Master of Education – Teaching and Learning
Offered at the University Center of Greenville
The purpose of the Master of Education program in Teaching and Learning is to provide advanced education and experiences for certified teachers in the state of South Carolina and beyond. The program is open to qualified individuals with teacher certification in local and regional communities. The objectives of the program are to • Enhance the practice of certified teachers. • Provide a source for the development of highly qualified teachers for South Carolina. • Provide a rigorous program of study grounded in current research. The specialty content areas served by the Teaching and Learning program include mathematics education, science education, English education, social studies education and elementary education. Program Requirements: The Teaching and Learning program requires a minimum of 30 credit hours (33 for those who have not successfully completed an undergraduate content reading course) in graduate courses with a grade-point ratio of 3.0 or higher, of which at least 18 hours must be from courses at the 700 level or above. The MEd program is composed of two elements: • Core pedagogical coursework (18 hours). • Elective courses (12 hours).

Admission Requirements: • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited institution. • Admission to the Clemson Graduate School. • Meet all requirements of the Graduate School. • Unofficial transcripts (Official transcripts will be required if recommended for admission). • Copy of valid teaching certificate. • Two letters of recommendation. • Competitive GRE scores. • Official TOEFL/IELTS scores for international students.
