On the COVER is Steph “Hammer Down” Custance the new Ice Road Trucker coming out this summer. Steph was at the Canadian Trucking Show meeting IRT Fans and even was on stage to sing a song. I know you will love to watch her this season and find out all about her. Bottom right is a husband and wife team Mark & Jan from Ian Smart Photography who are no strangers to pictures taken by them and placed for your enjoyment in CTM. Mark is in the trucking industry and has a passion for trucks, and loves to combine a passion for photography with the passion for trucks. They do custom truck photography, family photos, and other projects as commissioned. They have a basement studio in thier home and are available for large groups or events. Here comes Chrome for Kids in Mission at the Mission Raceway Park by ZZ Chrome. That’s in British Columbia and worth the trip for sure. ZZ Chrome puts this on Supporting BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and with the help of Trucking makes a huge donation. Fergus is one of my favorite shows in Ontario as you can camp out there and have great times with your Brothers and Sisters in Trucking and watch the pulls. Canadian Trucking Show was the BEST one EVER!!!! Here is a taste but much more in the Expanded Web Edition! With over 60 different displays and 4 bands plus 2 special guest performers and an awesome music man with a trivia contest. Farmery Beer was in the house to the right here, with Free Beer samples and waffles flanked by the Winnipeg Hooter Gals and the Gals from Fionn MacCool’s. By noon we had over 2,000 attendees through the gates and not one disappointed. This continues throughout the day till we reached over 8,000 attending. Tri-Service Military Veterans Association of Canada helped out Big Time again and ran the 50/50 and silent auction providing great prizes to those who donated. On the heels of that the fine members of the Military Police put on an awesome display and did not hold back from vehicles to weapons and Kaitlynne & William to the right as many others tried on the equipment. Big Daddy Tazz was in the house as the MC pounding it out on the Mic and Leanne Cater the “Boss Lady” from QX104 was on the radio! Lots of easy parking for Big Rigs and four wheelers with no waits or line ups to get in. Next year Bigger and Better than ever with the bands placed on the Red Barn stage and the Red Barn Beer Garden opened up with more food vendors and entertainment.

To the right Champion Towing out did themselves again with a terrific display of recovering a Truck & Trailer on its side. Twice Champion lifted it up and then set it back down.

CBP Officers Find More than 1 Ton of Marijuana Stashed in Roof of Commercial Trailer
CALEXICO, Calif. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Calexico East commercial facility stopped an alleged smuggling attempt Monday after discovering almost 2,500 pounds of marijuana concealed in the roof of a commercial trailer. Officers discovered 232 wrapped bundles of marijuana concealed in the trailer’s roof. “Calexico CBP officers processed hundreds of commercial shipments that day and identified that this conveyance needed a more intensive inspection,” said Calexico Port Director David Salazar. “As a result, the officers stopped more than a ton of marijuana from entering our community, and prevented one million dollars in potential profit from reaching criminal organizations.” The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on June 6, when CBP officers encountered a 2009 International tractor-trailer that had entered the cargo facility transporting a manifested shipment of onions and shallots. Officers referred the commercial truck to the port’s inspection dock for a more in-depth examination.
During an inspection of the conveyance, and following an alert from a CBP human-narcotics detector dog, officers discovered 232 wrapped bundles concealed in the trailer’s roof. The bundles field-tested positive as marijuana, valued at approximately $1 million. The driver, a 28-year-old male Mexican citizen and resident of Mexicali, Baja California, was turned over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigation agents for further processing. CBP seized the marijuana, the truck and trailer. Note from Dave! If you see suspicious activity, persons asking you for a ride across the border in your vehicle, a loose lipped driver talking about smuggling loads of weapons or drugs, do us all a big favour and contact authorities. Try to get as much information as possible without becoming involved and shut these bad guys down. They are bad for our business.

It seems like yesterday but 40 years ago Jack Shields and his 3 sons (Clarence, Jim & John) started their first restaurant an A&W, in a small northern town called Fort McMurray. At that time there were less then 5,000 people living in that community.
