An Online Program
The Clemson University Master of Public Administration Program (MPA) is a fully online professional degree program preparing students for a wide range of public and nonprofit sector careers. The program allows students to network with students and faculty from across the country and to choose from a diverse set of specializations based on interest and professional need. Program Requirements: The program of study for the Master of Public Administration degree requires the completion of 39 or 42 graduate hours, depending on the student’s choice of a Capstone final research project or comprehensive exam. The following core courses are required: • Perspectives of Public Administration • Public Policy Process • Research Methods for PADM • Public Data Analysis • Public Financial Management • Public Personnel Administration • Administrative Leadership Elective Courses: Students are required to take 15 elective hours, of which 3 hours are an elective course in government. The program offers regular elective courses in the following five specialization areas: • Emergency Management • Homeland Defense and Security • Local and State Government • Non-Profit Management • Regional Sustainability

Admission Requirements: • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. • Admission to the Clemson Graduate School. To Apply: > Select program code 670 (Public Administration). > Unofficial transcripts from all prior institutions where a degree was awarded and from which transfer credit is desired until admission is accepted. > A personal statement outlining the purpose for pursing an MPA degree. > Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores (within five years of application date).* > Applicants for whom English is a second language must also submit acceptable TOEFL scores. > Two letters of recommendation. *In certain cases GRE waivers may be requested. The MPA program also offers a professional certificate with fully transferable credits into the full degree program. The Clemson MPA program has successful alumni in an array of public, non-profit, and private sector agencies. We have students serving as city and county managers, finance officers, emergency managers, urban planners and many other successful career paths.
