Two years ago, when I was 21 and still struggling to find my creative output and being a girl who didn’t wear much make-up, I was more than surprised when I was walking past a class of media make-up students and had an overwhelming sense that, that was what I wanted to do and where my future career lay. So as soon as I could, I enrolled on a course at The Manchester College, and began my studies, which has involved a lot of dedication and traveling from my little village in North Wales, but it’s all been worth it as the hard work is slowly but surely beginning to pay off!
My passion for makeup has continually increased over the past two years as I’ve grown and developed and seen how make-up can outwardly transform an individual, the creative possibilities with make-up are endless and it continues to intrigue and inspire me. My enthusiasm stems from the great opportunities and freedom of expression found in this form of art! For example, I like to dabble in body art and enjoy putting twists on classic characters, my most recent being my ‘Alice & The After Tea-Party’ shoot, where I drew inspiration from Tim Burton’s Alice and made her the opposite of the innocence in the book, but with remnants of the original Alice showing through. When working on my own personal projects I like to have as much creative input as possible, from hair & make-up to designing and styling the costume, accessories and prop styling, as this gives me an immense sense of achievement once the finished product can be seen in print!

However, over the past year I’ve been lucky enough to work with some great photographers and stylists, and always love to hear the ideas of other creatives pushing to make their mark on the industry. I’ve also had the great experience of working on several location shoots, in some amazing locations, such as the Snowdonia mountain range, also, the Victoria Baths in Manchester and Gladstone library in Wales, both providing some incredible architecture. Working on location has been a learning curve to say the least, with no heating and poor lighting in the make-up room, to unpredictable weather! All of which has helped me develop as a make-up artist and hair stylist, and I wouldn’t change a single thing – apart from the rain.
I’m currently in the process of moving to Brighton where I can be nearer to London and hopefully broaden my horizon as a make-up artist, and develop further. I’ll also be competing at IMATS (International Make-up Artist Trade Show) this summer, which is very exciting, if not extremely nerve wracking! I’m always looking to collaborate with other creatives on interesting shoots and projects, from strong and clean yet striking looks to the more creative and AvantGarde, so if you have an idea and would like to work with me, don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Cordelia as shot by Amy Spires www.amyspiresphotography.com www.facebook.com/amyspiresphotography
I came across the Cordelia brand on Instagram and loved the bold, bright summer colours. I’d wanted to do a very over the top, girly fun shoot for a while and thought her customised tees would be perfect. I am always drawn to new brands, especially ones with an edge, and knew this was right up my street.
I was inspired by the 90s grunge goth trend and decided to mix that up a bit with passion fruit colours and crazy hair, which was modelled by Sandra & Jessica. I also wanted to show the tee’s worn in a more natural, flirty way and decided to use a third model with a very different look, which I think Natasha represented perfectly. Check out the Cordelia range on Facebook or their website.

India is a young, Leeds based model. She started modelling in 2011 aged just 15 after a posing for a portrait with a then new photographer, James Scrivener, a family friend. This portrait was spotted by another local photographer and India was asked to model at a large bridal shoot for UK Wedding Photographers. It was obviously a popular picture as it also featured on the cover of issue 4 of CT magazine. India loved her experience at the bridal shoots and has since gone from strength to strength building up a strong and varied portfolio encompassing fashion, beauty and commercial work and also taking part in catwalk shows and exhibitions. She continues to develop her skills and is always looking for exciting and creative projects. She is also looking for opportunities to combine her modelling and horsemanship skills.
When not in front of the camera India devotes herself to caring for abused and mistreated horses at a local rescue sanctuary and studies Equine Management at college. She eventually intends to qualify as an Equine Psychologist and open her own centre where she can continue her work rehabilitating traumatised equines. India was a finalist in Miss Leeds 2013. By progressing through this competition she hopes to further her charity work, fundraising and promoting worthy causes.

