I am unhappy that my Fav Shows are cancelled this year including our own Cancer Fighting Show but looking forward to 2021. Main thing is Safety First, Social Distance from ones you don’t know and wash, wash your hands. 2020 saw a Personal Loss of mine after 63 years, my Mom Inga-lil MacKenzie left us after 94 years on this earth. Pictured here to the right at the Canadian trucking Show, she always looked forward to, with that great smile n loving everyone. For those who met her at the shows or saw her on some of the Live Videos you will remember her wit and sense of humour and great singing. Mom is deeply missed. Being in Law-Enforcement for over 40 years I understand how lucky I am and won the Genetic Lottery with my parents. They gave me a great sense of humour, a love of my fellow people without prejudice , Truth , Honour and Justice with giving back. Many companies have key phrases that they believe tells all readers what they are about. Sometimes they are true and sometimes they are not. At PFM, we truly are Proud of our People! From drivers, to dispatch, to office staff and management, all put 110% into the job and do it well. PFM was founded in 1998 by Sheldon and Mark Koslovsky. They grew rapidly from 1 truck and 2 trailers to over 30 trucks and 35 trailers because of their philosophy of making their company a family orientated business. The trucking industry is likely one of the most legislated industries out there. As a carrier, there is no way around all the red tape, rules are rules and they must be followed. However, as an employer, we can make this experience an easier one on the driver, with a mandate to ensure that the driver has a good pay cheque each and every payday.
We at PFM have succeeded in making a business plan that is both successful for the staff, management and most of all for the Driver and Owner Operators. Over the years, we have grown our business with technology and continue to improve our working experience and improved results to our customers. Recently we have implemented a training program for newer drivers. PFM is a premium refrigerated carrier, our lanes are specific. We have chosen to service Western Canada to the TX corridor and the Carolinas. Our customers and our drivers appreciate working with a well-established solution provider managed by very experienced people. – The Women In Trucking Association (WIT) recognizes a third-generation female truck driver, Jacinda Duran, as its February 2020 Member of the Month. Jacinda has been around trucking her entire life. With many family members in the industry, she says it was inevitable that she would be too. Her mother was a professional truck driver for 23 years and often took Duran with her on the job. Her father drove dump trucks and cement trucks. Her grandmother hauled produce in California for over 50 years. Her grandfather did his truck driving in the 1950s. They even have a relative who appeared on the television series, Shipping Wars.

Ten years ago, Duran started her logistics career at FedEx Express as a courier, then transitioned into big rigs in 2014. She has experience driving limos, buses, charter buses and everything in between. Today, Duran drives enclosed car carriers for Plycar Transportation, based in Kings Park, N.Y. The company recruited her after seeing her social media page, Jacinda Lady Truckin. They recognized that her passion for trucking was a great fit for their elite trucking team. Through Plycar’s six-week training program, Duran learned to transport, load and unload unique, one-of-a-kind cars and became the company’s first solo female driver. For the past year, Duran has driven from coast to coast and in all 48 states. She says the best thing about her job is the freedom. She continues to inspire women to reach for the stars through her social media platform. She makes every day an adventure and continues to explore this great country. “I stay out on the road for a long period of time, living in my truck. I get to travel the country, seeing friends, making new friends and living the best life out on the road. I am blessed and thank God every day for my health, my life and my blessings,” said Duran. Duran is a proud mother of two children. Her daughter is in nursing school at Northern Arizona University and her son is a cadet in the US Air Force Academy, obtaining a degree in Aero Engineering. Women In Trucking Association, Inc. is a nonprofit association established to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the trucking industry. Rescue dogs and lost pets who need a ride home have a new group of allies in Canada: truck drivers. A group based in Thunder Bay, Ont., will help coordinate rides for animals who are heading from one part of the country to another. Furry Hobos and Hiway Heroes is the creation of Margaret Foster. A former truck driver, she took it upon herself to help coordinate rides for those with four legs. "It actually gives them something they feel good about. I mean, you go up and down the road here, you see the accidents and everything else that happens," said Foster. She said nearly 300 dogs have been transported through the group to their new homes, anywhere in Canada. She said some trucks in the United States are also now part of her 'network', allowing

for international movement of the animals in need. Foster said drivers are not compensated, but she asks for a donation of home baking, or a gift card for coffee. Help from the community Foster said many of the drivers have their own animals in their trucks, that they refer to as 'An Ambassador.' The one ambassador cat of the group, named Turtle, recently got out of a truck in Granby, QC. Foster said she's overwhelmed, as it seems the whole community wants to find the cat. She said the Ambassador animals are a key part of the program. "The dogs are so relaxed, they introduce them before they come into the truck." " They show them the bunk, like 'this is where we can lay and

sleep' and it just keeps them really really calm and collected. And, they enjoy it." As for continuing to help ferry rescue animals, or those who are lost and found to their proper homes, Foster said most drivers can't get enough of it.
