DASKALO - MOD

London based Daskalo has modelled the length and breadth of the world despite being fairly new to the scene. A year in the life of a model has amassed much in terms of travelling and memorable experiences, seeing the sights and sounds of Los Angeles, Greece, the Netherlands, Dubai and Mumbai. It was only by chance that Daskalo fell into modelling. “A work colleague at the gym where I was working as a nutritionist suggested I could do it. A client I had at the time was a photographer and we exchanged a session for a shoot. Images from the shoot were shared online and interest within the photography circulated, leading Daskalo into his second career as a model. Daskalo enjoys modelling fashion, particularly for fashion shows, editorials and catalogue work, and has already worked for well known names such as Diesel, Thomas Pink, Vivienne Westwood, Versace and Moschino. Daskalo finds working within the studio can be fun when he makes a good connection with the photographer, although he admits shooting out on location tends to be more interesting, where inspiration can be sourced first hand from the surrounding natural set. DEL - LONDON

Delving into Daskalo's work ethic and attitude toward his modelling, he considers it a lifestyle as a whole, not just a series of individual shoots or projects. He insists being professional, punctual and a good listener is crucial to be a good model, with a willingness to learn and improve from every experience. He preps in advance for shoots by keeping generally fit and eating a balanced diet, maintaining a regular sleep routine and ensuring his hair is in good condition. “Make sure you carry some key items with you on a shoot that might come in useful.” He adds. When asked about his favourite shoot to date, Daskalo struggles to pinpoint one from many shoots he's enjoyed. But there is one he remembers to be particularly monumental: “I was a driving a car being chased by motorcycles - it was like a chase scene out of a movie!” With only a year's modelling under his belt, that kind of experience is going to be hard to be beat, but Daskalo has all the credentials making him one to watch on the fashion scene.

Born in a small town in the now non-existing country Czechoslovakia, David Olsan was surrounded by a rich creative culture. The great classical composer Smetana heralded from the very same town where a magnificent renaissance chateau, baroque cathedral and a gothic church all stand. David's subconscious absorbed the intricate architecture, influencing his eye behind the lens of his camera. "I have experimented with other art forms but photography gives me the perfect outlet and helps me to express the way I see the world. Experimental fashion is what makes me inspired. I do all kinds of photography but fashion has the freedom and beauty I demand." "I don’t like plain studio backgrounds. A woman does not live in front of white paper. She lives on the street, in a motor car, in a hotel room. I also like the light that tends to exist in hotel rooms. I do not like strobes. Plus there’s room service. But anything is better than a studio.

Why Choose Ring Lights? Ring lights can provide awesome light. They are very common within the fashion industry where they are used to create a glamorous look. Continuous ring light is a great way to add a sharp, but direct light source to any image. Ring lights don’t come cheap, though a resourceful photographer can make his own for a small amount of money.

Candy Sweet:

The Skittles Dress Sarah Bryan's Story

Editorial by Becky Magson

Inspiration comes from the funniest of places. Watching my little girl in her ball pool playing with the multicoloured balls was my lightbulb moment. I was entering a major beauty competition with the theme 'sweet like candy'. When the idea for my Skittles dress came to me I researched to make sure it hadn't been done before and amazingly I was the first! Casting my mind back to the loom band dress which made a killing on eBay I decided I would auction it off for Lymphoma Association and put some funds towards helping smaller unknown charities targeting children and their parents. I started making the dress at beauty college and the media attraction was immediate. Sadly the attention my dress was receiving caused upset amongst some other people, which unsurprisingly upset me too, so I decided to pull out of the competition. My confidence was shaken but I still wanted the dress to raise awareness and much needed funds for the charities so it was perfect when make up artist Evie Horner agreed to take my place in the competition.

"just three girls helping each other out in their chosen path"

The competition was amazing but unfortunately we didn't win. As team 'ProjectTasteTheRainbow' we asked the judges for criticism who said they had none, which just made our night. The day after the competition we had ITV news along with the local newspapers and radio out wanting to interview us. The amount of media attention the Skittles dress has amassed has been amazing. I will be holding the auction soon but for now I am trying to get as much exposure as possible in the hope it'll be as big a success for the charities as possible. For the future I have already got my crazy thinking cap on and currently building a website where I will incorporate my nails and beauty along with my personalised and unique clothing. I would love you to follow me on twitter for all updates on #projecttastetherainbow so come find me at @sarah_l_bryan and follow the rainbow!

Thank you so much to everyone on the nail support groups that built my confidence back up and to Sherri and Evie for being absolutely amazing! Without them I'd have been stumped. Also massive thanks to Richard Nicholson, the first photographer to get pictures of this very unique creation.

Alan's Got Talent Editorial by Becky Magson

The entertainment industry is a fickle business, and common is it that pursuers with big dreams and stars in their eyes fail to make the cut.

Alan Harding (the man behind the talent)

Victoria, Australia based Alan Harding knows a thing or two when it comes to the testing world of performing; a lifelong journey which has seen him go from the humble school stage to acting in major productions. And now, his ambitious drive has come full circle, only this time he is the one feeding the hunger of emerging talent.

Raised within a rambling farming community in rural Gippland, Victoria, Alan's passion for the stage sparked at an early age where the school play provided him a platform to release his creative energy. Into his teenage years, Alan's thirst led him on to joining a local theatrical group where likeminded amateurs met together in an old butter factory, and it wasn't long before he was cast in his first major production: Christopher Milne's “Naughty Stories for Good Boys and Girls”, a monumental moment that marked Alan's legitimate progression into the profession. It was during this exploratory time of his acting career that Alan realised his talent for educating. Training a fellow actor who gained appearances in popular Aussie soap, Home and Away, and then working on several commercials opened an insight into tv and film, an avenue Alan knew he had to take. “I came away from these experiences knowing I wanted to learn more and help others in the wonderful world of the entertainment industry.”

Alan's new direction took him travelling around Victoria for the most part of his twenties; studying and working in the fields that earned him the marketing and legal knowledge which would later prove invaluable. A brief stint volunteering for the homeless was to be the chance meeting of a lifetime: the woman who later became Alan's wife. But just as acquaintances were being made, the love of his life had to return to her homeland Canada, not that a little distance would put him off. “I thought, I have traveled the country, why not travel a bit of the world? So I did.” And so Canada became the temporary destination and scenery to Alan's entertainment resume. It proved to be a rewarding decision, with opportunities arising to work with big industry names, not least the acclaimed Kevin Costner.

Photography Leah Reynolds Two years on, the now happily married couple Model Georgina Elliott relocated back to Australia, laying down roots in Coffs Harbour, a new hometown which would be the inspiration for Alan's entertainment culmination: Coffs Talent. Once a budding actor himself, Alan now dedicates his time to nurturing the young talent in the business; a vulnerable position he only has too much experience of. “After a couple of years helping almost 50 young talents I decided to tour the country and help not just those starting out but those talents that wanted to go international.”

It seems Alan's aspirations have no limits, and in tinseltown, the sky really is the only limit.