MODEL Charlotte Haynes
I’m a British fashion, portrait, editorial & music photographer born in South London , England and now based on the borders of London and Kent . My work crosses many photographic genres but I am always striving to create a look that’s individual and stylish.
Between 1980 and 1982 i studied Photography and Film at a South East London comprehensive school and absolutely fell in love with the subject and the whole process of developing and printing my own work, after passing my o’level i worked at trying to find a way into the industry but grew dishearten and moved on to other things but all the while I still maintained my love of photography.
It wasn’t until 2010 that i dived into the world of digital photography purchasing my first d and started to shoot again on a regular basis, during this time i really learned how to photograph in a variety of styles with many lighting set ups. Over the next few years I hav been lucky enough to shoot some great models and even the odd celebrity including the actress Kathryn Drysdale from BBC’S 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps and itv’s Benidorm as well as drumming legend Rick Butler who played with The Jam . Hopefully things will continue to go well and I’m looking forward to see where I can take my work in the next few years. Feel free to contact me on my email at andybowmanphotography@hotmail.co.uk or you can see more of my work on my facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/sensorphotography 22

www.fallintolondon.co.uk - www.fallintolondon.etsy.com What's your favourite collection / design you have ever done? The What ELLE Wears collection does stand out as I created it from the inspiring story of Louise Wedderburn. This collection was so fun to do I have had so much support from those on Facebook and Twitter in promoting the sale of these illustrations as the proceeds raised will go towards research into finding a cure for FOP. I was over the moon when one of the illustrations from this collection was featured in the April edition of ELLE magazine! Where do you draw your inspiration from? I’m mainly inspired by my love of fashion. Even as a kid I remember always carrying around my sketch book, pencil and fashion magazine in my Disney 101 Dalmatian bag! So I guess nothing has changed…actually the bag has!
What do your friends and family think of you being a designer? They think it really suits me. My dad taught me how to draw when I was quite young, so he is happy that I’ve kept on with it.
31
What do you think makes a good designer? I’ve learnt that staying true to your own imagination is the key. However it’s also worth keeping your mind open so that you allow inspiration from others to come through. I also think its important to support other illustrators. Who is your personal favourite fashion designer and why? I love Alexander McQueen because I can go as nuts as I want when I illustrate one of his pieces. One recent one being a wedding dress illustration for Essex Style Magazine. I also love Mary Katrantzou, Dior, Louboutin, YSL, Oh I love them all!
How do you see your brand developing over the next few years? It would be amazing to have my illustrations sold in John Lewis and Liberty’s one day… but until then I will continue creating illustrations that I love and will hopefully be loved by others.
I feel very grateful and lucky for all the new projects that have come my way. I do believe in the Pablo Picasso quote: ‘Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working’.

I moved back to the UK 2 years ago after working for channel nine Brisbane and fashion tv Odessa.
My aim is to bring high end cinematic fashion style shoots to all in the sleepy county of West Sussex . Building hmy own sets as and when they are needed and creating new and improved ways over the old standards. No concept is wrong , only misunderstood.

With this project I proposed to combine both fashion and art through some fairy inspired portraits. Fairies and fairytales are a touch over used in photography these days by over zealous students and bright young things who suddenly exclaim "wow I'll bet no-ones done a sleeping beauty shoot before" and subsequently drag a poor protesting friend into the woods and make them pretend to be asleep while they snap away. I wanted to avoid that by keeping the premise of the shoot very simple: To showcase two items by the Crypt of Curiosities and the talents of the creative team. Amber Von Tassell who did hair is very good at feminine, magical hair styles and Tara the Make Up Artist is very creative and really understands colour. Toni was the perfect model with her doe eyes and sweet face. The pictures themselves are simple portraits but with the intention to give a slightly ethereal, elf like grace to the final product. I wanted the images to give the feeling of an eternal summer evening. The sort of long stretching afternoon when you can almost believe in Fairyland because the sun sprinkles gold on everything it touches.
The images were shot in Saltwell park whilst avoiding a rain storm and hiding under ample blossom trees which made the summer theme a bit difficult but not impossible.
