The Museum located at West India Quay in east London and opened in 2003, occupies one of the few remaining original grade one listed warehouses, built in 1802 to store sugar, rum and coffee from the West Indies. The museum also houses the London, Sugar and Slavery gallery which is the only
permanent gallery dedicated to the history of slavery in London. There is also a special events and rotating temporary exhibitions programme as well as a popular café so do visit the museum’s website ahead of your visit. Groups of all sizes are very welcome and can enquire about enhancing your visit with curator talks, tours around their galleries and expert led walks.
The museum is open 7 days a week, from 10am5pm and is FREE to all.
