members automatically get 50 points for registering and there are opportunities to earn bonus points by completing polls on the app and entering promo codes that are posted on social media or emailed to their members. It doesn’t take long to earn enough points to redeem for rewards such discounts on purchases or free food and beverages. Every week Denny’s is giving away one thousand points to a new member, so there is an added incentive to sign up. With over 45,000 members and growing quickly, the app is proving to be highly successful for both Denny’s and their customers. One of the cool new upgrades to the app is the ability to scan a QR code on the bottom of each receipt, making it quick and easy to add the points to your account. Members can also use the app to send invitations to meet up with friends and share points back and forth with other members. For the non-smartphone users, there is a desktop version of the loyalty program available at www.mydennys.ca providing all the perks, promotions, and contests available through the app. If you are a Blackberry user, you can use the mobile web version on your phone’s Internet browser, also at mydennys.ca.
